Bonds & Destiny Ch. 18

    Sungyeol smiled to himself as he felt Myungsoo’s arms lacing around his waist from behind. The older man stops his hands on Sungyeol’s stomach giving it a gentle rub. Sungyeol’s baby bump was more evident than ever. Sungyeol had been resting well, and as Dr. Jang announced the baby is growing well enough that it passed the stages where there should be any concerns. Myungsoo rests his chin on Sungyeol’s shoulders as the latter leaned back on the sofa between Myungsoo’s long legs. He cupped his hands over Myungsoo’s larger ones feeling every rough lines on the raven haired man’s knuckles. Myungsoo’s fingers felt smooth against his fingers despite it’s rough appearance. His fingers brushed along Myungsoo’s thicker ones and stopping at the thin metal band ringing around the raven haired man’s ring finger. Soon his lips curved downward forming a frown at a sudden thought that came to him.

    “Wae, what’s wrong babe?” Myungsoo questions, his chin still resting on Sungyeol’s shoulders while his head is turned to the side facing the other’s left cheek.

    “You make me feel bad.” Sungyeol simply replied.

    “Why is that?” Myungsoo questions, his voice had a hint of distress.

    “You re-wore your wedding ring...”

    “Haha...actually I never took it off, just only when I see you.” Myungsoo retorted a bit shyly, not making the situation any better. In his honesty, Myungsoo failed to read the situation until he looked down at Sungyeol’s own hands; long slender fingers, clean from any object binding them. He silently mouthed an ‘O’ in reaction to Sungyeol’s troubles.

    “...” Sungyeol’s pout grew until Myungsoo finally understood the reasoning behind it.

    “Baby, it’s ok, really. I’m not mad, so why are you beating yourself over it? Plus, we had some busy months, so it’s not a big deal.” Myungsoo said causally.

    “...Yeobo…”Sungyeol’s cuteness made Myungsoo want to squeeze him harder, so the older man resorted to scooting in closer, and pulling Sungyeol into a tighter hug. “ It is a big deal...I...I can’t believe I forgot too…”

    “Haha you’re too silly getting upset over it while I’m not even__”

    “Of course I’m upset!” Sungyeol went on a little rant sitting upright.

    “You want me to not wear it?” Myungsoo teased receiving a glare from the latter.

    “You wouldn’t dare…!” Sungyeol eyes narrowed.

    “Oh gosh...you are just too cute.” Myungsoo couldn’t help but smile at his spouse. The latter then decided to lean in to kiss Sungyeol on the cheek and held tighter onto him.

    “hmpt…”

    The brunette felt himself being turned around by Myungsoo’s solid grip. His husband place both hands on either side of his cheeks and stared intently into his eyes. With all the sudden changes in their life Sungyeol couldn’t believe he had been so thoughtless towards towards Myungsoo. Of course, Sungyeol held on to his own wedding ring like a treasure, but ever since the divorce it was too painful for him to still carry it; Sungyeol had kept it in a box, now with Myungsoo he was left feeling so guilty. He made mental note to take it out later.

    “Listen, whether we have our rings or not, I’m just grateful. I’m just so grateful that you gave me a second chance, I’m so grateful that you’re in my arms again, I’m grateful that we’re here like this, I’m grateful that you’re mine, so don’t feel bad ok? No matter what you do I still...no,I’ll always love you.”

    The sincerity and seriousness in Myungsoo’s words meant the world to Sungyeol; it really did. If anything, Myungsoo was the worst sweet talker in the world, so if there are such words coming out of Myungsoo’s mouth; he really means them.

    “...Thank you Yeobo... I . love. you. too.” Sungyeol reply sweetly, his heart feeling a bit better. The brunette slowly leans in pressing their lips together.

    “I promise, I’ll get you a new, a better ring.” Myungsoo stated after they pulled away from each other. He only wanted the best for Sungyeol.

    “No, I only want my original ring.” Sungyeol pouted teasingly before giving the older man one of his famously cute smiles.

    “Ok.” Myungsoo agreed giving Sungyeol a kiss on the lips again two or three more times.

    “AIIIGOOO, you two love birds don’t know when to stop your greasiness. You’re making me feel all itchy and gross!  Mind you there are children present in the house!” Woohyun scolded coming out from the kitchen with a large bowl of popcorn, and pitcher of strawberry lemonade. “I leave you two alone for 30 minutes and look what it’s gotten to?”

    “Too bad Woohyun, you just have to deal with us if you want to stay for movie marathon.” Sungyeol said plainly.

    “Aiiigooo you are impossible, Myungsol will start catching that if you keep on living that way! Do you want to infect him with grease to?”

    “I’m already use to it Uncle Woohyun.” Myungsol popped up behind him carrying a tray of cookies some milk for himself.

    “Greasiness? You should be one to talk; I’ve seen you and Gyu, so ...No!”

“Aish, whatever!” Woohyun groan trying to hide his own embarrassment.

    It was a Saturday, Sunggyu had went off to the next city for a board meeting for the districts’ Principal. Woohyun decided to leave shop to the part-timers to go visit Sungyeol and his little family. It’s been a while since he visited the couple and Myungsol, so he figured it was a good opportunity to visit his good friends, hangout and hold their own movie marathon.

    “Oh chill your horses Woohyun!” Sungyeol nagged.

