The sleek and sophisticated apartment was quiet, silence dominating every corner of the space, punctuated only by the intense – almost choking – sobs coming from a tiny young man who was fully enveloped in a loving embrace by a bigger and sturdy body.

Hyunwoo rearranged his body to better accommodate the weak and thin man in his arms. He had no idea how much time had passed and he was starting to be extremely worried because Yoseob looked and sounded absolutely wrecked and he was the cause of it all. , he had just professed his love to Yoseob but the waterworks did not stop, in fact when he whispered that he loved Yoseob again, the younger man sobbed harder than before, so Hyunwoo just kept his mouth shut, afraid he would further upset an already upset Yoseob.

So, instead of trying to soothe Yoseob with words, Hyunwoo pressed a gentle kiss on the younger man’s hair and held him tight, offering comfort through his embrace. Yoseob had stopped hitting him, the younger man had stopped saying he hated him, and the sobs were slowly dissipating, much to Hyunwoo’s relief and delight because the older man was terrified of Yoseob dying of fatigue and dehydration. He had to get Yoseob to drink something soon, but he was just too scared to open his mouth now.

Hyunwoo would love to turn his head around and look at the wall clock across the room, but he was not going to disturb Yoseob, especially when the younger man was now sort of – kind of – comfortable in his arms. Yoseob’s head was tucked safely under Hyunwoo’s chin with his cheek rested against Hyunwoo’s sturdy chest, both of his arms where folded inside the loving hug because Hyunwoo did not want Yoseob to continue hitting him, he was afraid Yoseob would be more exhausted.

“I… I’m tired…” Yoseob croaked out, his voice was dry and raspy against the silent apartment.

Hyunwoo let out an extremely relieved breath that the stifling quiet was finally broken, he felt a thousand times more nervous than every of his mission – Yoseob was more dangerous and explosive than any time bomb he had ever encountered, and having Yoseob intact was the most important thing.

There were so many meanings behind the statement of Yoseob being tired and Hyunwoo was terrified by those simple words. I’m tired because I need to rest, I’m tired because of the flight, I’m tired because of my schedule, I’m tired because I haven’t had much sleep, I’m tired of feeling like this, I’m tired so let me go, I’m tired so don’t do this to me anymore, I’m tired of being with you.

Hyunwoo chose to believe that Yoseob meant he was tired physically, it did occur to him that Yoseob was ‘kidnapped’ straight from the second he arrived after the long flight and endless schedules, and the crying so forcefully should be very taxing on his mind and body alike.

“Do you want to lie down on the bed?” Hyunwoo whispered to Yoseob’s hair and felt a weak head shake. “Sit on the sofa?” A hesitant nod. “Okay, let’s go to the living room.”

Gingerly, Hyunwoo loosened his hug and bent down on his knees a little. He scooped the younger man up, his strong arms crossing and supporting Yoseob under the . Instinctively, Yoseob wrapped his legs around Hyunwoo’s waist – his arms around Hyunwoo’s neck – and rested his cheek on the older man’s broad shoulder. Hyunwoo carried Yoseob off like a child in his arms, walking casually towards the black leather sofa in the living room.

He gently lowered himself on the cushion and sat down with minimum disturbance to Yoseob who was still clinging like a baby koala. When he was already seated, he gently tried to remove Yoseob from his lap and transferred him to the space next to him. However Yoseob resisted and shook his head adamantly, he did not want to sit alone because he might curl up on himself and cry again out of pity for his stupid self. So he clung tighter to Hyunwoo.

“You want to sit here?” Hyunwoo asked softly. Yoseob nodded.

The older man smiled and rearranged Yoseob slightly on his lap to be more comfortable, “Okay. Is this comfortable for you?” Another nod and Hyunwoo Yoseob’s back gently while rocking back and forth, a soothing motion he had learned when he tried to calm down a terrified orphan in Cambodia in one of his missions.

Silence once again prevailed in the apartment, but this time there were no punctuated sobs. It was just pure silence and soft breathing sounds. The sun was setting as soft orange glow flooded the living room through the floor-to-ceiling windows. It was still sunny and bright when they first arrived and now the sun was almost setting, it was going to be night time soon. They had spent a lot of time and none of the issues had been touched upon.

