Chapter 12
The Exiled Ice Princess[FLASHBACK]
At the cafe....
About 15 minutes later, Jessica and Yuri stared eye to eye on each other. The spark on Yuri’s eyes twinkled like the shining
stars above the chilly night sky. But those sparkles were not enough to pierce successfully right through the ice princess.
Jessica motioned her head for Yuri to sit in front of her, facing each other. Jessica ordered the coffees that she knew both they liked.
Of course Jessica knew what Yuri liked. They were inseparable way back on the olden days. Ahhh! The good old days. She thought.
Then dismissed it bitterly.
“So what’s the very important information?”she asked Yuri right after their orders were settled. Yuri’s eyes flickered with
sadness and are now glassy, Jessica observed when she darted her eyes on hers.
“Ah..I..ah..am first wanted to sincerely apologize to you, Sica-ah. I’m really sorry, really really sorry Sica-ah.” tears now threatening to fall down.
Jessica felt pity for her. She wanted to hold her face, but successfully restrained herself. “So what now?” dismissing her apology as less harsh
as she could.
“Ahh..ahm.. Taeyeon likes you.” Jessica continued sipping her iced coffee. Not interested, Yuri thought so she continued.
“She loved you.” Yuri got her attention.
Jessica snorted at the idea. “Are you kidding me? She didn’t even want to talk to me. And in case you haven’t noticed before,
Taeyeon and I don’t even talk to each other that much given how she casually neglected my presence.” It pained Jessica just
remembering the thought.
“I don’t really know why exactly she did that to you, but I assure you that the rest of us were aware of the situation between the
two of you. And also, I heard her say that she loved you. So..”
“Pfff.” while Jessica rolled her eyes. “Did she say it directly to you, or you just heard it from someone else?”
“I happened to overhear the last part of her conversation with Tiffany this afternoon, about her feelings toward you, as I walked
into her apartment. They were in her bedroom. They didn’t notice my presence because of the sound the TV was emitting,
displaying your performance with Krystal. Oh, congratulations by the way.” Jessica just stared at her, so basically she continued.
“And..uhm..so getting on with it, given how close we are before, you know the hugging and all, Taeyeon suspected that I liked you
the same way that she do. She even told me upfront that I loved you. Tss.” Yuri shrugged and her face slightly contorted.
“But you’re not right? Tell me.” Jessica cleared, looking straight right through her.
“Okay, uhm.. I love you, Sica..but as a friend only. You know, the friendly kind of love? Hehe” Yuri tried to cross her point by waving
both her palms in front of her. But Jessica knew the truth. And she felt assured, somehow. Weird, but she feels comforted.
“So..I don’t love you, like how Taeyeon do, but she thought that I loved you the same way that she do so...” she croaked, Jessica
paid much attention to the speaking girls in front of her so she obviously noticed how her voice croaked. Jessica still played her
coolness. But inside? Dying to hug her.
“So..what are you trying to say?” then sipped her coffee.
“I wanted to propose to you how you might be able to get back with Taeyeon. Make her jealous and all that stuff....”
“And why would you think that I hate Taeyeon the most? Why, is there something you want to tell me?” settling both her arms in
the table, she leaned forward to Yuri.
“She was to be blamed you know? She should be blamed! I know that she talked to the Chairman right before all 8 of us were
instructed to gather for a meeting. I just have this strong gut feeling that she was behind all of this. Given how she act around you,
neglecting your presence, no wonder she wanted you out. Karma for her though, she only realized your worth and her love for you
when you’re already out and moving on.” She chuckled bitterly.
“Okay.” was all Jessica’s response. So Yuri wanted to know for sure if Jessica agreed with her.
“Okay? As in like okay okay?” curious eyes lingered to Jessica’s now sullen face.
“Yeah, as in we get back at her. You’ll help me.” Jessica replied, clearly not happy.
“From now on, report to me the group’s whereabouts, your upcoming schedules and stuff like that. Who knows? I might pop out
suddenly out of nowhere. Hmm” Jessica instructed Yuri gloomily before she stood up and walked right out of the cafe, giving Yuri
no time to respond.
She just sat there. Eyes blinking. What have I done? She muttered hopelessly to herself. Well, at least I can be beside her. That’s
all that matters, right? She convinced herself while sulking at the coffee table that’s recently deserted by her loved one. Her loved one.
I love her, what can I do? She asked in resignation to herself.
