First Night

The Love Bet

Chapter 5

"Let me out please!" Sooyeon yelled, while banging on the door so hard that the people on the other side were wondering if she might just break it. "I'll do whatever you want me to, but can you please let me out?"

When no reply came she went and sat back down onto the bed. She did not like the situation she was in. Not one bit. She couldn't believe that her friends and family were able to lock her in the guest room. There wasn't even a lock but they somehow managed it. How? Sooyeon did not know.

An idea popped into her head and she ran back to the door. "I don't have my pajamas! Could you just open the door so I could get them?"

Once again, there was no reply. Then a few minutes later, when Sooyeon gave up asking, the door opened up really quickly and a pair of pajamas dropped in.

Her head dropped and she sighed. She decided to give up.

The door to the washroom then opened and a half  Jiyong emerged. She looked at him and then quickly looked away. He saw her and stopped in his tracks.

"What are you doing here? Isn't this supposed to be my room?"

 "About that," she started but wasn't able to continue as the sight in front of her was distracting. She tried looked everywhere but at Jiyong for him to realize that she wasn't able to continue for a certain reason: the lack of clothes. She was getting quite uncomfortable being in the same room with a half- guy; even if he was good looking. Finally understanding, he excused himself and changed. He came back after about a minute and repeated the question, "So what are you doing here?"

"They locked me in with you," she said almost inaudibly. She was sitting on the bed across from where Jiyong was standing.

"Who?" He tried to look at her in the eye but wasn't able to.

"Everyone. My parents, siblings, my friends, your family. Everyone," she replied, still looking away.

"My family? They're here?" He didn't think that they would be here. They had no reason to stay the night, so why would they? He didn't try to dig too deep because his family could be like that sometimes.

"Yes, my parents invited them to stay the night. They came when you were in the washroom and shoved me in here." Her eyes grew wide when she saw Jiyong walk closer and sit next to her. She didn't want him to notice so she hid her face. He, on the other hand, smirked at her reaction.

 "I guess you're stuck here with me then," he smirked, loving the reaction he was getting. He was a player after all. He couldn’t help but play with her; it was just too easy, even if he didn't like her.

"Just the two of us," he scooted closer to her, "all alone." He leaned in and almost burst out laughing at seeing a wide eyed Sooyeon.

On the other side of the door, everyone was all over the place. The older people went to bed because the day had worn them out while the younger ones were still up and awake. Most of them were in the living room trying to find something to watch while Yoona was in the kitchen trying to find some snacks to eat.

The ones in the living room had just sat down to find a good movie but were running into trouble agreeing with each other’s choices.

“I say we watch a scary movie," suggested Sunny, who was pouting and was insisting, for the past five minutes, to watch this scary movie.

“No, let’s watch a comedy. They are so much better,” whined Elisa. She couldn't watch scary movies; every time she did she wasn’t able to sleep for the next couple days. She would rather watch a comedy, or even an action film; she didn't mind those, just anything other than a horror.

 "Sunny, we can watch a scary movie another time," said Taeyeon, while Sunny pouted some more. “We always watch scary movies, let’s watch something else.” Sunny just nodded; Taeyeon was right, they do always watch scary movies.

Elisa smiled and everyone began trying to figure out what movie they wanted to watch. It was harder than it should have been, but it seemed that trying to decide what to watch with seven people deciding was hard. Five minutes later they had narrowed the selection into five movies.

“You know what; I’m going to see what’s taking the snacks so long. I’ll be right back.” With that Seunghyun left them and went to the kitchen. He saw a girl who looked as clueless as ever just staring at the cupboards.

“Ahem,” he walked in not knowing how to say what to say to her, coming to ask for snacks was only the partial reason for him coming to the kitchen, the other was that he was attracted to Yoona. He found her gorgeous and couldn't help but want to get closer to her.

She jumped a bit at his voice and turned around, “Yes?”

“Hi, I was just wondering about the snacks," he said and crocked his eyebrows.

“Oh, about those. I don’t think we have any. I’ve tried looking but I can’t seem to find any,” She pointed to the fridge and cupboards.

“Let me check. Let’s see if we can come up with something to eat. If we can’t get anything here then we’ll most likely have to go out and buy things because the guys in there love their food.” He went up to the fridge and saw that it was sadly true; there really was nothing there. He tried the cupboards next. “Huh, there really is nothing.”