But first, he needed to get Yoseob to drink something. “Yoseobah…” Hyunwoo whispered as he looked down to a very tired face resting on his chest. Yoseob hummed in reply and Hyunwoo continued. “Do you want some warm milk?”

He watched as Yoseob frown at the question, a slight hurt flitted across the young but exhausted face, and Hyunwoo’s heart dropped to the ground, afraid that Yoseob would run again. Hyunwoo did not feel scared often, but with Yoseob, he constantly felt afraid. The fear of the younger man running was always there, it was always at the back of his mind and he was afraid that one day Yoseob would vanish from his life forever. He was afraid of losing Yoseob.

“Is there something wrong?” Hyunwoo asked softly and tightened his hug before Yoseob could go anywhere else.

“Am I just a kid to you?” The hurt was palpable in his voice.

Hyunwoo shook his head, “No.”

Yoseob looked up and Hyunwoo met the younger man’s sad eyes, “Then why are you offering me warm milk? Do I look two?”

A confused frown appeared in between Hyunwoo’s eyebrows because he just thought – “Because you are dehydrated and you need to drink something. And warm milk calms people down, at least that’s what the Ahjumma I met at the supermarket told me. I’m sorry if I offend you, I have no intention of doing that.”

“I always feel like…” Yoseob buried his face on Hyunwoo’s chest and once again his voice trembled and his body shook slightly. Hyunwoo wanted to kick himself on the face and stab his stomach over and over again for making Yoseob cry again; like the younger man had not cried enough for the past hour or so.

Yoseob swallowed thickly, “I always feel like you see me as this small petulant child. You don’t take me seriously, whatever I do will always get brushed aside, you squint when I say about my feelings because you think I am weird and strange. I can never be like Sooyeon Noona, all confidence and put together, I can never be someone you admire, someone you see as equal, someone you expect me to be. I can never be your priority, I can never be first in your life, you will never understand my feelings for you because I am just a kid that you need to babysit!”

Hyunwoo felt a little panic attack coming in because he needed to make Yoseob understand. He sighed because he was feeling like the biggest in the ing world, “I was scared, Yoseob. I was so scared because I have been living like how I had been living for too long. I like the monotonous of it all, I like how everything was at least predictable, I like how I know Sooyeon will be there and I like how she and Yoogun will always belong together. I like knowing things, I like understanding things. And then you came.”

Hyunwoo stopped talking as he unwrapped one hand from hugging Yoseob and cupped Yoseob’s chin. He tilted the younger man’s face up gently and his expression immediately softened as he watched Yoseob blinking his tears away. Yoseob’s long lashes were wet and clumping together, while his eyes were red and swollen – probably from both lack of sleep and too much crying, and Hyunwoo wanted to kick himself in the face again.

Hyunwoo smiled as they stared at each other, “And then you came. And you wrecked havoc in my life and you were all I was afraid of, I didn’t understand you because you are different and it scared the out of me. You and your bright and warm smiles and all the sunshine in the world and your strange and direct ways of expressing your feelings and you… just you. Just being Yang Yoseob. I cannot stop thinking about you, I am more acquainted with my phone now because of your texts and calls. There was one time when I forgot my phone in the office and I had to go back to get it because I knew you would be texting, usually I would just go home and get it the next day.”

Hyunwoo saw a frown between Yoseob’s eyebrows and he cupped the younger man’s cheek instead. Yoseob tilted his head slightly so that his cheek fit perfectly inside Hyunwoo’s warm palm. The older man’s smile widened and he continued, “Since I have met you, I have gone to more places than the rest of my life combined. You teach me how to live, how to have an adventure, how to feel again, how to be happy, how to be confused, how to be scared. I am feeling very scared right now, I am scared you will run away again, I am scared you will decide that I am not worthy of you, I am scared you will be tired of doing this. I am scared that you will leave me.”

