Chapter 7

Refuse To Lose

"Are auditions this afternoon?" Taeyeon asked with a mouthful of her lunch. She was too focused to realise how much she was spraying her food on the pissed off Jessica to really care.

"Yeah. Yoong and I are staying behind."

Jessica flicked Taeyeon's food off her shoulder before moving to sit beside Sooyoung. That girl knew nothing about table manners. Her friends would've preferred her drawing at the table than eating.

"Do you think you’re gonna make it in?"

Tiffany directed the question to the shikshins sitting across from her. She knew her friends could dance but she didn't think they were the best. She'd rather they stuck to Soccer than do dancing.

"I doubt it. I’m not even gonna try." Sooyoung casually admitted.

"And Yoong?"

"I'm not sure. I hope I do..." She wanted to make it in, because if she didn't, people would start mocking her and call her IM-perfect again. She always hated that nickname.

Yuri might also think of her less if Yoona wasn't chosen as a member of the dance team. She was afraid Yuri wouldn't talk to her because of her bad dancing skills.

With so much thoughts clouding her head, Yoona couldn't think properly. She looked around the cafeteria for her crush, only to find that she wasn't sitting with her group.

Worried and eager, Yoona took out her phone and sent a text.

To: Mickey Mouse ^__^

Where are u? :(

Yoona felt like she sat there for a year before she received a text back.

From: Mickey Mouse ^__^

I'm in the arts building. Why are you asking?

Yoona ignored the question.

To: Mickey Mouse ^__^

is there anyone wit u? :/

Yoona hoped there wasn't. It would stop her from going to see the girl.

From: Mickey Mouse ^__^

Noo? Just me. Again, why?

To: Mickey Mouse ^__^

No reason~~

Soon, Yoona finished her food before informing her friends she'd be going to her tree. Ignoring their protests, Yoona ran all the way to the arts building, wanting to see her crush before the bell rings.

As she was about to step into the room, her phone signalled a new text.

From: Mickey Mouse ^__^

Weirdo...

Yoona smiled and walked in, scanning the room for a certain someone. Luckily, the place was always empty so it was easy to spot Yuri by the art easel, admiring a certain painting.

Yoona stood there, staring at the girl's back for a bit and taking in her beautiful physique. If she could, she'd be willing to stand there the whole day, but Yuri could catch her any moment and it'll give the older girl more of a reason to mistake Yoona as a creep. So she spoke.

"You paint?”

In shock, Yuri hastily turned around. Her eyes were three times wider than usual. Yoona had to hold in her laugh.

"What are you doing here?"

"You shouldn't have told me where you were if you didn't want me to see you."

Yuri raised a brow. "I told you because you wanted to know."

"Or...you told me because you wanted to see me."

"You can keep believing that."

Yuri smirked before turning back to resume her examining.

Yoona decided it was the right time to come up beside Yuri and see the artwork as well.

She was glad the older girl didn't pay much attention and continued without hesitation.

Yoona found the painting to be a portrait of two people. One of them looked exactly like Yuri while the other looked very similar but much older.

"Who's this?" Yoona was curious.

Yuri marvelled at the work a bit further, as if she was answering Yoona with her expression.

"Me and my mother."

So she does have a mum...

"You're really good at making her look exactly like you."

Yuri couldn't help but chuckle. “I didn’t paint this. Mr Kang did, for me. I asked him.”

“Why?”

“Why not?”

Yoona didn’t speak anymore, but she wanted so badly to ask Yuri about her mother because not once had she mentioned her before. The tanned girl could see Yoona had the urge to ask her a question so instead of letting her suffer, she spoke.

"My parents divorced when I was 13."

Yoona was startled by the sudden confession, finding it to be foreign to Yuri's personality. She’d never expect the older girl to have family issues at home, and this just made her wonder more about that bruise.

"Do you still talk to your mum?"

"Every day. I visit her on the weekends."

"And your dad?" Yoona couldn't stop herself from asking.

"He's...something..."

Just then, a message was sent to Yuri's phone, curiosity creeping into Yoona as she tried to get a peek of the text Yuri was currently reading but the only thing she could get a glimpse of was the sender's name.

Taecyeon.

Yuri put the phone back in her pocket and turned to Yoona, finding a frown plastered on the younger's face.

"Why is your face like that?"

Yoona's frown deepened.

"You talk to Taecyeon?" Yuri rolled her eyes at the kid in front of her.

"Curiosity killed the cat, Yoona..."

