Foreword
The wind blew through the branches rustling the leaves as a figure sat reading in the shade it provides. Her hair billowed in the wind as she struggled to hold on tight to the pages with her tiny hands. The paperback book got whipped out of her hands as a particularly strong gush of wind blew past sending it flying into the bog behind.
Staring forlornly, she stood by the side of the water and tried hooking it back with a branch she picked up. Her arms were too short no matter how much she strained it. She attempted for the final time, extending her arms while balancing on one foot. Unfortunately, she lost control of her balance and fell forward as she flailed her arms in a desperate bid to prevent herself from falling into the dirty body of water beneath her. Preparing for the worst, she felt a pair of strong hands grabbed one of her flailing arms and pulled her back to safety.
Turning back to thank her rescuer, she looked into the eyes of a smiling boy that looked around her age. He released her arm as she promptly bowed to him formally to thank him for rescuing her. Breaking into a smile again to reveal a dimple on the right corner of his mouth, he cheekily bowed back at her and ran back to where he came from.
