Working With Him?

The Love Bet

It had been a week since the party and it seemed Jiyong had become infatuated with Jessica. Every day that passed by, he would find more and more reasons to talk to Jessica; even coming into the company when he wasn’t allowed. Jessica guessed it was because the company was under his family’s name. She still couldn’t grasp that his family was the one that owned the company. The company she had wanted to get a job at ever since she was little.

While thinking of the Kwon’s, Jessica remembered something that happened at the party.

“Who knows about this revenge of ours? Because I remember Jiyong's brother-what was his name again? Oh, yeah-Minho, calling me Sooyeon. He wouldn’t have known that unless someone told him. How many other people know as well?"

"Well I might have told a few,” Tiffany mumbled. “The thing was that I knew some were going to instantly sense something was wrong so I had to tell them. Others just…kind of found out. It ended up being everyone who attended the wedding-"

"So Seunghyun knows about this?" interrupted Yoona.

Tiffany nodded her head, "Yeah, I had some troubles.” She chuckled nervously and continued.

“You see, the thing is, Jonghyun, Jiyong’s younger brother, would've figured it out in a millisecond. He’s seen you before and he has a photographic memory. So I had to tell him but Minho heard what I said and he was all like, ‘wow how could you do that?’” She tried to imitate Minho. Jessica and Yoona tried to hold in their chuckles.

“And then, while we were talking, Yuri walked in, so I had to tell her too. You’re lucky that Jiyong wasn't there! Or I am,” she mumbled the last part. “The plan is not ruined until Jiyong finds out. Who cares if everyone else knows?" It was if she trying to convince herself more than anyone else. She went quiet after that trying to not remember that horrid day. It was a memory she wanted to erase for good.

“How’d they react?” Jessica asked.

“Well,” Tiffany started and looked away. “At first they didn’t know about the revenge but it didn’t make any sense when they just knew you were Sooyeon so I told them,” she paused again. “They don’t support it because, well, due to certain reasons that even I don’t know, they don’t want him to get hurt.”

“That’s understandable, considering they’re his family, right?” Jessica was actually relieved to hear this. She didn’t want to hurt him either and she may have just found a way out.

“Yeah, I guess, but they’re hiding something else. They all had these uncomfortable looks while I was explaining the plan.”

“So are we calling this revenge off?” asked Jessica.

“Calling it off? I wouldn’t say that. More like a change in motive?” Tiffany suddenly grinned. Yoona and Jessica raised their eyebrows.

“What’s the motive now?”

“Do you want a divorce?” Tiffany asked instead of answering the question.

“Wha-”

“Just answer the question,” demanded Tiffany.

Hesitantly, Jessica answered, “No.” She had thought about it almost every day and every time she came to the conclusion that she didn’t want a divorce. She didn’t like Jiyong but she was slightly opening up to him and even then it wasn’t just Jiyong she had to think about. She had lied to her family and told them that she had met with Jiyong and was happy. She couldn’t just announce that she wanted a divorce out of the blue when her parents thought everything was all good; she just couldn’t.

“Exactly, you don’t want a divorce! So why get revenge on him and make him hate you? Why not instead make him fall for you?”

“Huh?”

“We’re going to make him fall for you,” Tiffany chirped.

They walked into class this time and saw an unexpected- more like expected- face.

Jessica was expecting him to act like he always does and flirt with her, but this time was certainly different. It was as if he knew what Jessica was thinking and followed on it. He went to where the two were sitting and told them that the only reason he was there was because the company had called him.

Jessica tried to hide the smile that wanted to make an appearance. She liked that Jiyong knew when to back away. She was getting a little peeved as the days went on and he still didn’t back off the slightest bit. Now that he realized he was being a tad clingy and backed off, she was happy.

She was also happy that she had made it this far into the competition. It was the third week now and over half the people in the competition were already eliminated. Only two more weeks remained and Jessica tried to figure out just what was planned.

"It's not only me, you know? There's a bunch of others here too. She'll tell you why in a sec," said Jiyong, when she asked. He was right; there were a bunch of new faces, one next to every competitor.

"So," Amanda spoke up. "Since we have just started our fourth week and over thirty people have been eliminated, it's time for a bigger project. Now as you can see there are some new faces in the room. The person sitting to your right will be your model." Jessica didn't have to look know who it was. He must have used his 'influential' ways to sit next to her.

"You probably guessed what you have to do by now- design clothing that will look good on that person. Since everybody is different, so you can't just copy what another person is doing. You will be judged based on the quality, the look and how well you are able to create clothing based on the person. You have the remaining two weeks to finish this project."

