Chapter 35: For You

The Pink Dormitory

Chapter 35: For You

Under the pouring rain, the lone girl stared frozen in front of the red car. Watching quietly as the two girls got out with an umbrella, her heart was uneasy. But she remembered Chorong's words and the promise they made together, skinship with other people shouldn't be a barrier against their relationship. The younger girl trusted her as she looked on.

"Bomi-ya, why are you standing in the rain? Head inside otherwise you'll catch a cold!" said Chorong as she saw the girl and immediately walked towards her, dragging Irene along as they shared an umbrella together.

"I was waiting for you..." said Bomi quietly as she felt nervous, looking at Irene who was right in front of her. Taking a closer look, she admit that she was pretty and maybe a little cute, but nothing is cuter than Chorong of course.

"Ah, this is Yoon Bomi. If you know, she's the national taekwondo player." said Chorong who noticed Bomi's strange behaviour and tried to make the atmosphere lighter.

"I don't watch sports sorry, but nice to meet you. I'm Bae Joo Hyun, but just call me Irene." said Irene with a smile, reaching for a handshake.

"Bomi...Yoon Bomi.." answered the girl, with a smile. But Chorong knew at first sight, that it was fake and forced. She knew this would happen and thought of the only way that would calm the girl down. The older girl moved towards Bomi and placed her arm around Chorong on purpose, as if to let Irene notice and set their boundaries of their relationship.

Chorong's sudden actions comforted the younger girl's uneasy heart as she finally smiled.

"Thank you for driving me here Irene-ssi. I should really repay you one day." said Chorong, her arms still tightly clinged onto Bomi's.

"Ah, it's really not a problem at all. You should go inside. I'll see you next week Chorong-ssi." said Irene as she noticed her actions but chose to ignore it, bowed and went back into her car. The two girls stayed until her car dissapeared, it was at that moment Chorong sighed.

"Unnie...." mumbled Bomi as she looked at the older girl.

"I didn't want you to get the wrong idea. It's a long story but first, Hayoung." said Chorong as she looked at Bomi and grabbed her arm, pulling her inside the police station.

For a moment, Bomi realised that she didn't have to worry about anything at all. She believed in her words, because Chorong wasn't a girl who plays around with feelings. As the two entered inside the police station, there was a tense atmosphere. Eunji and Naeun walked restlessly, not catching a moment to sit down. It was a serious case, never before has anyone been sent to the police for questioning.

"Where's Hayoung?" asked Chorong.

"In the interrogation room." sighed Eunji.

"She picked a fight again, with her own classmates. All because they said bad things about Namjoo again.." said Naeun with worry. The situation was tight and complicated because the girls knew that Hayoung did the right thing except, violence was not the answer.

The older girl was quick to pick up the whole situation. This was much worse than the high school incident and no one could predict what could happen next. It was at that moment, the doors from the interrogation room opened as only Namjoo appeared.

"Unnie...." said Namjoo as tears started to well in her eyes upon seeing her sisters in front of her. The girls reached her with a hug that comforted the girl, who had been having an emotional rollercoaster.

"Are you guardians of Oh Hayoung?" asked the officer who came along with Namjoo.

"Yes. Hayoung is an orphan so she does not have any parents." said Chorong.

"She will be in a temporary jail as of now until we have a full grasp of the whole situation. We have yet to contact with other witnesses since it's already late."

"Wait, she can't come home?" asked Eunji.

"No, as of now she is temporarily listed as a criminal. She has attacked someone out of an unlogical reason. She will stay in the temporary prison here until things settle now. Well then, you may leave now." said the officer as he went and signalled other officers to come and drag the five girls out of the station. The girls couldn't resist as the men's force was too strong, soon enough they found themselves outside the police station.

"Unnie..what do we do?" said Naeun, speechless.

"Let's go home first. It's already late." sighed Chorong. She knew such couldn't be solved in a day and for sure, the girls must've been starving.

Back at the dorm, Chorong cooked dinner and was instantly devoured by her four hungry dongsaengs. The dinner was silent because the unnies couldn't help but to think of their maknae who is all alone in her temporary jail. It was now past 11pm, Chorong had ordered the girls to go to sleep as they had their own schedules tommorow. Even with Namjoo's protests, the older girl managed to send her into her room.

After checking that everyone was asleep, the girl quietly packed the leftovers inside a small container and silently left the dorm. She couldn't help but to worry about the starving maknae back at the police station. Walking slowly along the dark street with only a street light to guide her way, Chorong felt uneasy. She could feel something behind her but thought it was simply her own imagination as she hadn't had enough sleep.

It was at that moment, something tapped her shoulder and Chorong immediately turned around, only to be hugged by a girl. Knowing by the touch, it was none other than Bomi.

"B-Bomi-ya?" said Chorong in a startled voice.

"I thought you'd scream and wake up the whole neighbourhood." joked Bomi with a smile as she kept Chorong within her embrace.

"I checked that everyone was asleep so how did you find out.." mumbled Chorong.

"I'm always one step ahead of you unnie. Let's go and meet our troublemaker Hayoungie." smiled Bomi as she removed Chorong from her hug and instead held her hands.

The two girls walked together along the pathway under the black, night sky with Hayoung's lunch in their hands.

"Unnie, thank you for today." smiled Bomi.