"I just want to know." Yoona pushed on, finding herself to get jealous at the fact that Taecyeon and Yuri talked to each other.

"We're partners for an art project. He's supposed to meet me but he got caught up with studies. He can't make it..."

Yoona groaned, used to how unorganised her ex was and how bad his time management skills were. Wanting to take the initiative, Yoona decided to offer a hand. "I'll help you. He's crap at art anyway."

Yuri smirked before revealing the masterpiece her and Taecyeon did together. "He's bad at art, is he?"

Beneath the sheet, was a half-finished structure of the school. It was so detailed, it even included the little nooks and crannies of the walls. Yoona found herself staring in awe a little longer than she was supposed to.

Yuri couldn't hold in her chuckle.

"I'm amazed with your work. Not his."

"Right..." Yuri went to the racks and grabbed an art apron. "Are you going to help or are you going to stare at me like you always do?"

"Oh, staring's an option?"

Yuri rolled her eyes before chucking the apron at her. "Don't be a smartass now..."

Yoona slipped on the apron, but she was finding it hard to tie the back of it. She pouted at Yuri who was busy setting up all the equipment. As if she could feel it, Yuri turned around to find Yoona struggling to tie herself up.

"You're useless, you know that?"

"Yes. Now help me."

Yuri walked up behind Yoona and expertly tied up her apron, smiling in satisfaction before stretching her arm over Yoona's shoulder and giving her a paintbrush.

"You can paint right?"

"I can try..."

"Paint this side of the structure and leave the rest for me."

Yoona saluted before getting to work. Yuri smiled (secretly) and did her part.

All throughout lunch, they worked on the project. Yoona stole occasional glances but would look away when Yuri sent them back. The blush on Yuri's cheeks afterwards did not go unnoticed.

After a while, Yoona was starting to get bored with painting and wanted to play a little prank on Yuri.

She went off to stand behind Yuri with the tip of her paint brush pointing out, coated in fresh paint.

"Hey Yuri. Can I use this colour to paint the windows?"

As Yuri turned around, the tip of Yoona's brush pressed gently on the older girl's cheek, leaving a mark on them. She sharply moved away as her eyes widened.

"YAH!"

Yoona fell on the floor, laughing at the large swipe of paint visible on Yuri's cheek.

"HAHAHAHA!"

"You little-!"

Yoona quickly got up and ran across the room as she watched Yuri glare at her from the other side. "This isn't time to play, Yoona!"

"There's always time to play!"

The next thing that was heard was a bunch of equipment falling on the ground as both girls chased each other around the room. In the end, Yoona ended up with her whole face covered in paint while the paint on Yuri's face was scattered.

They both sat on the floor, out of breath.

It had been a while since Yuri was able to actually experience what it’s like to have fun. Her childhood years only ever consisted of books and yelling. But what she was feeling now was different. It was nice.

Yoona chuckled and moved closer to Yuri, sitting right in front of her with a cheeky smile on her face.

"You're an ." Yuri said with a pout.

"You're an angel."

Yuri blushed while Yoona's grin only widened.

"Can I touch you again?"

Yuri didn't know why she accepted it but she found it sweet how Yoona would always ask beforehand. She watched as Yoona reached out her hand and wiped off a bit of paint from the older girl's lower lip.

Yuri unconsciously leaned her head, hoping the girl before her didn’t notice.

As nice as the moment was, there was always someone to interrupt. In came Taeyeon with a sketch pad in her hand. She came to a halt when she found the two students sitting on the floor, rather close to each other.

"uhm...am I disturbing something?"

"Unnieeee~" Yoona said playfully before standing up and spreading her arms for a hug.

"Don't you dare come close to me with your face like that. The bell's already gone, what are you two still doing here?"

"We got a little carried away." Yoona said before taking off her apron and slinging on her bag. Yuri slowly rose from her spot and played with her fingers. For some reason, she didn't want Yoona to leave.

"I'll see you after school, Yuri!" Yoona shouted after washing her face and giving Taeyeon a small fist bump, running off to her next class.

Taeyeon turned to the blushing Yuri in the corner, amused at the sight.

"Had fun?"

Yuri couldn't help but throw her apron at the shorter girl. "Shut up!"

***

"Okay, can we have boys in one section and girls in the other? Just so we can distinguish genders."

All the auditionees got into their designated places. They were supposed to be organised half an hour ago but everyone was held up by a few late comers who had signed up beforehand.

All of a sudden, the doors to the room opened, revealing the last arrivals.

