Wedding Day

The Love Bet

Chapter 4

Both Jiyong and Sooyeon could hear the music playing in their separate rooms. They were getting ready to walk the aisle and both of them were not prepared for this. Somehow, the whole church was packed with people. They didn’t expect that; they thought that there'd be ten, twenty, maybe thirty, but not that many.

Sooyeon was anxious; she thought she accepted the concept of an arranged marriage. It seemed that she didn't; now that she was standing in her wedding dress that somehow had been prepared for her, she didn't know what to feel. She didn't even know Jiyong and now she was marrying him.  Sooyeon shook her head, she couldn’t think that. She needed to get married, for her family, for her dad. She trusted her dad and knew that he wouldn’t possibly let her marry a bad man. Or at least she hoped he wouldn’t.

Huffing, she got up. Staying in that room was doing her no good, so she opened the door slightly and looked outside. All she saw was an empty hallway and decided that it was safe enough to roam a bit.

Jiyong looked behind him and saw Sooyeon getting out of her room. She looked around but didn't spot who was outside the door of his assigned room. He too felt stuffy in the room and decided to walk about. He couldn't walk around much because people kept making him come back to the room which really annoyed him. She then started walking towards his direction and he quickly went back into his room, not wanting to interact with her. Having nothing better to do he reached for his cellphone from his suit pocket and dialed his friend's number.

"Hey," Jiyong said lazily. He walked towards the couch and sat down. From the altar, or rather right next to it, Seunghyun answered, "oh...Hey?"

"Dude, I'm bored out of my mind," he got up from the couch and started walking back and forth again. "They won't even let me leave this stupid room. I've been here for like an hour now."

"Well, it is your wedding. They wouldn't want you to be roaming and then get lost. By the way, shouldn't you be up in the altar by now?" Seunghyun had to raise his voice a bit so that Jiyong could hear him. In the background, the music from the wedding was playing and Seunghyun hoped that Jiyong wouldn't recognize it, since him being here was supposed to be a surprise.

"There's still time before that. Where are you? It's so loud, I can barely hear you."

"Oh...um-just at some party, you know." He hoped Jiyong would fall for that. Seunghyun wasn't the best liar in the world but he hoped that Jiyong was too preoccupied to notice it.

"Cool. Well I gotta go, I guess. Right now, I have a marriage to go to."

"It's your own wedding," Seunghyun deadpanned.

"Yeah and I'm going to it." Jiyong shut off his cellphone and sat on the couch in his dressing room. He ran his hand down his face and sighed. He couldn’t believe he was going through with all this. Sighing once again he got up and walked out the room.

Sooyeon, on the other hand, had succeeded escaping the eyes of ten different wedding attendees. While doing that, she forgot to keep track of where she was going and now she had no clue as to where she was at the moment. She walked around a bit and found the washrooms. Since she had gone to the washroom earlier she knew the way back from there. There was some noise coming from the washroom and she hid behind a wall near there. There were three girls about the same age as Sooyeon who were wearing matching dresses.

Calling out their names, she ran as fast as she could in her wedding dress towards them. "What are you guys doing here?”

“What do you think?” One of her friends, Taeyeon, said.

“We’re bridesmaids!” they all squealed at the same time.

“I can’t believe this! Did my parents do all this?” She was full grinning now. She couldn't believe her parents would go to such troubles to make all this all a surprise.

“Yup,” replied Sunny who was another one of her friends.

“But aren't you walking down the aisle in about five minutes? Why are you here?” the third friend, Yoona, asked.

“I kind of got lost," Sooyeon replied while smiling sheepishly.

“Hey, I think I hear someone calling you," said Taeyeon, as a figure appeared in the hallway.

“Sooyeon Jung, what are you doing out of your room? I’ve been looking everywhere for you! It’s time for you to walk down the aisle,” said her mother, exasperated. She had gone to the dressing room to fetch Sooyeon only to find that she was not there. She had been searching for her for over five minutes now.

