Irises Collage

Okay, so basically I'm trying to marry plot lines in Iris 2 and my plot. And it is proven to be killing me OTL It's so difficult and I'm dying here because I don't watch Iris 2 in detail and it's just so difficult to grasp the whole story of it. So you will find inconsistencies of happenings in Iris 2 in this story because I'm molding it according to my story, but I'm trying hard to follow Iris 2 as closely as I can. Supposed to be updated last week, but my internet was not cooperating and the weekdays were crazy and I can only update today OTL

Hyunwoo adjusted his black tie. It was not crooked, it was not suffocating him, it was perfect; but he needed something to do and he was not going to fiddle with a pencil like an elementary student.

The chosen agents were summoned into the meeting room in the Headquarters on a short notice and Hyunwoo was experienced enough to know that something was going on – most of the time something bad. Yoogun was sitting down on the edge of the long table, crossing his hands in front of his sturdy chest.

“So… I hope you guys know what it means to be here in this room.” Yoogun said and stared at each of the agents seated at the other side of the room. None of them moved, because they knew what this was all about. Yoogun continued, “There will be a North-South Korea summit in Hungary and we will all be there to secure it and make sure that everything goes as planned with no hiccups. Details on flight and timing will be provided personally, like usual. Be on your best condition for this event. It is a very important talk for the futures of both countries and we are not going to fail anyone on this. Got that, guys?”

All of the agents nodded their heads in full understanding. This sounded just like another mission for them, but Hyunwoo knew something else was going on here, and he stared at Yoogun. There must be more than just securing the event, something much bigger.

Yoogun felt Hyunwoo’s stare and looked at him. The younger agent frowned at his Team Leader, silently questioning and Yoogun raised his eyebrows stealthily – Hyunwoo was sure something else was there for them to know. Yoogun cleared his throat and looked back at the rest of the agents, “If we understand each other, all of you may go. Hyunwoo and Sooyeon will stay back.”

The agents filtered out of the room one by one quietly, leaving Sooyeon and Hyunwoo inside the room with Yoogun staring down at them. When the door clicked shut, Yoogun sighed and stood up from his position, taking a seat next to Sooyeon.

“You guys know there is something more, don’t you?” Yoogun said, observing both Hyunwoo and Sooyeon. His voice instantly changed from authoritative to the friendly guy Hyunwoo was used to hanging out with. Both of them nodded silently.

Yoogun cleared his throat, “I received information that there will be something more going on during the summit and I need to discuss this with you guys.” Hyunwoo and Sooyeon stared at the Team Leader in full concentration. Yoogun continued, “There will be disruptions during the talk – a planned assassination to be exact. We are still not sure who or which side will be the target, but we need to prevent all of these things from happening because even the smallest slip up can change the whole course of the talk.” He stared at Sooyeon, then at Hyunwoo. “And we don’t want any of that happening.”

“Yes, Team Leader Jung.” Hyunwoo answered his understanding.

“Yes.” Sooyeon confirmed.

“And we need to extract information from North Korea about this. There are rumors IRIS will be involved. We need to step our games up. Do we understand each other?” Yoogun looked alternately at Hyunwoo and Sooyeon.

“Yes, Team Leader Jung.” Both of the agents nodded their heads.

Yoogun stood up, “Good, you are dismissed. Prepare for your mission.”

Wat took u so long 2 rply? HAH! U SWORE. 2mr is my comeback. MUST.WATCH.ME  >:(

10.30 pm

From: Old Ahjussi

To: Stubborn Kid

Your comeback from where, are you overseas now? I’m confused. I don’t get any of the signs you are using in your message, is that a frowning face or something? I don’t have time for this.

Hyunwoo pressed the send button on his phone screen and sighed loudly. He knew that the little kid would not take a no for an answer because he was used to getting whatever he wanted. Based on the story Yoseob had told him, he was practically a young master in his home, a highly privileged young man in his social strata, and when he wanted to break free from the family chain, he had become one of the most popular entertainers whom anyone would abide. In short, Yang Yoseob was a brat with too much power for anyone to defy him and too much cuteness for anyone to deny him. Yang Yoseob got whatever he wanted. Period.

Spoiled brats.

Hyunwoo’s phone rang loudly, a cutely annoyed face with pouty lips filled the screen with “stubborn kid” flashing on the phone. The older man rolled his eyes, he did not even know when Yoseob took a selca with his phone and changed the caller display. Hyunwoo decided that Yoseob was dangerous and the younger man might kill him stealthily in his sleep without anyone knowing and he would not go to jail because the judge might feel he was too cute to kill another person. Typical.