"You two are late."

"Yoong and I were hungry. Did you expect us to starve before auditions?"

All the students snickered at their shikshin soccer players while the teacher (and Hyoyeon) had a scowl on their face. He quickly motioned them to get in their designated order, getting annoyed at their presence.

Passing by, Yoona gave a quick wink to Yuri, while Sooyoung glared at the short dancing machine. Hyoyeon was about to karate chop the giant on the back of her head but was stopped by a strong grip.

"Calm down. You don't want to be eliminated before the auditions start, do you?"

Hyoyeon only glowered before going back to her spot and huffing in frustration. This made Yuri chuckle and pat her friend on the head.

"Okay let's start, shall we?"

Everyone watched as each contestant left into a room to do their audition. Yuri was glad she didn't have to do it in front of other people. She wouldn't mind either way but she found that she performed better in front of a smaller crowd.

In front of her, each student waiting kept practicing their dances while Yuri was listening to her music, memorising her steps.

She quickly took out her earphones when she felt someone come up to sit beside her, assuming it was a certain choding.

"Hey Yuri."

It was Sooyoung. She was busy eating a half full packet of chips, shocking Yuri.

She's supposed to be practicing but instead, she's eating? What the hell are her motives?

Yuri looked around the room and caught Yoona sitting on the other side, secretly glancing at the two while playing on her phone. Out of the two, she'd expect Yoona to be the one beside her rather than her friend.

"Why isn't Yoona with you?"

"Too scared."

"What?"

Sooyoung choked on a chip at what she accidentally said and started coughing. Yuri reacted and quickly patted her on the back, confused at the slip of her tongue.

"A-as in, she doesn't want people around her right now..."

Sooyoung hoped her excuse worked, and luckily, it did.

Just then, Hyoyeon decided to join in the party as she saw the shikshin bothering her friend. "Can you leave her alone?"

Sooyoung looked up at her with a bored expression donned on her face, hating the presence of the older girl. That line was too familiar to her.

"Oh look what the cat dragged in. Quick! Get it out before it attracts flies!"

Yuri was about to intervene into the argument, knowing where it was going to end up, but Hyoyeon beat her to it.

“Well I already attracted you, didn’t I?”

Yuri mentally face palmed.

“You did not. You came to me.”

“Okay so are you what the cat dragged in?”

“What? No, wait-”

“Kim Hyoyeon?” The voice of one of the judges rang throughout the room, notifying the next contestant to audition.

The shorter girl turned around with innocence in her eyes. She walked away with a victorious smirk, knowing Sooyoung was scowling at her.

“Wow. What a bitc-” Yuri smacked the taller girl on the head before she could finish her sentence. Even though she got along with both of them, she’d never let Sooyoung call her friend such absurd things. Nor shall she let Hyoyeon do the same.

“Stop talking. I have to concentrate.” Without another word, Yuri put on her earphones, ignoring Sooyoung’s protests. She needed to stay focused if she wanted to make it in. She couldn’t have someone as noisy as that shikshin distracting her.

A few minutes later, Hyoyeon came walking out and judging by the big grin on her face, Yuri knew the answer to her fate.

The shorter girl was happy for two things.

She spotted Sooyoung sitting back with Yoona again, away from the black pearl.

“Thank god that idiot left you alone.”

“Who? Sooyoung? She wasn’t bothering me…So…you’re smiling…which means?”

“You know exactly what it means, Yul.” Hyoyeon said as she lifted her chin up in pride. You could hardly tell she broke a sweat.

“I told you, you’d make it.”

“I never said I wouldn’t.” Hyoyeon stated proudly. Yuri could only chuckle.

A buzz from her pocket signalled a text message being sent to the dance machine’s phone. Less than a second after she opened up her mobile, a wide smile graced her face.

Yuri squinted curiously.

“Hey, is it okay if I go? I have to take care of something.”

“Go ahead, Hyo.”

Hyoyeon gave a tight hug to her friend. “Tell me how it goes, okay? They’ll love you.”

Yuri only smiled as she watched her friend leave, hoping what Hyoyeon said was true.

“Choi Sooyoung?”

The tallest girl stood with a sigh, giving a fist bump to her friend and Yuri before disappearing into the other room.

Casual glances were sent to Yuri as her eyes were glued to her phone, bobbing her head to the music. She knew Yoona was staring at her. She could see the deer from the corner of her eye.

Yoona inhaled deeply before standing up and coolly making her way to the seat beside Yuri, she looked around the room for a few seconds before plopping herself down.

