Chapter 21: Problems at Home

Innocent Love

After stopping for breakfast, they head home, tired of being up most of the night but hearts filled with excitement, the ride home was filled with laughter and giggle,

“I can’t believe both of our phones are dead,” says Jungkook, staring at the phone in the car charger, “Missing class like this, won’t you be in trouble?” Jimin shakes his head no, “Not really, they get paid either way, so, I'm not tripping”

Only a couple of minutes from home, Jimin glance at him, “How much trouble do think we are in?” Jungkook shrugs his shoulder, he checks his phone to see if it was charged, it was at eighty percent, he takes it out, and plugs Jimin’s phone in the charger. He opens the phone, checking his messages,

“So, did your parents blow your phone up?”

“Nah, just three missed calls from my mom and Sana messaged me,” he replies, listening to the voicemail his mom left. Jimin watches him for a second, as his facial expression changes, Jungkook sighs, irritated,

“What it is?”

“Nothing, my dad is leaving for Seoul tomorrow, Sana says my mom and he got into again,” explains Jungkook.

“Your parents are fighting?” Jungkook shakes his head,

“It’s nothing new, they are always arguing over stupid anyway.”

The rest of the ride was quiet, Jimin parks the car in front of Jungkook’s gate, they both sigh, and burst out laughing as they stare at each other, not wanting to go separate ways,

“I love you,” says Jimin, after catching his breath,

“Keep talking like that and I’ll kiss you right here for your dad to catch us,” jokes Jungkook, Jimin punches him on the shoulder, blushing, Jungkook grabs his hand, giving it a squeeze,

“Not more than me,” he replies, he gives him a quick peck on the lips. He unbuckles his seatbelt and opens the door,

“Jungkook-ah,” calls out Jimin, Jungkook stops puzzled, he turns around, looking at Jimin,

“I still haven’t forgotten about the personal portfolio, am I ever gonna get to see it?” Jungkook smirks, shaking his head no, before crossing the street and heading home, Jimin laughs at his shyness and drives through the gate to his parking garage. After he parks the car, he turns off the engine and sits there for a minute, staring at the ring on his finger, he kisses the ring before getting off the car. His father was already at work, he wonders if his mom was home, as he walks into the house. He approaches one of the maids,

“Where is my mom?” before the maid could answer, Jimin’s phone rings, he looks at the phone it was Jungkook, he smiles and answers the phone,

“Missed me already?”

“Jimin-hyung,” says Jungkook, trailing off for a few seconds, “Your mom is at my house, it looks like something is wrong.”

“What!” Jimin hangs up the phone and looks through his missed calls, his mom called him twenty times last night, he listens to the voicemail and his heart sinks. He quickly heads over to Jungkook where his mom was, he knocks on the door and Jungkook answers it,

“Where is my mom?”

“Outside at the pool with my mom,” replies Jungkook, “It seems like your parents were arguing last night.” Jimin bites his lip, angry, his parents never had a fight that resulted in one of them leaving the house, they always knew how to communicate with each other even if they disagreed. He heads outside, his mom was sitting in the chairs near the pools with a glass of wine in her hand and Jungkook’s mom was sitting beside her. Jimin quietly approaches his mom,

“Jimin,” says Jungkook’s mom, she gets up, she gives Jimin’s shoulder a squeeze before heading back inside the house, leaving him with his mom,

“Mom,” calls out Jimin, walking towards her, she looks up, and laughs, drunk, Jimin was shocked and saddened, he has never seen his mom in such state. He kneels in front of her, he reaches out for the glass, but she hits his hand away,

“Mom, what happened?”

She snorts, “As if you care? Where you last night? You disappeared with your…” her voice trails off, “You left knowing your father and I were having problems…”

Jimin clenches his teeth, “Mom, let's go home,” he says taking away the glass of wine. He calls Jungkook to help him, they left her, holding her side by side as they make way to Jimin’s house. He lays her on the bed even though she was throwing a fit, Jimin’s mind all over the place, he pulls the blanket over her when she settled down and closed her eyes, and they walk out of the room, closing the door behind him. Jungkook squeezes Jimin shoulder, patting him on the back, Jimin sniffs, forcing a smile, he never felt so useless. Since he was young, he never witnesses an argument between his parents aside from trivial bickering here and there, he has no clue what to do,

“Why were your parents arguing?” he asks, trying to calm his feelings,

“Nothing important,” replies Jungkook, “They just had a disagreement.”

After Jungkook left, Jimin was sitting beside his mom, calling his father but no answer,

“He won’t answer,” says his mom, waking up from her sleep, her hair a mess, she puts them in a bun and leans against the headboard. Jimin hands her a glass of water, she takes it and gulps it down, giving it back to him,

“What happened?”

“Nothing, we had an argument and he walked out, never came back,” she replies getting off the bed,

“An argument? Is that the reason you are drunk at twelve in the afternoon?” says Jimin, scowling.

“He…your dad still upset about the abortion, he said I disregarded his feelings when I got it,” she replies, glaring at him, “Where did you run off to all night?”

“Nowhere,” he replies, “An abortion is the reason why he walked out? Dad isn’t as unreasonable as that even if he didn’t want it, he still agreed to it at the end, why make a drama out of it?”