Hyunwoo slid over his phone screen with his thumb and pressed the phone to his ear. There was a loud whine from the other side.

“Ahjusssiiii!!! You have to come!! And where have you been? You have not contacted me in almost a month. What happened?”

Hyunwoo pulled the phone away a little from his ear because Yoseob’s shrill voice was hurting his hearing. His face crumpled in devastation and regret, vividly remembering the accident where he shot Sooyeon on the shoulder almost a month ago and his trips back and forth the hospital. Sooyeon was not fussing over it, laughing and waving it away with an easy, “I’ll just move away quickly next time!” when Hyunwoo apologized to her. She cupped his face and looked at him straight in the eyes, “Really, I’m okay. So stop worrying about me.” There was an easy smile on her face but this was a burden Hyunwoo had to carry for the rest of his life and nothing could make him walk away from Sooyeon now; he would forever be responsible of her.

The older man closed his eyes and tried to sound as calm as possible, not willing to share even the slightest information to Yoseob. “I have things to do. I don’t have the privilege of not doing something because I don’t want to, unlike a certain person that I know – which is you.”

Hyunwoo could hear the pout from the other line, “You are such a grumpy old man. No one likes grumpy old men, Ahjussi!”

“Fine,” The agent said, “then stop bothering me.”

“Except for me!” Yoseob quickly added like an excited student knowing his answer, “I love grumpy old Ahjussis!”

Hyunwoo actually stopped in his attempt to answer back – because this Yang Yoseob boy was just too weird. Too ing weird and he would one day be the death of Hyunwoo, the agent was sure of it. He finally found his voice, “Well, good for you, I guess.”

Yoseob laughed hysterically on the other line, confusing Hyunwoo who did not get what the younger man was laughing about. “What are you laughing about? I don’t get the joke.” Hyunwoo frowned, he hated feeling confused.

Yoseob was gulping the much needed air to his lungs, “You are the joke!”

“What? Why am I the joke?”

“You are part of the joke!”Yoseob insisted, still laughing at the silly old Ahjussi he was talking to.

“I don’t get it and I don’t get you.” Hyunwoo decided.

Yoseob scoffed, probably rolling his eyes at the other side, “Don’t go all alpha male on me.”

Again, Hyunwoo was confused, “What alpha male – what the fu –“

Yoseob suddenly quipped, cutting Hyunwoo’s swearing mid-sentence, “Ahjussi, I want something from Hungary! Buy me things from Hungary!”

“Yah, I’m there for work. I don’t have time to buy you things.”

“You always don’t have time for anything. You say that all the time, together with ‘this is ridiculous’. And why would police go to Hungary anyway? That’s like splurging!” There was a loud clatter on the other line and a yelp from Yoseob.

Hyunwoo frowned, suddenly worried for the younger man’s safety, “Kid, where are you? What’s going on there? Are you hurt?”

Yoseob laughed again, bright and crisp, “No, I’m fine. I’m practicing with the guys and Dongwoon fell flat on his but he’s okay. He’s just too careless for his own good.”Yoseob continued laughing and Hyunwoo shook his head in disbelief. Not over how dismissive Yoseob was over his life but over how worried he was over the younger man’s well-being.

He was going insane.

“Anyway, I need to go.” Hyunwoo said to the phone.

“Are you gonna buy me anything from Hungary?” Yoseob asked, voice unbelievably hopeful.

“I only buy jewelry for someone I really care about.” Hyunwoo said sullenly.

Yoseob laughed again, his silly Ahjussi was just too amusing to talk to. “I’m not asking you to buy me jewelry, Ahjussi! You can buy me keychain or a mug or something. You are so silly!”

“I’m not silly. I’m not five.”

“You are so grumpy!”

“I have to go. And you have to sleep. It’s late.”

Yoseob was absolutely hysterical because the call was ending and Hyunwoo had not agreed to come to his performance recording tomorrow. “AHJUSSIIII!! AHJUSSSII YOU HAVE TO WATCH ME. YOU HAVE TO COME. AHJUSSI ARE YOU STILL THERE? AHJUSSIII!!!”

“Stop screaming, I’m still here! I told you I could not go because my flight was tomorrow too. And where are you coming back from? Are you overseas now?” Hyunwoo asked, clueless.

Yoseob was literally rolling on the floor, laughing his off. This old Ahjussi was totally clueless about the entertainment industry. He amusedly explained, “I am releasing my new album, and that is called a comeback after my vacuum period since my last album.”

Hyunwoo nodded, although Yoseob could not see it from the other side of the line, “I see… still cannot go. So all the best for your comeback tomorrow.”

