Chapter V.

OPEN ARMS

“Happy birthday.” Kyungsoo’s monotone greeting was the first thing Jongin heard the next morning. Jongin falls off his bed with a crisp thud and he wonders as he opens his eyes, darkness claiming all of his vision as always if it really was morning already.

He feels a light kick on his knee. “Hyung.” He whines eventually as he lazily stands up, looking for his cane beside the bed. “What are you doing in my room? And is it really morning already?” Jongin asks with a dumb expression which Kyungsoo waves off nonchalantly.

“Unfortunately yes.” The redhead responds. “But be optimistic and look on the brighter side, I’m actually here to wake you up because it’s your birthday.”

At this, the blind man groans.

“Hyung, what time is it?” Jongin questions the older male.

“8 in the morning.”

He huffs louder. “You’re too excited! There’s still an afternoon. Hyung, please let me sleep again.”

“Oh, oh no. You come out with me and eat your breakfast. We have a lot of things to do today.”

“A lot of things?”

“Exactly, a lot of things. So get moving and take a bath, I’ll be waiting for you in the kitchen.”

“Uuurrrghhh hyung.”

“No ifs and..”

“No buts, yeah, yeah I know hyung. Ok fine, I’m going to take a shower I’ll be there in twenty minutes.”

“Fifteen minutes.”

And Kyungsoo doesn’t let Jongin answer back. He closes the door to the latter’s room, leaving him speechless with an awestruck expression on his face.

“Fifteen minutes. Amazing just amazing.” Jongin says sarcastically.

“I’m done.” Jongin states as he comes out of his room, hair still dripping wet from just finishing his bath. His shirt sticks a little on his skin as he’s still practically quite drenched and he has a slight pout plastered on his lips as he takes the seat opposite Kyungsoo.

“So, pancakes and coffeee for breakfast hyung?”

“No. I cooked bacon, egg, fried rice and sausages. There’s coffee too so feed yourself as much as you can.”

“Huh? But what time did you wake up hyung? And just..what..why, these foods are extravagant.”

“That’s none of your business. Just eat and stuff yourself, we have a lot of things to do today. It’s your birthday.”

“But..”

Before furthermore questions could be ask, Kyungsoo instantly shove a piece of bacon inside Jongin’s mouth making the man choke on his words. With a goofy grin on his face, the redhead started eating, once again leaving the younger male to complain on how mean he was.

“And to think I actually expected you to treat me better today since it’s my birthday. But you’re still so mean hyung.”

“Excuse me but I cooked all of these for you.”

“I didn’t ask you to.”

“As you said earlier it’s your birthday and the only way I wouldn’t be mean to you is when I cook for you so that’s why.”