She also allowed everyone free use of the materials provided and told everyone to get used to their partners. Jessica finally turned her head and saw Jiyong grinning at her. She sighed and slouched on the table. "Why you?" she whined.

"Because I'm amazing," he boasted. He was still grinning and it annoyed Jessica. She couldn't stay mad at him or get annoyed when he shined that smile at her. It made it lose her character. She shook her head.

"When do you want to work on this?" she asked.

"I'm free today. If you wanna come over to my place you can see what type of clothes I have. 'Cause I know all the clothes I wear are amazing --and fit me perfectly."

Jessica contemplated this, he just said to go over to his place and look at his clothes. That meant going into his closet, which meant going in to his room. Jessica had been with him a whole night before but it felt like he wouldn't act the same way with her as he did with Sooyeon. Not that anything he did was all that good either.

And what was that about his clothes fitting him perfectly? Sure, most of the time he dressed in well fitted clothing and looked really good but she would never admit it. So instead, she scoffed.

"What? What? Are you denying that I look absolutely amazing every day?"

She raised her eyebrows at him, "Are you always this conceited?"

"What do you mean conceited? I'm just stating a fact."

She just shook her said. She was done with this conversation and that wasn’t her character talking. Maybe acting like this won’t be so hard, she thought.

"So you're free today?" As much as she didn't want to be going over to his house, what he said wasn't bad. Seeing his clothes really would help her.

That was how they ended up at his house; which was more like a mansion than a house.

"Wow, doesn't it feel a bit too big sometimes?" Her eyes wide just at the sheer size of the house.

"When there's no one else in the house, I guess, but that could also be good if you want to be alone." He opened the front door and led her in.

"That’s true, I guess,” she said and walked in. It was just like she expected: extravagant.

Right as they were walking in a face popped into the foyer. “Jiyong!” she exclaimed with a slightly annoyed look and then seemed to notice the person by his side. “Oh, hey Jessica!”

Jessica smiled, “Hey.”

“You know, I heard that Tiffany was planning a girl’s night out. You should so come if you’re not already!” Jessica had come to understand that Yuri had somewhat of a short attention span, but she had gotten quickly used to it.

Before Jessica could even open , Jiyong butted in, "Yes, she should. But that's not what we're here for today. You met each other, now bye." He dragged her in further into house where Yuri wasn't able to see them anymore. He saw someone again in another room and pulled her out of their view.

"What’re you doing?" Jessica asked, pulling away her arm.

"My whole family is filled social freaks. They will not stop talking if you get them started. If I hadn't pulled you away from both Yuri and my other brother, you would be standing there until night came around.” As he talked they had reached Jiyong’s room and he led her in.

Jessica looked around and for the umpteenth time, she was amazed. “Are you serious? This is your bedroom?” It was the size of her living room and was like a whole separate place itself.

“Uh-huh. Now to show you something even more amazing, follow me.” He led her towards a door and opened it. It was his closet and saying it was big is an understatement. There were way too many pieces of clothing there. Way too many.

“And I’m supposed to look at these? How? There’re so many things!” She went in further and looked around. She marveled at how well organized he kept things.

“I’ll show you the outfits that I personally like to wear.” He looked around and then picked out a few outfits. He then stopped and looked at Jessica as if wanting something.

“What?” She asked.

“Aren’t you going to leave? I’m going to change into different clothes. Oh, you know a better idea, why don’t you stay? I don’t mind really, not at all,” he smirked.

“Um, I think that’s fine, I’ll be waiting out there.” She turned and left while closing the door behind her.

He stepped out of the closet wearing slim fitted jeans and an ed chambray shirt over a white V-neck.

The outfit was simple but Jessica knew that some outfits were best left simple. She nodded looking at him from head to toe. When her eyes trailed back to Jiyong’s face she saw him smirking. Deciding to ignore him, she went back to assessing the outfit.

"Okay, next outfit," she said. He nodded, feeling that not much talking was needed. It was odd for him to not flirt but it just seemed like this wasn't the best time to do that. He would’ve definitely been ignored anyways.

He came out a few minutes later in a well fitted black suit. He wore a white shirt underneath and Jessica couldn't help but admire how good he looked in it.

This went on for quite a while where Jessica would look at his clothing and see what looks good, while Jiyong kept on choosing outfits to wear. Sometimes the outfit would look great and suit him but then other times he purposely wore clothes that looked weird. Jessica couldn't stop laughing at how funny an outfit was and before they knew it was dinner time.