    “I’ve been chillin’ my ‘horses’ for years since high school, please spare me any more.” Woohyun replied snarkily.

    “Any more complaints from you and we won’t stop our grease.”

    “Gaah!”

    “What movie should we start with first?!” Sungyeol asks pressing on the movie box’s remote.

    “FROZEN!” Both Woohyun and Myungsol chirped up.

    “Oooh but we saw that five times already. What about Coraline?” Sungyeol asks flipping through the title on the screen.

    “No!” Myungsoo interjected shortly, but firmly. The other three people in the house chuckles at him; they all knew Myungsoo was deathly afraid of that movie after the first time watching because the people had buttons for eyes, and that just wasn’t his thing. It amuses Sungyeol that even their son wasn’t as afraid of it once he explained to him that it wasn’t real, and evil spider mommies doesn’t exist in real life, and Woohyun had to add in that Sungyeol’s limbs were as dangly as the spider mommy, and Myungsol’s umma wasn’t scary at all.  

    Couple of weeks ago...

    “Eomma I’m scared! I don’t like this movie anymore!” Myungsol cried out crawling from the his side of the sofa between Sungyeol and Myungsoo; into Sungyeol’s lap. Myungsoo silently nodded along with his son.

“It’s ok baby, its just an animation! Everything is fake.”

    “I know...but the spidey mommy is so scary…her long legs are so sharp and pointy”

    “Yeh...and why do they not have eyes?” Myungsoo added with real concerns in his voice making Sungyeol and Woohyun laugh out loudly.

    “Aigoooo you’re too cute Myungsol baby! Look at it this way, your Sungyeol Umma has just as long limbs as that spidey mommy! If she ever come into real life your mommy could totally kick her ! BAM BAM like that” Woohyun reasoned waving his fists in a punching motion into the air.

    “Hyung! You’re not helping!” Sungyeol scolded.

    “Why don’t they eyes? Why buttons? Why is everything so creepy? Is this even a kid’s movie?” Myungsoo went on a mantra, his questions weren’t answered though.

    “Emm….” Myungsol clinged closer to Sungyeol.

    “It’s ok baby! Like I said this is just a movie, there is no real spider mommy imposters.”

    “Yep! Your mom could almost technically be a spider mommy with his long pointy limbs ahahahahhahha” Woohyun joked.

    "Nhhnnoooooooooo I don't want spider mommy to replace Eomma!" Myungsol’s eyes grew wide at Uncle Woohyun’s statement.

    “Woohyun! Stop scaring him!”

    “Ok ok, I’m kidding! Spider mommies don’t exist little baby. Am I right Myungsoo?” Woohyun turned over to the raven haired man; but he didn’t get an answer. “Myungsoo?”

    “...” Myungsoo sat silently, hands gripping to his seat. They had gotten to the scene where the fake spider mom were trying to sew buttons onto Coraline’s eyes.

    “Emm...that’s true...Eomma has long limbs too, and Eomma is so sweet and so pretty! Not scary at all!” Myungsol concluded. “Myungsol is not scared anymore emhm!”

    The ultrasound results came out good according to Dr. Jang. The doctor even printed out copy photos of what Myungsol’s little sibling looked like for them to take home with. Sungyeol had a tight hold on the pictures in hand, and studied every detail of it. The baby looked so precious inside of him, and he couldn’t help but smile to himself while looking at the small child in the ultrasound photos. Sungyeol had been 6 and a half months in.

    Sungyeol could see small shapes within the photos forming a little head, little back,  little arms, and little legs; and even the closed slits that formed the baby’s eyes. The baby lay so snuggly inside Sungyeol, looking so delicate and small inside the ultrasound photos, and that made Sungyeol want to quickly have it, to kiss and hold.  

    The nurses had handed him the photos before entering the office, and now he was waiting with Myungsoo for his consultation with Dr. Jang. The cheerful doctor entered with file folder in hand.     

    “Annyong Sungyeol-shi, Myungsoo-shi!” Dr. Jang greeted cheerfully setting the patient charts down on his desk.

    “Annyong Dr. Jang” Sungyeol greeted the doctor eagerly.

    “Well everything looks good! Both you and your baby are having good progress, and the baby’s growth is at a normal level now.” Dr. Jang simply said leaning back on his chair as he talked with the couple. Dongwoo eyed the couple. “ Looks like you’ve been resting up well, and ‘somebody’s’ been doing a good job at taking care of you.”

    Sungyeol smiled happily Dongwoo’s statement, while Myungsoo smirked contently wrapping an arm around Sungyeol’s back.

    “That’s wonderful Dr. Jang! Thank you!” Sungyeol heart lifted by ten folds at the news. He had been quite concern since his last pregnancy.

    “Dongwoo is fine, don’t thank me, thank yourself for taking care and staying healthy, and your husband.” Dongwoo said warmly. The friendly doctor had took a liking to the couple since he was first assigned to them.

    The couple walk hand in hand after leaving Dongwoo’s office. Sungyeol could feel Myungsoo hands over his own. The older man held them firm dragging them towards the family car. Myungsoo eyed his watch quickly.

    “It’s time to pick up Myungsol from school.”

    “Ok Yeobo. Let’s go.” Sungyeol smiled contently staring at the side of Myungsoo’s face. His husband also glowed of happiness. He laced his fingers through Myungsoo’s forming a tighter hold.