“Sorry mom."  She bowed her head and followed her mom. She looked over her shoulders to her friends and saw that they were also rushing back into the hall.

Jiyong entered the hall to notice immediately that his friend was not at a party but standing as a best man at the altar along with some other familiar faces. He walked up to the front and was about to speak but it was then that the organ began to play. Then soon after, Sooyeon came into view and he straightened up giving off a cold feel and a placid look.

Sooyeon walked in and instantly became very self-conscious. She never liked going up in front of big groups and being in front of this many people did not help. She couldn’t help but keep on thinking that she is going to trip on her dress and make a fool of herself. Luckily her father was right next to her. Though he was on a wheelchair, he was adamant on ‘walking’ down the aisle with his daughter. Sooyeon wasn't able to hook her arms in his but felt that him being there was a good enough support. Before long she had reached the top of the altar.

The minister started his speech and both Jiyong and Sooyeon zoned out: thinking.

She could not believe it. She was marrying him. She was marrying a guy she met two days ago. Silently shaking her head, she refocused her attention to the minister just as he asked for them to put on the rings. A person brought them and Jiyong put on the ring on her finger as she did the same afterwards.

Jiyong zoned out then, he could not wait to get this wedding over with. He didn't know how much longer this would go on for since yesterday, at the rehearsal, he wasn't paying attention; he was now regretting it. Breaking out of his thoughts he heard the minister ask the oh-so-important question.

“Do you, Jiyong, take Sooyeon as your lawfully wedded wife?"

 He didn't really have a choice in the matter; he needed the estate, so he would have to get married. "Yes."

“Do you, Sooyeon, take Jiyong as your lawfully wedded husband?"

She couldn't back out now, she just couldn't. "Yes."

“I, now, pronounce you man and women. You may kiss the bride.”

Jiyong had totally forgotten about this part. He had no problem with kissing, not at all. The look on Sooyeon’s face, though, was making him want to laugh. She looked really scared so he thought he would go easy on the girl.