Yuri tried to hide her smile, finding Yoona to act anything but normal.

Yoona uncomfortably shifted in her seat, looking at everything except for the girl beside her. She cleared before she leaned her head towards Yuri, still facing away from the older girl.

Very softly, Yuri heard her voice out.

“Hey.”

Yoona retreated to sit back up straight, her fingers drumming against her own knees.

Yuri raised her brow with a smile before responding.

“Why are you acting weird?”

This girl really doesn’t know how to say hi back…

Yoona only shrugged carelessly. Apparently, there had been speculations of Yoona’s crush. Yoonaddicts already had a list of suspects, or so she heard.

Around the halls, she’d seen students talking about the people on the list and coincidently, she thought she had overheard Yuri’s name being on it. There was also Sooyoung which she couldn’t help but laugh at.

Yoona didn’t know for sure though, so she kept her distance just in case.

Yuri waited. Waited for Yoona’s rambunctious personality to come out at any minute. She waited for the younger girl to take her mind off the dance.

But it never came. Yoona only sat, playing with her phone. She was completely different when they were alone. This wasn’t Yoona. Yuri didn’t know who the girl sitting next to her was.

Sooyoung stepped out of the room, hands dug in her pockets. She gave a puzzled look to the two girls sitting beside each other.

“Did you make it?”

Sooyoung stood, contemplating.

“I hate dancing.”

Yoona only laughed, pushing the older shikshin’s shoulder. “Better luck next time, I guess.”

“There will be no next time. I didn’t even want to do this. This is your fault.”

“Oh come on. At least we know how bad you are now.”

Sooyoung grabbed her friend in a headlock, rubbing her fist against the younger’s skull. Yuri stare in amusement.

Yoona could simply be different in public with Sooyoung. Yoona only needed Sooyoung.

Don’t act like you don’t care, Kwon Yuri.

“Kwon Yuri?”

In an instant, she stood up. She didn’t want to look the other two in the eyes but they wished her good luck anyways. And she was grateful for that.

The room was dimly lighted. However, Yuri was still able to see the faces of the three judges on the other side of the room.

With bright smiles, they welcomed her as she stood before them. No ounce of nervousness could be seen on the black pearl’s face. She was obviously prepared.

“You must be Kwon Yuri.”

“That is correct.”

The judges flipped through a few pages and fixed their glasses before continuing. “Are you new?”

“I wouldn’t say I am. It’s been a couple of weeks since I transferred.”

“I see. That explains why there isn’t much history of you at this school…”

“Is that a problem?”

The judges raised their brows at how defensive Yuri was being. One of them leaned back in his chair, looking at Yuri skeptically.

“Not at all.” The other stated, “You may start.”

And in that moment, Yuri was lost in the music. Once again, she danced away as she momentarily forgot she was being judged. She danced as if it was her last day on Earth.

Peeking her head through the door, Yoona watched with her jaw barely touching the ground. She knew Yuri could dance but she didn’t know she’d be this good.

Just as the tanned dancer was about to do a superb body roll, Yoona was yanked back into the waiting room.

“Ah-hey!” She pushed the perpetrator away from her.

“Dude, there’s chairs for a reason.”

“I want to see Yuri dance!”

“You think the other Yoonaddicts in here are going to like that? It’s going to raise suspicions.”

Yoona wanted to say Sooyoung was wrong, but what was she wrong about? It was true. She couldn’t afford to get caught having a special interest in the older girl’s audition.

She was glad Sooyoung was there to remind her.

The door swung open, revealing a half-exhausted Yuri.

She gave the two taller girls quizzical looks as to why they were standing so close to the door.

Sooyoung broke the silence. “Did you make it in?”

Yuri casually nodded, as if it wasn’t that big to her. But really, she was more than happy. There were just other things on her mind.

“Nice!” Sooyoung patted her on the back as Yoona just gave her a warm smile, repeatedly chanting “Kwon Yuri looks so y right now! I’m so glad she made it!” in her mind.

“Im Yoona?”

Yoona knew she shouldn’t have, but she requested anyway.

“Wish me luck?”

Yuri purely smiled. “Good luck…”

With that, Yoona walked into the small room, leaving Sooyoung and Yuri. They made their way to their seats. They had the option to leave but both girls wanted to see how Yoona would go.

They only sat patiently, eager to know if Yoona was going to make it in or not.

Yuri didn’t know how long she waited, but the next thing she knew, Yoona casually came out the room.

