Foreword
Prologue.
The chimes hanging above the door jingled, signalling the entrance of another customer. Dana looked up from the counter, noticing two familiar figures standing in the doorway. She ducked her head and muttered a small, 'welcome' under her breath. Her nerves were uncontrollable, her heart felt like it was beating out of her chest.
They were here.
Kai froze in place the moment his eyes met her figure. She was breathtaking beyond belief.
Its her, he thought.
Her long chocolate brown hair was neatly pulled back in a ponytail and her short apron complemented the small curves of her body.
Dana glanced up slightly, unintentionally locking gazes with him for a short while before she looked away. Kai exhaled a bated breath he didn't even know he was holding.
Her eyes; he fawned. They were jet black. Never in his entire life had Kai ever come across another human with such a deep eye colour.
Sehun glanced back and forth between the both of them, and things just clicked in his mind. Kai sauntered over to an empty table, sliding into the chair smoothly as he continued ogling at the girl again. He had seen her many times in the hallways; right before she looked up and turned the other direction. It was almost as if she was avoiding him.
He always did wonder why.
Dana gripped onto her notepad tightly as her colleague pushed her over to take orders.
"Hi," she breathed and Kai's eyes wandered over to hers, absorbing every curve of her face.
"Hey, can I have one chocolate frappucino and one iced americano please?" Sehun casually ordered, his voice flowing like honey.
She scribbled the orders quickly as she held the notepad up to cover her face. "Anything else for you?"
Sehun was just about to open his mouth to reply when Kai cut him off.
"Yeah, a date with you would be nice"
She looked up at him, utterly shocked at his response. Something snapped in her and a rush of adrenaline surged through her veins. "I'm sorry? what is that supposed to mean?"
Kai smirks as he hears her heartbeat accelerate. "It means what it means."
"Look- sir, if you haven't realised, this is a cafe not a bar. you can't flirt with the waitresses and expect to get something out of it."
"It was a simple question—"
"I don't think you heard me right either," she clenched her fist as she looked at his smug face. "Now if you'd excuse me sir, I need to-"
"Stop calling me that."
"Excuse me? I—"
"I'm sure a pretty girl like you would know my name." Kai interjected. She turned her back towards the pair and curtly shook her head.
"You've probably got the wrong person, I—"
"Choi Dana," Kai spoke, his voice deep and husky, weakening Dana's resolve. "Don't pretend that we're not from the same school, how stupid do you take me for."
She slowly turned back to look at him; bewildered that this guy she'd never dared to look at in the hallways, knew her name.
"How do you know my name?"
"Just like how you know mine." he paused to glance around the cafe. "Say it."
"Huh?"
"My name. I want to hear you say my name."
She needed to get back to work and He was bothering her; might as well get this over and done with she thought. She crossed her arms, resigned to defeat as her lids fluttered to a close.
"Kai." she muttered softly, barely audible but he heard it.
She opened her eyes again and peered curiously into his cool grey orbs. Had they always been that colour? Or had she never noticed?
"Kai, right?" Kai turned rigid as he felt a strong jolt of electricity shoot through his veins as she called out his name. Her sweet voice rung in his ears, and he felt his inner wolf rumble in content.
Dana watched as a flash of blue passed through his irises and left as soon as it came. Suddenly, she felt like she'd been hit by a wave of electricity as she jerked up in shock.
She gasped in shock.
What the hell was going on?
A few seconds ticked by as they continued to stare intensely at each other. Kai let out a sudden huff from his nose and chuckled deeply.
"That," he began as he folded his arms on the table and leaned his whole upper body over it. "Is absolutely right." he smirked.
Dana was utterly captivated by his smile. She had to physically pinch herself to move as she started to back track towards the counter.
"I'll be right back with your drinks" she whispered as she rushed back to the counter.
Kai turned his head towards Sehun who was merely smiling in amusement. The latter let out a snort as the brunette raised his brow questioningly.
"I knew she was yours the moment we walked in."
"Didn't think this would happen so soon. I even forgot it's the month of a blood moon eclipse. Serri never mentioned anything about it."
"But you obviously knew these things were bound to happen to all of us eventually. Man, this is so exciting! I can't believe the fearsome Blue Alpha has just officially met his match. Boy, I can't wait to see her your life over." Sehun leaned back into his chair with a smirk. Kai rubbed his palm over his face before massaging his temples.
"Ugh these Goddamn imprints are annoying."
Dana returned to the table with their drinks a few minutes later, avoiding all eye contact with Kai.
"Here you go." she murmured shyly, biting her lower lip. Just as she was about to walk away, Kai grasped her wrist and pulled her back to him.
Her eyes rounded in shock when she practically fell onto his lap. His musky scent overwhelmed her as his arms wrapped around her petite frame. Kai gazed deeply into her soul, his hands hovering over the small of her back. And Dana found herself shamelessly staring back at him.
What the hell are you getting yourself into, Dana.
It was as if they had suddenly been ed into a whole other plane and developed a strong connection that Dana was starting to feel dazed and confused.
The corners of Kai's lips tugged up into a boyish grin as he curled a strand of stray hair behind her ear.
"So, how about that date?"