Sooyeon did not forget. No, she couldn't forget the fact that she would have her first kiss in front over a hundred people. She did not want that. Jiyong looked right in her eyes and leaned forward. Sooyeon instinctively closed her eyes and the moment seemed to go as fast as it came. Jiyong gave her a quick peck on the lips and moved back. Their eyes met again but they both looked away and looked at the crowd who was now clapping.

~~~
They all entered the reception and both Jiyong and Sooyeon separated to meet up with their friends. Jiyong went up to Seunghyun, whacked him on the head and glared at the rest. "How could you not tell me you guys were coming?"
"Oww...Man. It was supposed to be a surprise! Why would I tell you and spoil it?” Seunghyun said, rubbing the part of his head that Jiyong hit.
"We couldn't just let our dear brother get married without us being present, right?" asked Minho.
"You could've mentioned you were coming though."
"It was a surprise, Jiyong. A surprise," said Jonghyun. "You do know what those are, right?"
Jiyong glared at his younger brother but decided to let it go. "So, did anything happen while I was gone?"
"It's only been two days since you were gone," Elisa said.
"Oh yeah, Tiffany called. She asked where you were; apparently you weren't picking up her calls. She said that you were supposed to go shopping with her," Jonghyun said after a few seconds of thinking.
"Oh, I forgot about that." A few days earlier he made plans with his friend, Tiffany, to go shopping for something she needed. "I didn't want her knowing that I was getting married so I decided not to pick up any calls." He knew Tiffany ever since he was a kid. They were close when they were kids but as they got older they had drifted apart. Tiffany was now trying to make up for all the missed years of being friends. He also knew that if she found out he was getting married she would make it her duty to see to everything. She would interrogate him and make him act like a proper gentleman.
"Now I wished I told her," Jonghyun laughed. Jiyong went up to him and put him in a headlock.
"You better watch it," he said, playfully nugieing him.
Jonghyun brushed him off. "You messed up my hair!" he exclaimed while trying to fix his hair.
"Hey," said Minho, leaning in closer to talk them, "I think I see the bride and her bridesmaids looking at us." They all looked directly in their direction, "you idiots! Don't just look directly at them."
"Why not? They're cute," said Jonghyun.
"And they’re too old for you," Jiyong narrowed his eyes at his younger brother.
"I was just kidding," he backed off slightly.
"Yeah and I better not see you flirting," Jiyong said in a warning tone.
"You won't have to, okay? There's no reason to get so worked up!" Jonghyun replied, throwing his hands up in the air while the three by-standers just laughed at the two sibling’s behavior.
Over on the other side of the hall, Sooyeon had found her bridesmaids and was talking to them. Eventually the topic drifted to the groom and his best man's.
"You got to admit they are cute. The tall one especially," said Yoona, who was peeking over at his direction every few seconds.
"Yoona, please stop looking there. They'll notice you looking at them!” That just made the other two look in the direction as well. “Oh, so now you guys too! Please stop," Sooyeon whisper screamed.
"Sooyeon, you have to relax a bit!" Sunny urged, while handing a drink to her.
"I know," whined Sooyeon, "but why don't you try to marry someone you just met two days ago."
"I feel bad for you Sooyeon but is he really that bad?" asked Taeyeon, she didn’t know how she would feel if her dad put that on her so abruptly; surely not as calmly as Sooyeon.
"Well, he's not that bad I guess. It's not like I know him very much.” Okay, so she was partially lying. She didn’t think he was not bad, it was rather the opposite. Even though she didn’t know him much, she could tell that he didn’t like her. Or, maybe she was just imagining it and he wasn’t as detached as she thought, but she doubted that.
"Then it'll get better as time goes on," said Yoona. "Hopefully," she murmured softly under her breath.
Hopefully, Sooyeon thought, hopefully it will.
"Can we please talk about something…" she didn't finish her sentence or rather she was unable to formulate words as she saw the topic of their discussion heading their way.
"Hello ladies, you all are looking wonderful." Jonghyun walked up to them and was about to kiss their hands when Jiyong stopped him. Jonghyun laughed at his brother; he just loved to get Jiyong worked up. After Jiyong made sure Jonghyun wouldn’t say anything again, he started to talk.
 “We were actually here to tell you guys that your pare-” Jiyong got cut off by Jonghyun who couldn’t help but in.
“Shouldn’t we at least introduce ourselves before we tell them?” Jonghyun was holding back a laugh at how agitated Jiyong was getting. After taking a deep breath, Jiyong nodded.
After everyone had introduced themselves Jiyong went on with what he was saying,
“Sooyeon, your parents were telling me that it’s time to throw the bouquet.”  They were supposed to do it earlier but their parents wanted to make sure everything was perfect.
“Why didn’t they tell me themselves?” She was asking more to herself then to Jiyong but he answered anyways.
“I don’t know why, all I know is that they told me five minutes ago.”
Sooyeon’s eyes widened; her parents were very strict on punctuation. Out of the corner of her eyes she could see Krystal coming closer.
“Mom and Dad are calling you guys. They said that they told Jiyong, like, five minutes ago.” She looked at Jiyong and gave him an are-you-kidding-me kind of look.
They all headed out to the garden and all the guests gathered around. Her mom handed her the bouquet. Sooyeon threw the bouquet and it landed in Yoona’s hand.
“What?” Yoona was the only one out of her friends who now had yet to date. That’s why she did not expect for her to catch the bouquet. Everyone was cheering for her while she stood there dumbfounded. She shook her head telling herself that it meant nothing.
“It’s a sign, Yoona,” Sunny said. “It just means that he’s nearby.”
Chapter 14: I'm sorry for asking, but is this story from somewhere else and you just copy pasted it? First you said the Kwon's sister's name was Elisa. And then it changed to Yuri.
And then you said the best friend's name "started with an 'R' and ended with 'aiden'. But it became spelled as Seunghyun. Isn't it Raiden? It made me confused. And more than slightly curious. This is a really good fic though. But some just don't connect. Especially the names. Sorry for prying.