"For what?" asked Chorong, confused at her words.

"The moment I saw you with that girl...Irene...I really thought that maybe..I wasn't good enough...you seemed happy being around her"

"Bomi-ya.."

"But I'm glad to chose her over me. I admit she's pretty and nice, i would probably fall for her too but there's only you in my heart." said Bomi with a quiet giggle.

"Not with your cheesy lines again" said Chorong with a laugh.

"I'm probably just over-thinking things and I probably made you frustrated over me, who gets jealous easily..But thank you for putting up with me unnie."

"Omo, what's wrong with you today? Saying words like that?" said Chorong, surprised to see this new, serious side of her.

"I just wanted to tell you unnie, that I will love you forever even if one day, you leave me for someone else...I'll still be here for you"

"I won't leave you Bom-ah, stop saying such depressing words like that. I know you're prone to jealousy, even when I'm around with a girl. I'm aware, but never have I thought of leaving you. Never."

There was silence as the younger girl simply looked deeply into her eyes. A smile formed in between her lips and soon, into a wide grin.

"I love you Rong unnie." said Bomi as she gently raised their interwined hands and lightly pecked the top of Chorong's hand.

"Me too Bom-ah. We need to go and take care of our maknae now, so let's not flirt." said Chorong with a giggle. She knew that at times, there had to be a boundary between her love life and family. She has considered all six of the girls as part of her family and in this current situation, this was no time to play around.

"Right. Our maknae, must be feeling very lonely right now. Let's go! " said Bomi as she playfully pulled Chorong's hand forward, as if to start running along the path.

"I mean not that fast!" said Chorong, startled as she tried to keep up with Bomi's pace.

"Just joking. This is payback for what you did earlier." said Bomi as she slowed down, placing her tongue out as if to tease the older girl.

"W-What did I do?"

"For not being around me and instead spending time with Irene." grinned Bomi.

~X~

At the Seoul Police Station, it was now past midnight and there were lesser officers on patrol. The makeshift jailroom was small, and Hayoung was the only one there. The girl curled herself in the corner, resting her head onto her knees as she looked at her palms covered in bruises and blisters from the fight before. She knew what she did wrong, she was ready for the consequences ahead. To her, education didn't matter anymore. What mattered was that no one would be able to mess around with Namjoo. The very thought that she is in a safe place, was all she needed.

"This place sure is cold..." mumbled Hayoung to herself as she could hear her stomach grumble.

Lightly touching her cheek that had a cut from the broken window shards and rolling up her sleeves to see her elbows covered in wounds, the girl only sighed. She tried to look around the cell, wondering if there was something to keep herself warmth. But it was nothing but a cold, metal, cell. Hayoung was smart, she removed the shoelaces from her shoe and tied it around her fingers to stop her slow bleeding. It was at that moment, an officer knocked onto her cell.

"Come out. You have a visitor."

Following the officer's orders, Hayoung was moved to an isolated room that had a table and chair to sit on. On the opposite side was another chair and a closed door. The officer went outside, looking through the transparent glass as the door opened. The moment Hayoung saw who came in, she tried to avoid eye contact.

"Aigoo...look what you've done to yourself..." sighed Chorong as she sat down, placing the lunchbox on the table and took Hayoung's arm, removing the sleeve that covered her wounds.

"Maybe I shouldn't have taught you those taekwondo moves." said Bomi as she helped to clean and bandage Hayoung's injuries using the small first-aid-kit that Chorong brought along.

"Here. Eat up." said Chorong as she slowly feed Hayoung with the food she brought. In the midst of all this, the maknae simply stayed quiet.

"Don't you feel any pain, Hayoung-ah?" asked Bomi, noticing that the girl didn't show signs of hurt whenever she cleaned her wounds.

"Hayoung-ah, please say something. You can't keep silent and worry your unnies like that." said Chorong as she placed the spoon down.

"Why did you come here?" said Hayoung quietly as she finally looked at her unnies. It was clear that there was worry written all over their faces.

"What kind of question is that? We can't leave you alone in that cell, starving and covered in all that wounds." said Chorong.

"We'll be coming here everyday, so don't worry about getting hungry." said Bomi.

"A-Aren't you going to scold me? Aren't you ashamed that I'm...a criminal now?" said Hayoung in a trembling voice as her eyes started to become watery.

The girls looked at each other and at the same moment, they each placed their hands onto Hayoung's.

"Whatever you did today, whether it was good or bad, it doesn't matter. You are our maknae, that's all that matters." said Chorong, looking straight into her eyes.

"We are on your side Hayoung-ah, we will get you out of here. I promise." said Bomi.

"Even though I'm at fault? I...attacked people y'know? Shouldn't you be getting away from me? I'm dangerous."

"Hayoung-ah..." said Chorong as she frowned.

"One day, I'm probably going to lose my mind and attack you too unnie. I think....you should get away from me."

"Hayoung-ah...."

The two girls noticed that Hayoung wasn't her usual self anymore. She was mentally unstable and could not make logical thoughts anymore. She needed help. It was at that moment, the door opened and a tall man came in. The girls turned around, confused as they had never seen him before.

"Sorry to interrupt." said the man with a smile as he closed the door.

"I'm Seungho. Hayoung's lecturer."
