"Is he okay?" Joon asked when Byunghee came back with sleeping Mir in his arms. He had sneaked out and followed the two and he had heard all of Mir's story. But, like always, he couldn't step in. He didn't find the courage to sooth the younger's pain and all he could do was leaving Mir in Byunghee's care. 

"He'll be. I hope." Byunghee answered simply. He saw how Joon was looking at Mir. "You know, he won't break if you hold him." 

Joon frowned. "What?"

Byunghee rolled his eyes. "I know you for years Joon. You're my bestfriend and my partner. When we work, you always stayed in the background everytime we had to interact with the victims of the case we handled. Or the relatives of the victims. You were always afraid of hurting them more. And you're acting like that again around Mir." (if you guys don't remember, i did write that Joon and Byunghee were detectives and partner in the apocalypse 1 before the outbreak)

Joon looked away. He was embarassed of that weakness of his. He was always hoping to be more like Byunghee. To be stronger. To be able to protect the one he care about. But, he wasn't. He was just a scared little boy. He couldn't even protect anyone. He couldn't take care of anyone. He couldn't help anyone. Not even Mir.

"You know. Mir isn't one of those victims. He's our family. Here, take him." Byunghee held out Mir to Joon which Joon automatically took into his arms without even thinking. "Take care of him this time. He'll be grateful." Byunghee said and left Joon dumbfounded with a sleeping boy in his arms.

 Mir stirred a bit and shivered at the coldness. He instinctively snuggled closer to Joon's chest for warmth, inviting a small adoring smile from the older. "I guess, I could try."