“See, that’s why it’s been taking so long!” She bit her lip, she knew what Seunghyun said was true about ultimately having to go out and buy snacks.

“So, do you want to go out and buy some snacks?”

“It’s not like we have another option. Let me just tell the others.” She went back into the living room and came back a second later.

“Let’s go!” she said, smiling.

~~~
"What?" Sooyeon tried to move backwards but soon realized that there was no space left on the bed and if she moved any further she would fall off. He couldn't help it anymore and chuckled. He got up and walked to the other side of the bed. He decided that that was enough teasing. He wasn’t that much of a bastard to actually do something to her; he had his limits. The look of pure fear was a key factor for him not wanting to do anything. "It's alright, I won't do anything. Just get changed and we can figure out the sleeping arrangements."
She nodded without saying anything; she grabbed her pajamas and headed into the washroom. She came out a minute later wearing her polar bear pajamas.
He scrunched his nose slightly, not liking her pajamas one bit. He shook his head; he didn't want to think about Sooyeon and how she looks or her actually being his wife and him having to spend at least four years with her. He promised himself that for tonight he would not worry about that. Rather, he really felt like playing with her a bit more since, honestly, she's really easy to tease. Most of the time the girls he's with readily cling on to him and it took away most of the fun. Not that he didn’t enjoy going out with those girls. However, Jiyong loved playing around; it felt good.
So, he lied down on the bed and pretended to sleep before Sooyeon noticed him as she came out the washroom. Sooyeon had no idea what to do. Did he just indirectly say to sleep on the couch or sleep next to him? She really didn't want to sleep on the couch. It was really uncomfortable, but she didn't want to sleep next to him either.
"Jiyong?" She stood in front of the bed awkwardly.
"What?" he mumbled, peeking through his eyes and looking at her.
"Uh, where am I supposed to sleep?" she asked weakly, fearing the answer she might get.
This time he didn't say anything but patted the space next to him on the bed.
Her eyes widened. She was somewhat expecting this answer but a little part of her hoped that he would say something else. She absolutely did not want to sleep with him on the same bed. Then again, it was a choice between the couch that was too small for her and the bed with a member of the opposite sleeping next to her. She didn’t know what a better option at that point was.
He peeked through his eyes again and found her face to be very amusing. She looked so lost and conflicted that Jiyong opened his eyes fully and patted the space next to him once again. "Aren't you going to come? We are married now. Wouldn't it be odd if you didn't? What will happen when your parents come tomorrow and see us not sleeping together?"
"But my parents know we just met a day ago. They would not expect that from me." She made a point to forget that Jiyong mentioned sleeping with her.
"Two days actually. Now are you really not going to come?"
"I think I prefer the couch actually." She turned around and started walking towards it.
"I could also forcefully bring you over and then you never know what else I might do," he said with his eyebrows raised.
She froze. She didn’t know him well enough to know if he was just kidding or actually meant it. Even if she did, her friends told her that she was bad at reading people so it wouldn’t help her even if she did know him.
She slowly turned around but stayed where she was standing.
“So? Which option do you choose? Are you going to come here by yourself or am I going to have to make you come here?” He tried not to sound too forceful because, unlike Sooyeon, he knew how to read people and he could see that if he went too far she might actually start crying. He didn’t like the sight of a crying woman.
“I…I’ll come,” she mumbled and Jiyong had to strain his ears to actually hear what she said. She came over very slowly, almost like something was pulling her back. She sat on the corner of the bed.
He, now, didn’t know what to do. He had a plan in mind before but, now he thought that it was too harsh. The face that he thought would be very amusing to see was not as pleasing as he thought it would be. That look on her face looked like she was legitimately scared of him.
It made him scared that tomorrow she’ll tell everyone and the marriage that happened yesterday would be in pieces. So he thought of another plan. A plan that wouldn’t make her so afraid of him. Not the best plan ever, he admitted, but it worked.
“Why do you look so scared? I did mention that if you came by on your own I wouldn’t do anything,” Jiyong said. Sooyeon twisted in her position and looked at him.
“Actually….no you didn’t mention that.”
He was sure he did but just shrugged. Well at least now he did.
“I must’ve forgotten. Who cares? Like I was saying,” he was sitting up now and raised his hands into the air, “I won’t do anything.” He paused for a while then thought that it wouldn’t be too harmful if he added a bit more, “Or at least not something major.”
“Nothing major? There are other things?” She had no idea what something not major was. For all she knew he might’ve gone around sleeping with girls and that could be nothing major to him.
“Other things? How should I explain them? Do you want me to show you what they are?” He leaned in closer to where she was sitting.
“No, thank you…I-I think I’ll be fine.” She tried to move further away but there was no more room on the bed. She couldn’t help but realize that there was never enough space and it made her mad.
“Awww, really? I was really hoping I could show you. You have to be curious, right? Why not agree and then you’ll know. This could bother you the rest of your life; not knowing what I meant by nothing major.” He kept on bombarding her with questions. All while inching closer and closer to her.
“I’m fine with not knowing.” She glanced at the clock on the bedside table. It was getting really late and she really loved her sleep. She couldn’t help but curse at everyone who locked her in here. They were the reason for her missing out on sleep.
“But why not?”
She turned her eyes from the clock and back to Jiyong. She was greeted with Jiyong’s face being extremely close to hers. She leaned backwards so that their faces weren’t touching. She thought that she could try her luck and just ask him straightforwardly.
“Is it possible we could go to sleep? I’m missing out on sleep that I really need.” She made it seem like their faces being just inches apart didn’t affect her.
“Huh?” He never thought that she would be able to say anything, considering her other responses. He was surprised. He glanced at the clock and saw the time: it was one am. He didn’t expect it to be so late and thought that it would be best that they did sleep. He didn’t even know why he stayed up that late talking to Sooyeon.
He nodded slowly. “Yeah, sure,” Jiyong muttered. He lied down on his side of the bed and once Sooyeon thought that he wasn’t going to jump on her, she also laid down.
~~~

