Breaking Down Walls
Please Come Back to My Embrace“Hyung!” Jungkook shouted as he chased after Taehyung. The latter turned his head and stopped his tracks, allowing Jungkook to catch up. The man placed a hand on his shoulders in exasperation.
“Don’t go. He didn’t mean it. He’s just upset because...” Jungkook trailed off, hoping the older of the two would understand. Taehyung only nodded.
“I know Kookie. I was just going to give a few days to chill down and come back. He needs a caregiver, doesn’t he?” Taehyung shrugged. Jungkook gaped at Taehyung and cocked his head to the side.
“Hyung, why are you so...” Jungkook left it hanging, unable to find the correct words to describe the feeling that he’s getting from Taehyung.
“So...?” Taehyung prompted. Jungkook shrugged as he motioned his hand at Taehyung, trying to convey his confusion with Taehyung’s behaviour.
“It seems to me like you’re just passive about the situation?” Jungkook asked. “I mean, Yoongi-hyung is in the hospital and he’s now paralysed, and you’re like, just playing this off like it doesn’t concern you, I feel?”
“What can I do Jungkook? Nothing I say and do is going to do much,” Taehyung replied.
“At least try! Try to make him feel better!” Jungkook looked at him expectantly. Taehyung stared back him, silent. There was so much that this boy in front of him didn’t know, alongside with Namjoon-hyung and Seokjin-hyung. He wondered if they knew about the existence of Jimin in Yoongi’s life. Taehyung sighed and looked away. Before he could say anything, his phone rang.
“Hello?”
“Omo, Taehyung-ah, it’s eomma!” Taehyung’s mother-in-law screeched into his ear.
“Ah, yeah, eomma?”
“Is it true, what Namjoon told me? Yoongi is... paralysed?” Mrs Kim voice got considerably softer at the end. Taehyung bit his lip.
“... Yeah,” he reluctantly affirmed. The silence that followed was sorrowful as Taehyung basked in Mrs Kim soft sobs.
“I can’t... I won’t be back until in 2 weeks time... Can you... you will take care of him, won’t you, Taehyung?” Mrs Kim asked. Taehyung assured her that he was going to be with Yoongi the whole time.
“Taehyung-ah...” Mrs Kim continued before Taehyung could hang up. Taehyung replied with a ‘Yes?’
“Yoongi... he’s going to be very difficult. He has never been good at adapting to new situations. I hope you won’t be hurt by his actions,” she said apologetically. Taehyung held himself back from scoffing. If only his mother-in-law knew...
“Yes, eomma. I won’t. Pleasetake care.” With that, Taehyung hung up the phone and looked up to see Jungkook staring at him. Taehyung nodded at him before making his leave, after muttering a ‘Goodbye’. Jungkook stared the man’s back before he made his way back to Yoongi’s room.
Upon entering, he was surprised to see a woman dressed in white sitting on the chair beside Yoongi. The woman turned to look at him and smiled.
“Oh, are you the spouse or...?” Jungkook’s eyes widened as he vigorously shook his head. Her eyebrows furrowed.
“Where is he then?” she asked Namjoon, who was looking at Jungkook questioningly as he had thought Jungkook was able to bring Taehyung back to the room. Jungkook shook his head at Namjoon before answering that Yoongi’s spouse had gone back home for a change of clothes.
The woman seemed to buy the lie and stood up to shake Jungkook’s hands. “My name is Dr Lee. I am Mr Min’s psychologist.”
“Why would hyung need a psychologist?” Jungkook blurted out, looking at Namjoon. The woman smiled.
“Being paralysed after an accident takes a toll on a person’s emotional and psychological state. Because Mr Min was born healthy, so it takes both time and effort to get used to the fact that he may