“Hey, how’d it g-”

Instead of answering, Yoona walked straight past Yuri and Sooyoung, not acknowledging the fact that they waited for her.

“Dude?” Sooyoung stood up, ready to chase the younger girl, but the firm grip on her wrist stopped her.

She looked down to be met with a concerned Yuri.

“I’ll go see her.”

Sooyoung hesitated, worried about that idea. But after hard contemplation, she gave in. “Okay…I’ll be at the juice bar.”

Yuri nodded before heading towards the direction Yoona went. Only one thing was set on her mind.

***

“I’m sorry, Yoona…but you’re not what we’re looking for…”

She didn't make it.

She didn't make the cut.

Yoona's never not made it in before, so this was a new feeling to her. She was afraid everyone was going to judge her now for being a y dancer.

And Yuri.

Yuri probably hates her for not being good at everything whereas, the tanned beauty was quite the opposite.

She was happy Yuri made it, but she was disappointed in herself.

She shouldn't have tried out in the first place. She shouldn't have humiliated herself in front of the older girl. In front of the school.

God I'm an idiot.

Yoona closed her eyes and knocked her forehead against the tree trunk, contemplating while her hands fidgeted in her pockets. She could feel the corner of her eyes start to water and rubbed them harshly.

She was not going to cry. Crying was for losers. Yoona wasn’t a loser…

To distract her, she continued her assault to her forehead, gradually getting harder at each hit. The pain was enough to stop her from thinking about her failures. It made her feel nothing at all. Her heart was so heavy, she was finding it hard to even stand up straight.

Just when she thought she was going to lose consciousness at the next hit, Yoona felt a soft hand cover her forehead, stopping her. Her eyes slowly opened as a tanned angel stood between her and the tree, concern in her eyes.

“You’re hurting the tree, you know?” Her hand still laid upon Yoona’s forehead.

The younger girl only sighed. “What does it matter? I’m hurting even more.”

Yuri had never seen Yoona this sad before. She was always jumping with enthusiasm, always finding a way to make Yuri’s heart flutter. But with how the doe looked now, her beating muscle was too numb to feel a thing.

“How’d you know I was here?” Yoona turned her head, just so Yuri didn’t catch her watery eyes.

“I followed you.”

“Oh…”

Yuri reluctantly removed her hand, bringing it close to her chest. She wasn’t going to move away from the tree. Even if they were standing quite close together, she wasn’t going to let Yoona hurt herself. Who knows how many times she’s done it before?

“What’s wrong, Yoona?” She knew. She just wanted the younger to say it for herself.

“I am. I’m wrong. I couldn’t even make it into the dance team. How am I supposed to come to school tomorrow? How am I supposed to face everyone?”

Yoona turned with her back facing Yuri. She mindlessly kicked the grass along the ground.

“Do you know how many people came up to me saying they knew I’d make it? They told me I’d get in for sure…” Gradually, her voice softened. “…because they told me I’m perfect. The judges wouldn’t even have to think to accept me.”

Yuri only listened attentively, her eyebrows furrowed. She couldn't help but hate the younger girl's logic. She still thought like a kid, wanting everyone to like her and wanting to be perfect. Yuri never noticed how self-conscious this choding was, but that's probably because she tries covering it up by attempting to impress the tanned girl.

Yuri really had no choice.

She walked right up behind Yoona and turned her around. In less than a second, her arms wrapped tightly around the younger girl’s waist, trying to reassure her worries.

Yoona stood dumbfounded. The veins rushing through her body quickened its pace, exhilarating her. It was the same feeling she had while playing on the field.

She was quick to react, circling Yuri’s shoulders and burying her face in the crook of the older girl’s neck. The latter’s loving voice filled her ears.

“There’s no such thing as perfect, Yoona.”

“Of course there is. Otherwise the word wouldn’t exist.” Yoona mumbled.

Yuri only chuckled. “It only exists to trick you, Yoona. To trick you into trying your best to become something that's not even real. The sooner you realise that, the stronger you'll become...I had to learn that the hard way."

Yoona contemplated on those words, finding them to have a deeper and personal meaning towards Yuri. She unconsciously smiled, loving the feeling of their synchronized breathing.

Yuri attempted to pull out of the hug, but Yoona only held on tighter. She knew she was being needy, but she really needed someone. It was usually her friends who comforted her with these things, but they weren’t here and Yuri was the next best thing. Maybe, better.

