chapter 23
apocalypse II"Wakey, wakey, sleepy head. It's your turn." The scientist's voice disturbed Mir's sleep.
Mir eyes shot opened in alarm when he heard Soojung's high-pitched voice followed. "Oppa!"
"Hey! Stop! Don't!" Mir shouted and struggled when he saw the syringe in the insane girl's hand. The girl only smirked and silently injected the liquid into Soojung's vein.
Mir stopped struggling and stared wide eyes at Soojung who was sobbing. But, nothing happened. The little girl didn't scream. No convulsion. No white foam in . "O-oppa..." The little girl called weakly.
"Oh? It seemed to work this time?" The scientist said and looked on the crying little girl with excitement in her eyes. She went off and back with another syringe in her hand.
"What's that?" Soojung asked, scared at the dark red liquid in the syringe.
"This is the already infected blood." The psycho answered nonchalantly as she pointed to the walkers chained in the glass room. "I'll inject you with this to see if the antidote work."
With that, she again, stabbed the needle into the poor little girl arm, ignoring Mir's shouting and warning at her to stop and left after announcing she would come back later.
It took only ten minutes when Soojung's white skin was flushed and she was sweating profusely. The girl's breath was shallow and rapid. "Sweetie... Stay with me." Mir called desperately knowing he couldn't do anything. Soojung was already infected. She would die and turned.
Another ten minutes, the colour drained from Soojung's face and her breathing was slow and weakened. Soojung's small voice called again. "Oppa... I'm scared..."
"It's okay sweetie. I'm here. I'm here for you." Mir tried. His heart clenched at the sight of the girl's pale face. "Soojungie?" He called when those cute once bright eyes closed slowly. They stayed close and she was still and unmoving. Until after a few seconds, when those round eyes opened again. But no more sign of life in those eyes. The little girl growled and sneered. Struggled in her hold. Mir closed his eyes as he mourned for the little girl.
Mir opened his eyes again at the sound of footsteps. "Don't give me that look." The psycho girl rolled her eyes, pushing the stretcher where Soojung was on into the glass room where the other walkers was held. She turned to Mir. "You're next. Let's hope the antidote work after this." And Mir hoped nothing more than to wipe off that smug smile from those lips.
