„Party huh?”

„You speak like I would go to some execution.”

Mr. Kang finished his breakfast and sent a look to his daughter.

„You’re funny this morning.”

„I slept well.”

It was a light fib. Shinkyung barely could close her eyes last night she was full stressed about how things gonna go at night. The more I think about it, the more I worry. The last party she attended was the year end party last year at the school but then teachers were present too so it was a full official event. Now only students will be around partying hard… And on the top of it I have to talk with Miyeon about love which is a topic at I’m a completely illiterate.

„What kind of party will this be?” Her father asked.

„It’s a party organized by the school radio.” She answered and drank a bit from her glass of milk.

„Are you going with Seowon-a?”

 
„I invited her and Eunhyuk oppa but they have a busy weekend so they cancelled it. Fortunately Miyeon agreed to come so I won’t go alone... Appa, why are you keep asking like an inspector?”

It wasn’t his style. Her appa’s always been a free soul and didn’t bother himself because of school parties. He’s been always trusting me completely.

„You don’t like going out.” He explained. „Something has to be this time that you’re willing to attend a party.”

You’re right, appa, just like always. But the reason why she was so determined to go wasn’t a topic which he should have known so Shinkyung just smiled.

„True to be told I didn’t want to go but Leadernim insist to have me there. He said it’s gonna be my party too.”

Mr. Kang stepped to her daughter and hugged her affectionately.

„You did it. Host at the school radio… When I was a high schooler I couldn’t even dream about a great position like this. I’m so proud of you.”

Shinkyung hugged back his father. He was one of the people without who it would be hard to survive. One of the people who she can always count on no matter what happens.

„I love you, appa.” She whispered.

He just smiled her hair.

„We love you too, kid.”

It hurt when he used plural, it was something that always hurt her wound. But she just smiled gently, didn’t want to hurt her father with it.

„So I’m allowed to go?”

„You’re waiting for my permisson? You’re gonna be 18 soon, kid. You’re old enough to be responsible for your acts.”

„But I’m still a minor.”

Mr. Kang chuckled.

„You want rules? Okay… You can go if you promise you’ll behave well and won’t come home until 11 p. m.”

„It’ll be hard but I promise.” Shinkyung grinned and grabbed the dishes. „I do the wash up, okay?”

„I got it.” He went to the sink and opened the faucet. „You just go and prepare for the party!”

„Appa, it’s only 9 in the morning.”

„Not too early to start anything.”

Shinkyung shook her head and went to her room. The whole afternoon was ahead but she still had other things to do like learning to biology test or teaching some private pupils. It might be an important party but how do I look, what I am wearing… These are not important things at all. All what matters is me being mentally ready for it.

So she sat behind her table and started to prepare for the lessons. She thought that distracting herself with work is the best solution.

The night came earlier than she expected it. After the last pupil had left, Miyeon immediately showed up.

„Hi Shinkyung-a! Are you ready to party?”

„Wow Miyeonnie, you look amazing!”

She was wearing a nice peach-colored dress with black high heels! The last thing was the most surprising, Shinkyung has never seen her as tall like now.

„Thank you.” She blushed like a shy little girl. „I might came a little early but I wasn’t able to stay at home any longer.”

„It’s okay. You’re excited, aren’t you?”

„Yes. I’m actually happy you made me go… Finally we can spend some girl time together.”

Shinkyung smiled at her kindly.

„Yes, finally.”

I’m sorry, Miyeon-a. If I was a great friend I’d spend more time with you and Seowon but I can’t or more like I’m not allowed to. I’m doing this all for you though.

The girls went upstairs to Shinkyung’s room. When they stepped in, Miyeon curiously glanced around.

„Where is your dress? Seowon-a asked me to take a picture she still can’t believe that you’re willing to go to a party.”

Shinkyung rolled her eyes with a grin. Typical Bae Seowon.

„It’s in the wardrobe. Make yourself comfortable, I’ll got it in a moment.”

She wasn’t really thinking about what to wear and honestly she was okay with almost any kind of dress. It just has to be not too garish or short and I’m fine with it. She was about pick one when she noticed Miyeon’s face in the glass of the door. What the -

„You’ve never told that you have a whole wardrobe only for yourself.”

Shinkyung turned around with a horrified face.

„Miyeonnie, I almost got a heart attack.”

„Sorry!” She smiled sheepishly. „But I’m not able to stay seated hearing the word wardrobe.”

„I don’t really use it that’s why I haven’t said a word about it.” Shinkyung responsed as she found a fitting dress. „What do you think, is this okay? I’m not good with clothes.”

„Well, I’ve just realized it.”

„Miyeonnie!”

She stepped closer to the hangers with a giggle. She seemed to be quite impressed.

„Because of the uniform I seldom see you in casual clothes but still I bet they’re fitting you completely. Why don’t you wear them? If I were you, I would use this place as much as I could.”

It was an uncomfortable topic just like the plural which his father has been often used so Shinkyung coughed and closed the door instantly.