"Aren't you hungry?" asked Jiyong who was exhausted from changing so often.

"Hmm, I guess a bit." She was sitting on his bed by then so she didn’t feel as tired as Jiyong who had to keep changing.

"Alright, let's get something to eat, shall we?" He was starving.

"What are we going to eat?" she asked. She didn't feel like going out to eat but she didn’t know if Jiyong was willing to cook and Jessica didn’t know how to cook so she wasn’t much help.

"What do you want to eat? We could go out or cook something ourselves." He personally hoped she chose going out since he really didn't want to cook. He didn't even know why he offered it, probably just to look good.

"You can cook?" She questioned, her eye’s lighting up.

"Yeah?" he quirked his eyebrows, he really couldn't cook much honestly. He knew only some foods.

"Want to cook then? I really don't feel like going out." She got up from the bed and started towards the door.

"Wait, what? You want me to cook? Cook what? When I said I could cook I didn't mean I could cook!" He ran after her with an out stretched arm, it hurt his pride saying that but he really didn't want to cook.

She turned to face him, "Please? I don’t feel like eating out. I’ve been doing that ever since I got here." She gave him those innocent puppy eyes that Tiffany had taught her.

How could he deny that? She was so cute. "I…Okay." He muttered and started leading her to the kitchen.

"Yay!" she jumped in joy and Jiyong chuckled. He just saw another side to her.

"So what're you going to cook?" They reached the kitchen and Jessica couldn't help but see how empty the house actually was. Jessica hadn’t come across anyone yet.

"How does some dobukkie sound?" he offered as it was one of the few things he actually knew how to cook.

"Alright, that sounds great," she said while her face brightened up.

He set out cook and Jessica helped out wherever she could. She never was good at cooking but she liked helping out. They started conversing about Jessica’s life and when she said that she hadn’t been able to explore the city yet he got curious.

"So you're saying that you haven't gone out and explored yet?" He wondered just when she moved here because he had never seen her before the competition and he knew a lot of people.

"Uh-huh, I haven't had the time and there's no one else to go with. Tiffany's busy doing whatever she's doing and Yoona is busy with work. Other than those two, I don't know many people here,” she replied as she started cutting up the vegetables Jiyong placed in front of her. .

"You know me now,” he said and turned from the stove to face her. “Next week. Us two shopping. Okay?"

"What? Us two?" she pointed her finger back and forth between the two. "And shopping? Nuh-uh,” she shook her head.

"I thought that’s what girls liked to do? And why not us two? What have I done to get you to hate me? You always reject everything I offer," he pouted.

She looked away, that face made it hard for her to reject him. What easy she supposed to say? She didn't hate him; in fact she was starting to grow a soft spot for him. But she couldn't just tell that to him, could she?

"I don't…hate you," she paused thinking of what to say next. "I just don't like the reputation that you have. It annoys meet that I have a known player after me. How am I supposed to know that you're not just doing this to win a bet or something, huh? I can't be involved in something like that." And that fact that you left your wife and are playing with girls was something Jessica wanted to add but refrained from doing so.

Jiyong stiffened. What she said about the bet brought back unwanted memories. The memories he never wanted to remember. He had forgotten them for the longest time possible but she just reminded him. He loosened up, nodded and continued to cook.

Jessica noticed the sudden silence but didn’t know what to think of it.

The rest of the time, Jiyong felt closed off, even though he tried to hide it with smiles. However, he zoned out more and more, making Jessica feel really bad. She didn’t know what to do so she just pretended that she didn’t notice it. The rest of day went by quickly as they both wanted to get it over with. After they ate Jessica excused herself and left. Not that Jiyong refused, he just nodded and mumbled a response.

As Jessica was leaving she didn’t know what was going to happen now. If he kept being like this then where's Tiffany’s plan going to go? He probably didn’t ever want to see her again. That’s all she could think of. Throughout the whole day her mind was stuck on Jiyong. She went to bed dreading what tomorrow would bring.

Chapter 14: I'm sorry for asking, but is this story from somewhere else and you just copy pasted it? First you said the Kwon's sister's name was Elisa. And then it changed to Yuri.

And then you said the best friend's name "started with an 'R' and ended with 'aiden'. But it became spelled as Seunghyun. Isn't it Raiden? It made me confused. And more than slightly curious. This is a really good fic though. But some just don't connect. Especially the names. Sorry for prying.
