A/N: I decided to do another chapter in 2 parts so I can publish this week and have time to make the second part. The text between * and in italics is a flash back. Enjoy ! ;D
Fearing the Evil, Humans hence began to hunt down its progeny. But the witches they burnt during Middle Ages were actually Goblins, Fairies or Elves, who they attacked sneakily, injured to neutralize, being scared of their powers, then killed mercilessly; unfortunately, the poor creatures yet had not acquired the unseen ability.
The most hunted down creatures were the Fairies, who liked to wander near humans to see them. Naturally carefree and playful, fairies did not notice they were throwing themselves in danger and couldn't understand humans' reaction as they did not want any harm. These creatures who can become a glint, or the size of an human hand, are everywhere, spending their days taking care of nature and animals.
Hunters were partisans of God, back then they were just believers who took up any weapon-like objects they had, simply led by priests' venomous speeches. Now, although most humans have forgotten about magic, hunters still exist, they are armed with weapons created precisely to neutralize and hurt Creatures; it is hunters' job to decimate them.
“Who was that man?”
“I don't know exactly. But Seok Jin told me he was a Deity, even though he didn't have the energy of one.”
“I see you get along really well with creatures.”
“Well as long as they don't act like erts, I start to be used to it,” I deadpanned, earning a flat stare from Nam Joon.
“I already apologized, it wasn't my intention to scare you.”
“Yeah. Let me work.”
The silence came back around me. Only the sounds of papers turning, pens scratching against them and snifflings could be heard in the library.
Nam Joon was looking at me intently. So I faked my focus on the book facing me, but actually couldn't come up with any answer: yesterday's events were repeating in my head, particularly my conversation with Kim Seok Jin.
* “Hello? Sorry Nana. Something urgent came up. I'll explain later.” I hung up, gazing at the black screen silently. It was the first time I had to lie to Na Young. I didn't like this, but it was for the best, right? I have a bad feeling... Seok Jin's stare was piercing holes in my head, again. I looked up slowly. The Elf was not facing me, shoulders turned to the road, and only watching me by the corners of his eyes. After a short silence, he finally said, “Go in,” gaze now drifting to the house. I crooked my neck in the same direction, then came back to him. “First I have things to ask,” I declared, determined to get an explanation; something was off and, seeing how involved I was, I had the right to know what. “What is going on?” “I don't know either.” he sighed, seemingly bothered. “Tell me the truth, please. I have the right to know.” “Yes, you do. But I can only tell you that something is starting, not what.” “Why? Why does no one can tell me everything, huh? You know, rather than the fact that all those crazy things do exist, I'm more scared that I know nothing. It's like trying to find my way in a pitch dark night!” I snapped in a tirade, panic gaining me as the reality of the situation hit my brain. Seok Jin shifted to face me, giving up his cold mask for a serious expression. “There are uncertain things and things I don't know yet. But once I found everything out, I will tell you.” he assured firmly. Then his face softened a bit, “And you won't have to find that way alone.” Did he just implied that he was going to be by my side? My eyes traveled back and forth between his brown irises. Seok Jin was looking down at me, intense and genuine gaze unwavering. I hadn't noticed how close he was, but now he was almost towering over me, about ten centimeters taller. His ethere