“I don’t know,” she says walking to the bathroom, “Go ask your dad.” She shuts the door, exhaling Jimin shakes his head in disbelief, he still could not believe they were arguing over the abortion, they were not in the best mood since the abortion, but he still could not wrap his around it, his dad was stern and always wanted things to go his way, but he has never been unreasonable as far as Jimin knew. He ruffles his hair, heading to his room, he sits on the bed, just one night and everything went to hell, his phone beeps and flushes, it was a message from Jungkook asking if everything is alright, Jimin smiles, despite his parents arguing too, he is more worried about me. Jimin replies, with a smiley face, telling him everything was okay, his parents are just going through a crisis, trying to believe in his own words. The rest of the day went slow, he was unable to get anything from his mom, who left the house after showering and getting herself together, he decided to go to Taehyung’s house who still had not left for work. Jimin sits on the couch, having a conversation with Taehyung’s mom, asking her for advice. She couldn’t tell him much, he was aware of all the things she was telling him. He knew the abortion would bring problems to his parents, but he didn’t think it would last this long. Taehyung walks into the living room and his mom leaves them alone, heading to attend to her chores, they decide to meet up with Mina for lunch before he had to go to work.

“So, your dad left home after arguing with your mom last night?” says Mina, “Where were you? Jimin clears his throat, to shy to say anything, he runs his fingers through his hair,

“Just out,” he says, “Anyway, I don’t understand why my dad isn’t just forgetting about it, he is not someone to keep a grudge.”

“Yeah, but I kind of understand him,” says Taehyung, “That was his baby too, he’s probably just still dealing with the fact, that he is not going to have another child.”

Jimin sighs, wanting to scream, frustrated and annoyed,

“I leave for one night and they fight like this,” he says, “What would happen if I leave for New York?” Taehyung and Mina exchange looks after they spot the ring he was wearing on his hand, Taehyung grabs his finger, eyeballing him,

“You guys eloped and got married?” Jimin pulls his hand away, putting his hand down,

“What the hell happened last night, you guys went from necklaces to rings?” says Mina,

“Nothing,” says Jimin, feeling embarrassed, Taehyung and Mina’s mouth drop,

“You guys had !” they shouted simultaneously, the people at the next table turning around and looking at them. Jimin clenches his teeth, looking around, he shrinks in his chair, completely red,

“Dude, I am so proud of you,” says Mina, “We just talked about it, a couple days ago, and now you’re not a anymore.”

His friends wrap their arms around him, “We are so proud of you,” says Taehyung. Jimin stands up, pushing their arms off, he slams the table with his hand. Before he could say anything, Taehyung stands up, looking at his watch,

“I got to get to work,” he sips the last of his coffee, “See ya guys later.”

“Hey!” shouts Jimin, “You're my ing ride, I left my car at your house.” Taehyung waves at him as he drives away,

Mina motions him to sit back down, “So how was it?”

“How was what?”

“You and Jungkook,” she says, smirking, “Tell me.”

Jimin sighs,“Painful at first but after awhile it felt good,  intense, I have seen Jungkook look so hot before,” he blushes at the thought of Jungkook on top of him, “in the morning, he kisses me and puts on this ring, saying how much he loves me.”

“Ya, that’s ing cute, my Jiminie is all grown up,” teases Mina, “I can’t believe in one summer, the love of your life came back, you lost your ity and got accepted to the Dance Academy.”

“I know right, summer really is the season of love,” says Jimin laughing. Mina clears , her face changing,

“But summer is over in a month,” she says, Jimin looks at her confused, “How are you going to be with Jungkook and be in New York at the same time? Do you think your relationship will survive another long distance? Jimin shrugs his shoulder, he still has not even notified the school whether he was still planning on going or not, he sighs, the thought of it giving him a headache,

“We haven’t really discussed it,” he replies, “We just want to enjoy what’s left of summer break before thinking about all that…I honestly, don't think I want to leave anymore but knowing Jungkook, he'll probably be upset if I turned down the school, it was all I spoke about when we messaged each other when he was in Seoul. He didn’t hesitate to drop everything and move back to Los Angeles, even though he was scared I longer felt anything for him. Wouldn’t it be selfish of me to pack up and leave him behind?” Jimin stares at his friend for an answer but she looked as lost as him, he sighs fidgeting with his ring, would our relationship survive a long distance? It won’t be fair would it? After all the time we were apart, this is the first time in my life, I have been this happy, how can I just leave? Do I really have to choose between New York and Jungkook? Jimin shakes his head, smiling, I can go to school anywhere, there is no way I would be able to survive with him being far from me, no matter if he is happy about it or not, I won’t go to New York.

Mina gives him a ride to Taehyung's home to get his car and afterwards he heads home, none of his parents was home, his parent's argument still lingering in his mind, he lays down on the bed staring at the ceiling, how can I make things better between mom and dad? He didn’t want to intervene, but he knows he must do something before things get worse. Jimin sighs as he stares at the ceiling, thinking of ways he can help his parents pass the abortion issue while at the same time, trying to decide what do about the Dance Academy. Jungkook and Dancing are all the treasures, he can't live without any of them.

"But Jungkook is irreplaceable," he mutters to himself, "I rather not dance any more than not be with Jungkook."
