So I’m officially a trainee in YG entertainment. Yes that’s right I passed the audition and I was offered a one year training contract. Seunghyun and Gd had explained that a one year contract at YG was quite unusual there. But it basically meant that YG was buying one year to debut a solo female artist and they were specially focus on that. So for one year four other girls and I would compete to become the next hot female singer from YG to open the way for the rest of the Korean artist in the USA.

My training at YG begun on a Monday morning at 8:00 am. I sat at the Human Resources in the main YG building with the four other trainees and waited for the contracts to brought up so we could finalize them and be moved to the old YG building. This was going to be the last time any of us would step into the new YG building till one of us was chosen to debut one year from now. Once back at the old YG building we were assigned to our personal mentor.

I had heard the stories of most of the producers who were going to be in charge of us. Teddy one of the most senior producers in YG, he is often working with the likes of Big Bang. Tablo or Kim Jeong-sik  were said to be the ones with the magic touch, if they were to be in change of me, Seunghyun said it was most likely for me to debut, He said I could trust him entirely. 

“Miss Daniela” a throaty-voice called my name, waving her hand beckoning me. I stood, smoothed my shirt and strode to her desk. I was nervous, but I tried to appear calm and collected. “You will be under Tablo,” she started “after the orientation report to his studio in the 4th floor. She dismissed me by turning her focus back to the screen of her computer and calling the next person: a girl named Mandy. Mandy stood up and passed me as she gave me a small smile which I returned.

I sat down on the hard chair and exhaled, releasing the breath I had not been aware I was holding. Tablo. It was good news, he speaks great English, and I wonder if that’s the reason I was assigned to him?  Seunghyun said Tablo works long hours and will expect me to do the same, which means I would get good, solid training. And if I managed to impress Tablo it would possibly mean debut right? Word has it Tablo is tough but not unreasonable and fair. I head Mandy’s mentor, she was assigned to Teddy. Tough luck. 

Orientation passed slowly. A boring drone of rules, forms and informational videos on topics such as privacy and ual harassment. We had cold chicken salads in an empty dance studio. The conversation seemed to center around going out for dinner to celebrate the first day.

“What do you think, Daniela, dinner tonight?” Mandy, the stylish girls from before leaned toward me as she asked the question.

I shrugged. “Dinner tonight, works for me, if Tablo lets me out early” I said. I don’t think I will be able to join them too often once our training really begun, I mean, I would have to make time to meet Seunghyun. 

“I’m sure Tablo will let you off early today. It’s the first day, after all.” the optimism came from So Young a very pretty and athletic looking girl. 

I smile at her, trying not to stare at her beautiful eye smile. “Maybe, who did you get?”
“Kim Jeong-sik,” she responded breezily “Should be fine. The guy apparently parties more than he works.”
 
I couldn’t help but laugh, since I had heard the same thing. I glanced at Mandy and eh was typing furiously into her phone, probably updating her friends