Yuri couldn’t help but giggle. Something Yoona had never heard come from the older girl’s mouth.

“Drive me to the juice bar?”

Yoona merely nodded.

“Right after I’m done hugging you.”

***

“Hey you…”

Sunny looked up from the blender as she heard the familiar voice. The bright smiles of the employees couldn’t overpower Hyoyeon’s as she stared at the shorter girl in front of her.

Sunny attempted to send a better one back.

“Hey…”

“Do I get a hug from my favourite employee?” Hyoyeon asked as she leaned against the counter.

“I don’t know. Do you deserve one?”

Hyoyeon smirked. “Yes. I helped you with English the other day.”

“Technically, Seo did. You were the one who called her for help.”

“I still helped, didn’t I?”

No matter how much Sunny tried to win, Hyoyeon always managed to find loop holes around their bickering. Really, Sunny had no reason to resist.

“Come here then.”

Hyoyeon didn’t waste time to duck under the counter and give the older girl a tight hug. She mumbled against her shoulder. “You smell like strawberries.”

“Don’t I always?”

They chuckled before they parted.

“Go sit down with Seo. I’ll whip up your favourite.”

Hyoyeon was going to give her a peck on the cheek but decided against it. She smiled and walked to the booth where Seohyun was sitting, reading a book.

Hyoyeon’s never read anything called “To Kill a Mockingbird.” Hell, she doesn’t even enjoy books in general, but she found herself asking.

“Hyunnie, what’s that about?”

Seohyun looked up from her book and smiled before placing a bookmark between the pages she was on.

“It’s a book that focuses on segregation and racial criticism in the 1930s. You are put in the shoes of a young girl as she discovers the wonders of reality and the injustice of the minorities in her town. She learns to consider the good and evil in everyone and how to accept people for who they are.”

Hyoyeon was a bit stupid when it came to big words. What the hell is a segregation?

“ahh~ I see…”

Seohyun merely smiled before continuing to read her book.

This kid should be in university by now… Hyo thought.

A few or so minutes later, the bell atop the door was enough to catch the blonde’s attention. She ly to glare at the person who walked in.

Sooyoung simply glanced before leading her group to a table. The only one missing was Yoona.

“God. What are they doing here?”

“You know they always come here, unnie.”

“Yeah but why now?”

Sunny came walking towards the two with an avocado smoothie in one hand and coconut juice in the other. “Order up, kids. Manager says I have 15 minutes to spare.”

She sat down beside Hyoyeon, handing them the drinks.

The two said their thanks before eagerly drinking their beverages. You could tell how much they loved Sunny’s drinks.

Just then, Yoona and Yuri came in. One wore a bright smile while the other looked a bit confused.

“Yul!” Yuri turned at the sound of her name, instantly smiling at her group. She walked up to them, leaving a pouting Yoona to join her own.

“Did you make it?”

“Maybe…”

“That’s a yes!” Sunny jumped up to give her friend a hug.

“Waah~ Unnie, congratulations!”

“You guys never asked me if I made it…” Hyoyeon frowned.

“Because we knew you would.”

The way Sunny ran her fingers through Hyoyeon’s hair and the smile the younger girl gave her was enough to raise Yuri’s suspicions.

“Yoong! Are you okay?” Like a protective mother, Tiffany was quick to get a hold of Yoona by her cheeks. She moved her head this way and that, inspecting her.

“I’m fine.” Yoona said with a chuckle.

“What happened? You just ran off after auditions. “Sooyoung moved over to give Yoona a place to sit.

The younger only sighed. “I didn’t make it.”

The table was silent. They all knew something like this would happen. Yoona couldn’t take losing or failing very easily so she’d resort to being alone. She said it cleared her head.

Jessica grabbed Yoona’s hand atop the table, giving her a reassuring smile. “They just lost a potential star and made the biggest mistake of their lives.”

The others nodded their heads in agreement.

“Drinks are on me!” Taeyeon exclaimed while raising a hand. And instantly, Yoona broke out into her alligator smile.

She didn’t need to make it into a dance team to know she was good at dancing. She just needed her friends to tell her.

And Yoona was more than happy with that.

You're a wonderful writer. I _really_ enjoyed reading this piece of fiction. I especially love the portrayal of Yoona in this story. Close enough to reality but different enough to make it fictitious.

Perfect icing to the cake is the fact that your stories are complete and you don't leave us underlings flapping in the breeze, yearning to be rescued from cliffs (and whatnot).

Thank you and keep it up!