“But I saw you with Sooyeon Noona. I saw you two at the amusement park together, doing things I want to do with you, holding hands, wearing stupid ear headbands, taking pictures with the park’s costume characters. I have told you I wanted to do it and couples do it too, and you had to do it with her. And I heard you in the restaurant too. I was there to give back your stupid key, and I heard you telling her about leaving a seat next to you for her… where do I sit then? There is no space for me next to you. And the necklace, I saw the necklace you bought for her, it was hanging beautifully on her rear mirror and I remember you said that you only bought jewelry for someone you really care about and you bought it for her. I just cannot wrap my mind around it all. It is all too confusing for me…” Yoseob shut his eyes as a lonely tear escaped, trickling down to Hyunwoo’s hand that was cupping the younger man’s cheek.

Hyunwoo shook his head sadly, “I’m sorry. I am so sorry. It wasn’t supposed to be like that, I’m sorry you have to go through all of these. I shot her. I shot her before, and you have to pay for my mistake. I am so sorry.” Tears finally overflowed from Hyunwoo’s eyes and he was crying too. Yoseob widened his eyes in surprise and confusion, Hyunwoo had never said anything about shooting anyone.

“I shot her, Yoseobah. And that was why I have to be responsible for her. She was used as a shield by a criminal and instead of listening to Team Leader Jung not to shoot, I shot and the bullet went through her shoulder. Her right shoulder isn’t working as it used to be now, she can’t even point a gun properly without wavering. I shot her.” Hyunwoo hung his head down in shame as he continued crying.

“But doesn’t she have Team Leader Jung?”

Hyunwoo shook his head, “Something happened to Team Leader Jung and it hit Sooyeon so badly. You told me that people felt happy when they went to amusement parks, so I took Sooyeon there, so she could be happy again, although just for a little while.”

This time, it was Yoseob’s turn to cup Hyunwoo’s cheek and tilted his head up, “Can you tell me what happen to Team Leader Jung?” Hyunwoo shook his head fervently and Yoseob nodded gently, understanding the rejection.

“Because Yoogun is not around at the moment, I have to be responsible for Sooyeon. I have almost killed her once, so I told her if she ever needed a place to fall back to, I will always be there for her. Sooyeon wanted nothing of the sorts, she didn’t want me to be responsible for her because she knew Yoogun was coming back to take care of her. I am sorry you have to suffer from the mistake I did. I am so sorry…”

“Shhh…” Yoseob leaned forward and wrapped his hands around Hyunwoo’s body, now he was the one hugging Hyunwoo safely although the older man was much broader and bigger then he was. “Shhh… It’s okay, it’s okay.”

“And the necklace. I bought it a long time ago but I had no courage and opportunity to give it to Sooyeon. I was trying to tie all the loose ends with her and carry on with my life and with you. The necklace was the last reminder I had about her. I am sorry for everything, I’m sorry. Do you still hate me?” Hyunwoo’s question shocked Yoseob, it was true that Yoseob was screaming his hatred to Hyunwoo a while ago but he could never hate Hyunwoo, he loved him.

“No.” Yoseob shook his head, a small smile playing on his lips as he gripped both of Hyunwoo’s upper arms and pushed him away slightly so they could stare at each other, “I can never hate you, Ahjussi.”

Hyunwoo laughed weakly at the endearment and he knew everything was okay now. “I love you, I love you so much. You should know that.”

Yoseob pursed his lips because an obnoxious shout of happiness was about to burst out from his mouth. He flushed prettily and grinned, “I love you too. Since the first time I saw you in the dirty alleyway. Although you teased me about my make up and my running eyeliner.”

“It was my first time seeing a guy with make up on. I like you like this better. All natural and barren.” Hyunwoo swept Yoseob’s fringe sideways lovingly and wiped the tear streaks off the younger man’s cheeks.

Yoseob suddenly pouted, “I have to warn you though, I am not going to share you with anyone else. Not even with Sooyeon Noona and your stupid responsibility to her. I am a selfish , I at sharing and I am not going to do it, especially if you are involved.”

Hyunwoo laughed this time, sincere and happy, showing the crooked teeth that Yoseob was absolutely crazy about because it was so cute and everyone in the entertainment industry had cookie-cutter white straight teeth, “I need to share you with the rest of the world. Do you think that is fair for me?” He teased Yoseob.

