Krisho: Left Feet
AU drabble dumpDrabble 27: Left Feet
A smile space was cleared on the dance floor, and Kris and Suho gave each other a nervous smile as the small quartet they’d hired for the event struck up a tune. The guests whispered amongst each other and smiled fondly at the newly-wed couple as they shyly made their way into the space and stood in front of each other.
“Shall we dance?” Yifan smiled kindly at Junmyeon’s flustered face.
Junmyeon bit his lip. “U-uh…sure,” he muttered. He felt a little uncomfortable with all of the expectant gazes resting on his back as their friends and family waited for them to share the first dance of the night.
Yifan lifted one of Junmyeon’s hands into his own, and placed Junmyeon’s other hand on his shoulder. “See, it’s easy. Just like this.” He began swaying slightly, and gently guided Junmyeon a few steps around in a circle. “No need to be nervous.”
Junmyeon winced and squeaked in embarrassment when he stepped forward too fast and landed squarely on Yifan’s toe. “Sorry!”
Yifan squeezed Junmyeon’s hand tightly to keep him from backing away. “Whoa, calm down, it’s ok, I’m not hurt.”
“Are you sure?”
“I’m fine,” Yifan squeezed his hand comfortingly, and then missed the beat and crushed Junmyeon’s foot beneath his own. “Oh, whoops!”
“It’s ok!” Junmyeon hurriedly disengaged his foot and tried not to wince when he followed Yifan through a light circle.
The audience, thankfully, didn’t seem to realize how they were tripping all over each other’s feet, and simply seemed to be cooing at how adorable they looked. Junmyeon took heart in that this dance would come off as a happy memory to most of the guests and not an embarrassing one as Yifan stepped on his toes again.
“Sorry.”
“It’s fine, really.” Junmyeon sighed in relief when the quartet played the final notes of the waltz, and then sat back as the guests burst into cheers and catcalls when Yifan leaned down to give Junmyeon a kiss (even though the kiss was more of an apology than a declaration of love, but really, no one needed to know that).
“Let’s lay off of the waltzing in the future, yes?” Junmyeon murmured into Yifan’s ear as the floor flooded with guests and the quartet faded off into the shadows and dubstep began blasting through the reception area.
“Sounds good,” Yifan chuckled and squeezed Junmyeon’s arm gently as he guided him off of the dance floor towards a pair of chairs so that they could rest their aching toes.