Seunghyun and Yoona had just left the house and they were enveloped in an awkward atmosphere . There was silence for a good five minutes while they walked to the closest twenty-four-hour convenience store. When they got there, they scanned a few shelves together while Yoona had no clue what to purchase. She turned her head to ask Seunghyun what to buy, only to find that he was no longer there.

She walked down the next few isles when she couldn’t find him she went back to where she was before. As she was walking she nearly bumped into him with his arms full of  snacks.

He raised his eyebrow, "Too much?"

She glanced at the snacks and laughed. She shook her head, “Those are fine.”

They left the store shortly after with two bags of snacks. Yoona was carrying one of the bags until Seunghyun quickly took it off her hands. She blushed and tried to desperately hide it with her hair. He saw her and chuckled slightly. Then finally he had the courage to ask something he’d wanted to for the whole time he was with her.

"Yoona... May I have your number?"

Mar5122: I have finally updated!! I'd like to start off by apologizing for not updating in almost two whole months! It was just i had exams and then a new semester started and i was loaded with all this work. It was just I had no time to really work on this chapter.Also another thing is that I am thinking of changing the title, I find that it doesn't really fit with the story line. So if "The Love Bet" is not there in your subscribtions do not worry (If you actually would worry).Another thing is that there is not poster for this chapter. Not like you probably cared but it's just all my files that I had saved on my usb got deleted and so getting all them back is dificult. I might make posters again or not. It depends.One Last thing (Yes i know this is long) is that I now have a co-author! She is my best friend and she'll be helping me edit and revise the story. She already has been doing that but now she finally joined AFF and officially became my co-author.

mycatWalter: Teehee! Hi! I help out with the story line and character developements and spelling and that's pretty much all ...but from the very beginning  i might add! I really do enjoy editing (and reading this story). I usually proof read at school on her cell phone (yep... its true) and somehow always end up smiling at how the situations play out (am i the only one?). I want to do my best in helping out and wish that you all can enjoy "The Love Bet" as much as we both enjoy writing it!    :3

Chapter 14: I'm sorry for asking, but is this story from somewhere else and you just copy pasted it? First you said the Kwon's sister's name was Elisa. And then it changed to Yuri.

And then you said the best friend's name "started with an 'R' and ended with 'aiden'. But it became spelled as Seunghyun. Isn't it Raiden? It made me confused. And more than slightly curious. This is a really good fic though. But some just don't connect. Especially the names. Sorry for prying.
