chapter 20
apocalypse IIMir had taken Byunghee to another farm house a bit far from their new campground. Unlike the first house, the other houses around were in bad condition. The one him and Mir were in right now was no better. The front door had been ripped from its hinges. The insides were totally upside down. There were splattered of dried blood at the wall, tables and chairs. Byunghee followed the quiet Mir whom moved to what Byunghee assumed as the kitchen.
Mir stopped and looked down. Byunghee peered over Mir's shoulder and saw two dead bodies lying together. Seemingly died while embracing each other. On the dead man's hand was a gun. They were already rotted almost leaving only skeletons and couldn't possibly be recognized. But Mir could. He knew because that was exactly how their position were when he fled out of the house. "Let's burry them." He said in a surprisingly steady voice.
Byunghee was about to ask about Mir's sudden request when his eyes caught a picture with broken frame on the floor. It was of a happy couple with three children. And one of them was... "Oh... Mireu..." Byunghee breathed and pulled the younger into a hug. "I'm here for you."
"I know..." Mir whispered barely audible. "My sister..." The boy choked. "Hyosun noona probably still in her bedroom."
Byunghee tightened his hold on the smaller boy. "Let's bury her too." And he felt Mir nodded against his shoulder.