“I hate you.”

“Great.”

“I hate you.”Yoseob repeated, “And I will see you tomorrow, no matter what. You know the location, the timing, and who to meet there. I have texted you everything. My manager, Jintaek Hyung will be there when you arrive. Bbyong.”

Yoseob hung up on Hyunwoo as the older man stared at his phone incredulously. A kid had just hung up on him. He shook his head and mumbled to himself, “He hung up on me. ‘Bbyong?’ What’s that? Aish, kids these days…” He placed his phone on the bedside table as he stared at the packed luggage in front of him. Things were already set for Hungary.

He stretched out his body, hearing some cracks from moving his shoulders and back. He sighed, there was no way he could hang out with the kid. Absolutely no way.

<>/<>\<>/<>\<>/<>\<>/<>\<>/<>\<>/<>\<>/<>\<>

“Hyunwoo-sshi!”

Jintaek waved excitedly from the back entrance of the recording building as Hyunwoo stepped out of his car in the parking lot. He was dressed for work – his usual white shirt with black suit and grey tie, and black long coat – his luggage was safely stored inside his car trunk, ready to go to Hungary. Yet he found himself driving to the recording building where Yoseob was to perform.

This was ridiculous.

“Hyunwoo-sshi! You came!” Jintaek jogged towards Hyunwoo, both of them bowing politely to each other. “Hyunwoo-sshi, this is extremely great.” Jintaek beamed at him, obviously pleased with Hyunwoo’s appearance. “Let’s go inside, Seobie’s recording will start in a few minutes.”

The back area was surprisingly empty compared to the entrance of the building where a lot of fans have gathered with their signages and posters of their idol, patiently waiting for a glimpse of Yang Yoseob. It was a cold morning but nothing could hold the fans away from their idol. The backdoor to the building was small and hidden, equipped with a card-activated lock next to it. Jintaek tapped the card that was hanging inside a landyard around his neck to the lock and the small light immediately turned from red to green. An unlocking sound was heard as Jintaek pushed the door open, revealing an empty hallway with a row of rooms at the side.

“Aren’t there some recordings in this building?”Hyunwoo asked, turning his head left and right, only to find the rooms all empty.

Jintaek nodded.

“Then why is the building empty?” Hyunwoo was utterly confused.

Jintaek smiled and looked at Hyunwoo kindly, “It’s just a recording session, not a live music show. The building should be bursting with people when it’s a live show. And also due to the fact that Yoseob changed the timing to be super early so that you can come watch him.”

Hyunwoo raised his eyebrows but said nothing. Yoseob changed his recording time to cater to the older man’s flight schedule. Hyunwoo did not know how to feel about that but he smiled to himself anyway. Jintaek led him to another door which opened to a large empty hall with typical stadium seating and a huge dark stage at the foot front of the hall – which Hyunwoo suspected where Yoseob would perform soon.

He looked at his forever-accurate watch and reminded himself he should be on his way in another fifteen minutes. Before he started thinking that what he was doing was an absolute mistake and fled immediately, the stage lights and five figures were ready on stage. Four of them were veiled and Hyunwoo was unable to identify any of them – two of them should be Dongwoon and Kikwang – but he could see the figure in the middle clearly. Dressed in sleek pearl-encrusted suit with sleek, swept hair, was Yang Yoseob, performing in the middle of the stage. For Hyunwoo. Because there was no one else in the performing hall.

It’s late, I need to sleep and I already counted all the sheep in my head
In order to fall asleep somehow, I showered again
I keep drawing your face out on the ceiling and when I close my eyes,
A book with the story of our ended love opens

The dancers started doing their routine and Yoseob started singing after the rap part was over. This was the first time Hyunwoo had ever seen Yoseob on stage, with bright lights and pained expressions in his face. The older man was lost in the vortex that was Yoseob, into a bottomless pit of sweet voice and boundless charisma. Gone was the kid who kept whining and pestering Hyunwoo, instead in front of him was an idol, with unparalleled charms and hypnotizing voice.

Cause you’re like caffeine, I can’t fall asleep all night
My heart keeps racing and again, I hate you
Like caffeine, I try to stay away
I try to forget about you but I can’t do it, I can’t help it

Yoseob focused his eye contact to all the cameras around the stage, giving his fans the best performance. But time to time, he looked straight at Hyunwoo, maintaining eye contact for a few seconds before focusing his attention to one of the cameras again.

