On the way back up to Seoul, we stopped in Yeongdong, a district near Daejeon. On the outskirts of the town, there was a restaurant and an inn owned by a Creature, that was known only by Creatures (and that actually could be seen only by Creatures).
We decided to stay there for the night. And right now, everyone was around a long table and busy praising their folks’ gastronomic specialties.
I discreetly slipped out of the restaurant to find a good spot to look at the stars, ending up meters away from it.
After a few seconds of perfect silence, I felt someone sneak up on me from behind. At the last minute, I turned around and shout loudly, making the young man jump with a beautiful shriek.
I grinned. “Hi, Ji Min-ssi. You okay?”
“I’ll get a revenge, I swear.”
“Improve your sneaking skills first.”
“Wait for it,” he smirked. “What are you doing out here?”
“Na Young told me she had a feeling through her sensitivity, that bad things were happening or were going to happen.”
“But she doesn’t know what or when...” Ji Min noted. “I guess you’re worried.”
I nodded. And he gently patted my shoulder, trying to comfort me in silence.
Footsteps on the grass then appeared somewhere. I focused on my perception and identified the person as a Goblin.
“Hands off, playboy.” he grumbled. “And leave us alone.”
I frowned. It was his usual flat tone. But something was different, for sure.
Ji Min lifted his hands in the air as if he was being arrested. After a curious look in my way, to which I just nodded once, he walked away.
“Yoon Gi, are you drunk?” I questioned the second young man as he arrived by my side.
“Well, I did have some of Ho Seok’s Fairy liquor. But no, not yet,” he shrugged. “Anyways. What were you talking about with the angel?”
“Na Young had a feeling something bad-”
“Wait, stop. That sounds too serious. I’ll go first.”
He had declared this with conviction. But he remained silent afterward.
“I’m listening, you know.”
“Yeah, but I can’t find the words. Be patient.”
“Okay...”
I turned my head to the sky, where the round moon and some stars were shining. The district wasn’t really big. But there was still enough light to hide most of them.
In the corner of my eyes, I saw Yoon Gi crook his neck to look at me. Deciding to a bit, I grinned like an idiot.
“Don’t tell me you’re admiring my beautiful side profile in the moonlight, huh?”
No reply. He completely turned his body in my direction. And the atmosphere became heavier. I moved to face him as well, eyebrows raised in an interrogative manner.
“You provoke me a lot and make me wanna seal your lips.”
“Ah… S-Sorry?”
With a few steps, he suddenly closed the small distance between us. He stared right into my eyes, without any word. He was too close. I tensed, and backed off. But he came back even closer.
“What are you doing, Yoon Gi?” I stretched my lips in a small, secretly uneasy, smile. “This was scary only the first time you did it, you know.”
I put an hand on his chest and the other on his shoulder to try and keep him at a minimum of distance. But he didn't let himself be pushed. He stopped and grabbed my hands.
“Stop moving.”
His hands, still firmly closed around mine, pulled me gently. Yoon Gi leaned forward faster than I ever saw him move, and his soft lips pressed against my lips a bit
