Class President
True Feelings
Jimin and I were still holdings hands when we arrived at my classroom, it passed twenty minutes after the second school bell or in other words, I was dead meat. I hoped Mr. Chan wouldn’t get mad, but I was so happy that I lost the sense of time. I looked at Jimin, he was staring at me so passionately, I couldn’t describe how I was feeling at that moment. Happiness, love, those butterflies on my stomach and that strange electricity all over my body.
"Do you really have to go?" He asked with hopeful eyes.
"Yes and you too," I said. "I don't want you to skip classes for me."
"Okay then." He chuckled as he hugged me again. "It's so cute that you're worried about my studies."
He let me go and when I was about to open the door to face my classmates and a mad Mr. Chan, Jimin ’s arms embraced me into a tight hug from behind. My heart almost stopped with his touch, his strong chest was resting on my back and somehow I could feel his heart beat fast.
"Do your best at class." He whispered in my ear.
"Same to you." I whispered back.
He let me go again and this time, he turned around to his classroom. I opened the door after took a deep breath, I saw my classmates looking at me with surprise, even Dahee. I looked around and it was weird because there was no sight of Mr. Chan. I didn’t know if I should be happy or worried because he could have gone to the principal's office.
"Where’s Mr. Chan?" I asked.
"He didn’t arrive yet." Changyu, a guy that seats in the front row of the class, said to me.
I sighed relieved, that was really a lucky day. I made my way to my desk, where I sat next to Dahee, who was looking at me with surprise.
"So," Dahee started. "Jimin talked with you."
"Yes," I answered while trying to make the most neutral face. "And I’ll tell you later!" She made a mad expression so I gave her a hint. "But we talked about Sunday."
"Are you really going to leave me with this curiosity the whole class!?" She whispered/yelled at me.
"I’ll tell you later, I promise." I smiled at her.
She sighed. "Alright, by the way, I’m glad Mr. Chan isn’t here, he would probably call the director."
"I thought I was going to get scolded." I sighed.
"I met Mr. Chan in the hallway, he said he forgot something in the car." She explained.
"Thank you," I hugged her.
"You’re owning me a wish." She said.
Mr. Chan entered in the classroom at that moment. He was holding a small paper box and lots of white papers, probably the documents for the class president.
"I’m sorry students," He said. "I forgot the box for the votes inside my car. So, like I said two days ago, in this class, we are going to select the class president and vice-president."
"Mr. Chan," Hyemi raised her hand to ask a question. "Who are we going to vote?"
"The class president must be someone responsible and focused. Since you are from an A class, this class president is one of the important ones, and this class president should never, but never, be absent." He explained. "Just in case of illness. If that happens, the vice-president is the one responsible."
"And which are his or her duties?" Dahee asked.
"He or she has to attend every reunion to represent our class. Like I said, the A class’s presidents are important so choose well. I’ll let you talk with each other to think about the candidates." The professor said.
All my classmates joined me and Dahee, deciding the capabilities of each student. In the end, only Hyemi, Changyu, Dahee and I were the ablest to turn into the class president. Dahee was surprised when our classmates said she had the capacity, but she didn't work for it. It was kind of true since she was a little uninterested in studies in the past year.
"I really don’t want to be the class president, it’s too much work for me." She nagged.
Everyone laughed, but they decided to give her a chance. So, she was a candidate. Next one to be evaluated was Hyemi, she was like Dahee last year, a bit uninterested. She wasn’t sure of her work as class president would be enough. Everyone agreed with her. So the remaining people to evaluate were Changyu and I. The first one was me, my classmates said I have the capacity to turn the class president, since I’m one of the better students in the classroom. I’m responsible and focused on studies, they said. Yes, I’m responsible but focused… no. Changyu was the last one to evaluate, he said he didn’t want to be the class president because he was last year and, according to him, it was reunions after reunions, and he got out from reunions late. So, all my classmates were divided in me and Dahee. I thought she had potential and if she work hard, she would be a good president.