You’re bad to me, so bad to me, oh girl you’re like caffeine
You’re bad to me, so bad to me, oh girl you’re like caffeine
You’re bad to me, so bad to me, oh girl you’re like caffeine
You’re bad to me, so bad to me, so bad to me, yeah

So this was how fans felt when they watched Yoseob on stage, Hyunwoo mused to himself. There was an undeniable attraction to the younger man. Something extremely strong, pulling him in and locking him inside. There was no way Hyunwoo could look away. Subconsciously, he took out his phone and snapped a picture of Yoseob on stage. He did not know why he did that, but he just did. And maybe it was time for him to just do and stop thinking about what and why.

The moment the stage was over and the cameras stopped rolling, Yoseob smiled, wide and bright, while eyeing the seats, searching for Hyunwoo. It was tremendously difficult to portray the right pained expression during his performance because all he wanted to do was smile. He wanted to smile and be happy because Ahjussi came and watched his performance. He knew Ahjussi would be there for him, despite of all the complaints and harsh comments.

And he knew that at one point, Hyunwoo took a picture of him. That was the best part of his performance.

<>/<>\<>/<>\<>/<>\<>/<>\<>/<>\<>/<>\<>/<>\<>

The first thing the team did when they reached Hungary was to secure the location. The whole building had been checked, monitors and CCTV’s had been inspected and it was confirmed that there was no dead spot on them. Information had been shared on the plane and the instructions were clear – to secure the event and acquire information from the North Korea without any of their information being leaked. Hyunwoo had bugged their rooms discreetly and the set up was already done.

Hyunwoo was a little surprised when he was asked to refresh himself for an hour. Team Leader Jung had specifically told him to go and shop for some stuff in the market nearby. He had commented that Hyunwoo looked solely depressed and no one wanted that – although Hyunwoo knew that the older man knew he was still feeling guilty over shooting Sooyeon.

And so here he was, walking aimlessly to the market, deciding to go wherever his feet took him to. Hungary was an exciting city, a flawless combination of modern and ancient, of elaborately carved museums and sleek skyscrapers. The streets were lined with small little independent shops and internationally-known brand names, sitting side by side with small cafes and quaint restaurants. It was the perfect destination for romantic getaways, and suddenly Hyunwoo remembered a certain whiny young man and his persistent demand of a souvenir.

Without even thinking, Hyunwoo turned right and entered a sport shop, immediately pointing to a pair of black and yellow boxing shoes on the display window. He told the shopkeeper Yoseob’s size – the young man told Hyunwoo his shoe size once because he was mocking the older man for his own shoe size, which according to Yoseob was gigantic – while he waited near the entrance for the new pair of shoes.

That was when he saw a suspicious Caucasian passing by. He was dressed in all black, black shirt with black suit and black long coat. He looked familiar to Doojoon, but the black sunglasses obscured the face view a little. Quickly, he exited the shop and trailed the man discreetly, going into the market which Yoogun told him to visit.

It was difficult to stay low profile in the market when he was obviously the only Asian person there. Hyunwoo was also unfamiliar with the market ground, which caused him to bump into a man with a crate full of oranges. Apologizing curtly, he ran to catch up with the Caucasian man, only to find himself out of the market with no sign of the said man.

He bent down, trying to catch his breath, looking left and right for any sign of the man, but found nothing.

And then he remembered Yoseob’s shoes.

When it was confirmed that he had lost track of the Caucasian man, he went back to the sport store and apologized for running out. He quickly paid for the shoes and went back to the venue to check on some pictures.

He had seen that man before. And Hyunwoo was sure his name was trouble.

<>/<>\<>/<>\<>/<>\<>/<>\<>/<>\<>/<>\<>/<>\<>

Yoseob found a box on the dining table in his penthouse when he got home from a very tiring day. It was non-stop schedules and he was just beat to the bones. He carefully approached the box, phone ready in his hand, scared that it could be a bomb or something more frightening.

On top of it was a handwritten yellow sticky note from Jintaek.

“Seobie-yah, Hyunwoo-sshi asked me to give this to you. Don’t worry, this is not a bomb. Open it and thank him properly.”

The smile on Yoseob’s face could not be wider. Ahjussi had come back and bought him something from Hungary. He took the box excitedly and bounced to the nearest sofa. Yoseob was so happy it was ridiculous. He shook the box and listened to the sound. After a few seconds, he gave up, too excited to even guess. He ripped off the wrapper and opened the box. His eyes widened as he stared at the magnificent items in front of him. He could not believe Hyunwoo remembered what he said offhandedly in one of their nonsensical conversations.

He was so excited he had to share this happiness before he combusted into tiny little happy bubbles. So he instagramed instead.

, Yoseob realized. He might just fall hard for Ahjussi, because at some moments he could not even remember Hayoon Noona’s name.
