Jimin
Not TodayThis wasn't happening. Jimin replayed the news over and over again in his mind, but it would not compute. No way Jungkook did this. Yet, deep down, he knew that Jungkook had. The maknae wouldn't have been so easily coerced. He was too loyal and stubborn. So if Jungkook had given up Hoseok and Suga's home, what was NO doing to him? Jimin shuddered at the thought of poor Jungkook all alone.
Jin had jumped into action. He made Namjoon pull up the feed he was getting from his drone. They had sent it out the day after Jungkook was taken, and it had been surveying the area they believed the facility to be in. It had registered something, some signs of human activity, but not much else. It was determined that's where Jungkook was being kept.
The idea of storming the facility with just six people was worrisome. A pit grew in Jimin's stomach the moment Jin told them they were leaving in the morning. He had a bad feeling about their mission. He excused himself to get some air, and now leaned against the railing, staring up the night sky, which was clear and twinkling with thousands of stars. It was a peaceful time, perfect for thinking.
The door opened and someone stepped out. On impulse, Jimin tensed, even though he knew it was no one suspicious. He's lived a life of running and laying low for so long, would he ever be able to live a normal life again?
"Sheesh, jumpy," a familiar voice scoffed.
Jimin glanced over his shoulder and threw on a smirk as Jin approached. "Can't be too careful, hyung."
Jin pushed away from the door and came up beside his dongsaeng. Jimin turned back to watching the stars, and they sat quietly for a moment.
"You think it's reckless," Jin blurted out suddenly. "Going to the facility."
Jimin tapped the railing absently, and shrugged. "I have a bad feeling...like something bad's going to happen. Could be wrong though, I might just be hungry."
Jin frowned. "I have to try."
"Of course, and we'll be with you every step of the way. Forget about my crazy gut." He pinched Jin's cheek, his hand swatted away. "We love you and that crazy maknae."
Jin smiled at that, then ran a hand through his hair. "Imagine if we succeed in bringing NO down. What that'll mean for our country."
"It would be amazing. And we start that by taking this facility down." Jimin shivered. "It's getting cold."
They walked into the common area, to the beginnings of a party. Taehyung was passing cups around, while Namjoon and Suga flipped through music. Hoseok took a long, deep drink before raising his cup to Jimin and Jin.
"Our last night before the big battle!" he cheered.
Jin looked uncertain, as if having any fun at all was a betrayal to Jungkook. Taehyung came towards him and a cup in his hand. He kissed Jin on the cheek and whispered something, Jimin couldn't hear. His attention was distracted, however, by a a yelp and a spark. Suga grabbed some water and doused the budding flame that popped out from the music player.
"You were just pressing skip!" he sighed in exasperation to Namjoon.
Namjoon threw his hands up in mercy. "I swear it wasn't me."
"Where would you be without me?" Suga grumbled with an eye roll.
Namjoon moved his arm around his hyung's shoulders. "Dunno, conquering the world or something."
"More like tripping the journey," Hoseok snickered. Namjoon threw him a look as Suga rummaged through his bag. He pulled out an old iPod and connected it to the speaker.
"Luckily, I brought backup."
"To the mission, and to saving our maknae!" Hoseok toasted.
They all raised their cups and drank. Suga pressed play and music filled the room. Namjoon and Hoseok sang loudly and obnoxiously along with the music, while Suga bobbed his head along. Taehyung and Jin slipped off down the hall, and Jimin smiled. The outcome of tomorrow was a mystery, but tonight they celebrated. And as much as Jimin missed Jungkook, and wanted to save him from whatever awful things he was enduring, Jimin didn't want this night to end.