“Do you want me to quit the business?” Yoseob asked, serious this time, “I will do it if you want me to, I will do anything for you. I will call Jintaek Hyung in a heartbeat – OH MY GOD JINTAEK HYUNG! I NEED TO CALL HIM BECAUSE WHAT TIME IS IT NOW. HE IS GOING TO KILL ME – “

Hyunwoo steadied the panic man on his lap so that Yoseob would not fall face first on the carpeted floor, “Calm down, I texted Dongwoon and Kikwang before you arrived. I have also asked them to tell Jintaek that I would send you home, safe and happy. Everything is taken care of, don’t worry.”

“Yeah?” Yoseob almost burst into tears again because he was so so so relieved. The happy shine in his eyes was worth killing for.

Hyunwoo nodded, “Yes, I have informed them. And no, I don’t want you to quit the business if you like it, but if you don’t then don’t do it anymore. I just want to make you happy, whatever your choice is.”

Yoseob beamed because his happiness just shot through the roof.

“Can I kiss you?” Hyunwoo quickly covered his stupid mouth with a hand, his eyes widened a little when he realized he had blurted out.

Yoseob laughed at that and immediately leaned down to capture Hyunwoo’s soft lips with his own. Hyunwoo had kissed before, but it was never like this. He closed his eyes and saw fireworks exploding when Yoseob a little more on his lower lips. Hyunwoo became bolder as he tentatively slid his tongue into Yoseob’s mouth, which was very well received as Yoseob and on it. On the first touch of tongue against tongue, Hyunwoo moaned. , the sensation was delicious, sending electric pleasures all through his body, from the tip of his hair to the end of his fingertips.

The kiss got deeper and hotter, the and the became more confident and daring. Yoseob whined as he moved from sitting on Hyunwoo’s lap to straddling Hyunwoo’s thighs, one hand pulling on Hyunwoo’s hair while the other hand Hyunwoo’s white tee shirt to pull him closer, closer, closer still. Yoseob moved his hips against Hyunwoo crotch and a wave of excruciating pleasure washed over Hyunwoo and he immediately opened his eyes and pushed the younger man away gently, breaking the make out session.

“Why?” Yoseob asked, confused and breathless. He was panting and his lips were slightly swollen from the and he was absolutely able and –

Hyunwoo shook his mind clear of any dirty thoughts, “Do you still want the warm milk?”

At first, Yoseob blinked in confusion, and then he frowned, then slowly he widened his eyes, and finally he combusted into tiny particles of laughing matter. “Ahjussi, we were having a really hot make out session and you asked me if I wanted some warm milk?”

Hyunwoo squinted his eyes because he had no idea what was wrong with offering warm milk, “You are exhausted and dehydrated, you need to drink something nutritious. I have some oat milk and stuff, I can make that for you too.”

“But we were making out…”

“You are in no condition to make out. Don’t even think further than that. So do you want the milk?” Hyunwoo chastised the younger man when he saw a naughty glint in Yoseob’s eyes.

Yoseob pouted and shook his head, but he obeyed nonetheless. He sat back down on Hyunwoo’s lap and hugged the older man’s waist, resting his cheek back on the sturdy chest. “I don’t want you to go anywhere, I am comfortable like this. Just stay like this for a little while. Am I heavy? Are you legs sleeping?” Yoseob looked up and blinked his eyes innocently.

Hyunwoo laughed again, “No, you are too thin to be heavy. I am scared of breaking you when I hug you. You need to gain weight.”

“Yeah… later…hmmm…” Yoseob mumbled incoherently as he snuggled onto Hyunwoo’s chest, closing his eyes. Soon enough, Yoseob’s breathing evened out and there was a soft, almost inaudible snore coming from the younger man. Hyunwoo smiled as he looked down to see Yoseob sleeping peacefully against him. He placed a loving kiss on top of Yoseob’s head and rubbed soothingly on Yoseob’s back.

He, too, closed his eyes because it had been a pretty rough week for him. He looked out of his floor-to-ceiling windows in the living room onto the endless night sky. The moon was high up in the sky, small because of the distance, and a few rare stars blinking at him. He relaxed on his black leather sofa, relishing on the comfortable weight on top of him. He rested his head back on the soft cushion and stared at the night sky, slowly drifting off to sleep.

It was the most peaceful sleep Hyunwoo had ever experienced in his entire life.
