☽Truth Be Told☽
Dana stirred on the bed as she regained her consciousness. Kai perked up in his seat; waiting for her to wake up again. That whole unexpected episode had inflicted much more shock than either of them had expected. Kai felt horrible for everything.
He shouldn't have brought her back here, what was he thinking?
But he had to do something. She almost slipped out of his grasp had he been a second too late. Her eyes pried open as she squinted against the harsh ceiling lights. She turned her head only to notice Kai's figure next to the bed; staring at her with worry in his eyes.
"Hey," he whispered, afraid to raise his voice in case she freaked out again. Dana wished that this night didn't happen, she wanted all her assumptions to deem false. Her eyes darted around the unfamiliar room which seemingly belonged to Kai, considering the big 'K' hanging on the wall.
After what seemed like an eternity for Kai, she spoke; reaching out for a glass of water on the bedside table.
"May I—" Kai stood up to grab the glass and brought it over to her figure on the bed. Dana pushed herself up into an upright position to accept the glass of water and downed the liquid in one go. Kai shifted his weight from one foot to the other as he eyed her nervously. Dana caught onto his anxiety and felt a little bad for making his worry over her like this. She shifted on the bed and patted the empty space she had made for him. Kai did as she wanted and sat on the other side of the bed; both their shoulders touching. Kai hadn't expected her to be so calm about this actually.
He had expected her to point fingers at him and throw pillows, warning him to stay away from her; but this was a pleasant surprise. After all, she was the daughter of the Head Administrators of the Royal Legislation. She probably knew more than he would've expected.
"Would you care to explain, or should I voice my speculations?" she asked as she leaned her back against the headboard. Kai's dark eyes were glassy; with a tinge of concern and a whole lot of reluctance. He sighed.
"The day I first made eye contact with you; was the day I imprinted on you." his voice was steady and clear as he stared into empty space. "Only wolves do that whole imprinting thing so it's not difficult to figure out what I am."
Dana glanced at him from the corners of her eyes. She could feel the tiny sparks where their shoulders were lightly connected and she almost couldn't believe the situation she was in right now. She was going to be tied to a wolf for the rest of her life.
How the girl remained composed, was a mystery itself.
"So I'm your mate," the word tingled on the tip of her tongue as she gazed into his grey orbs. "What else?"
Kai's tongue darted out to swipe his lower lip as he turned his attention to her. "Well, I'm the alpha, there are twelve other betas in my pack; eleven boys one girl, who's also a mate. This is the wolf manor, it's pretty much the safest place for you to be so long as you're—" Kai cleared his throat and averted his gaze.
"—mine. There's also a witch," Dana's ears perked up at the mention of it and she felt a tinge of excitement. The presence of a witch meant that she could finally have the chance to initiate her magic powers. "and I stay in this house so it's probably better if you move in too." Kai ended lamely as he straightened his back and stretched his limbs. The male walked over to his wardrobe and pulled out a hoodie from the drawer.
Dana bit her lip in contemplation, a question threatening to slip past her lips as she stared at his broad back. "You knew about my parents, didn't you?"
Kai's hand froze in mid-air for a second. A tired s
