Yoseob wanted to die right now.

Or at least for the ground under his feet to open up and swallow him whole, so he could melt into the burning lava inside and evaporated into thin air. He was the greatest idol of his generation, but Yong Junhyung was also one of the greatest composers of this (his) generation. And so Yoseob should not be surprised to see him leaning on the wall outside one of the waiting rooms of a music show, but he still hated to see him and Hayoon Noona together. Showing up together was just ing rude.

Yoseob was ready to make a detour to reach his waiting room on the other side of the hall when Hayoon called out loudly, all bright and sweet smiles, waving vigorously at Yoseob. He was tempted to pretend not to hear anything, pretend to just walk away, pretend to not seeing anything at all. But that would be ing rude from his side. So Yoseob stopped in his attempt to walk away and hesitantly put up a hand to wave back awkwardly.

This was what Yoseob hated from Hayoon Noona, she just could not read the situation at hand and jumped right at it, without thinking of other people’s feelings… but this was what Yoseob loved the most about her. Hayoon was always so straightforward – even when they broke up (he winced) – she was the light of his life, the bright sun when he felt down. She was so persistent that Yoseob would smile even on his hardest days – because she would never leave him alone until Yoseob was up and happy again.

“Yoseobaahhhh!!” Hayoon ran excitedly towards Yoseob and hugged the younger man tight, automatically resting her head on his left shoulder, just like how they used to hug in the past. Yoseob leant down and pressed his nose onto Hayoon’s hair, inhaling the familiar vanilla scent from her shampoo. He closed his eyes and tightened his embrace on the smaller woman, savoring the feel of her in his arms again. Warm, pliant, and absolutely perfect.

Yoseob was lost in his own memories when he felt a soft push on his chest, and immediately unwrapped himself from the woman who he once thought was the love of his life – oh how wrong could he be in that opinion. “Hi, Noona.”

Hayoon cupped Yoseob’s face with a hand and looked at him proudly, a bright smile on her face, “You look good, Yoseobah. How are you?”

Yoseob shrugged, fidgeting with his fingers, “I’m good… I’m good…”

Her smile went wider, “Great. It’s great to hear you are good.”

There was a slight pause in which both of them stared at each other, not believing that they would meet up this soon after the horrible break up, after she gave Yoseob’s heart back to him.

Yoseob was the one who broke the silence, “What are you doing here, Noona?”

She smiled sweetly again and Yoseob’s heart clenched, “Junhyung is here for Hongki’s stage and I’m here to accompany him. You know how he is.”

Yoseob was dumbstruck for a while before he nodded his head and looked down awkwardly, his heart hurt so much right now that he’d rather cut his chest open and stab his heart repeatedly so it would stop hurting. She continued, “I heard you are into boxing now?” Yoseob nodded again and she squealed excitedly, “That’s good for you! I am so happy for you, Yoseobah. I am.” Hayoon held Yoseob’s hand and the younger man looked up to see her beaming at him. Soft long brown hair framing even softer features and soft eyes, Yoseob remembered how soft and gentle everything was about Hayoon.

Then suddenly a pair of manly hands wrapped around Hayoon’s slim waist from behind and a face rested on her shoulder. A smirk formed on Junhyung’s face as he asked, “What are you doing, honey?”

Yoseob wanted to die at the moment. This was a good timing to die. There was nothing Yoseob wanted more than to die. Death was the only comforting thing to Yoseob now.

Hayoon immediately let Yoseob’s hand go and placed her palms on Junhyung’s arms. She turned slightly to look at Junhyung, “I was just talking with Yoseob, it’s been a while, hasn’t it?”

“Yes.” Junhyung answered with a satisfied smile on his face, eyes never leaving Yoseob’s face for a second, even though he was speaking to Hayoon. “How are you, Seobie?”

Yoseob’s face paled at the nickname. He wanted to sew Junhyung’s lips together so that he would never call him ‘Seobie’ again, for ’s sake.

“You look great, Seobie. I heard you are training some boxing? Can I join there as well? You look so much fitter now.” Junhyung smiled at a fuming Yoseob.

And just like a cliché bell ringing in some high school drama, Yoseob was saved when Hongki called Junhyung from afar, asking both Junhyung and Hayoon to come over because he was going to perform soon. Hayoon smiled at Yoseob, saying something like they should all go out together and other things Yoseob could not bother to hear, while Junhyung was all smirks and condescending eyes.

Yoseob was absolutely quiet, he could not feel anything, could not hear anything, could not see anything.  Everything was a mess of blur to him as he stood there, horrified and hurt. He hated the fact that he still hurt. He hated it, he wanted not to hurt anymore, he wanted to forget, he did not want to remember any of this anymore.

He wanted to forget even just for a little while.

“Hyung… you should stop.” Dongwoon whined as he tried to stop Yoseob from pouring another glass of soju. Yoseob slapped the younger man’s hand away roughly and gulped down the clear burning liquid down his throat.

Dongwoon winced at the sight of Yoseob gulping his soju down, “Yoseob Hyung, let’s stop this. You are scaring me. Please stop.”

Yoseob laughed like a maniac and poured Dongwoon a glass, “Nooo~~” he slurred, “Let’s drink ourselves to oblivion! Cheers!”

When Dongwoon did not drink up, Yoseob shouted at him in frustration, “Yah! Why didn’t you drink? Drink up, Dongwoonah!”

Dongwoon shook his head, “I don’t want to drink myself to oblivion, Hyung. Please stop this, let’s go home and sleep this off, okay?” Yoseob ignored him and continued pouring his fourth bottle of soju.

Dongwoon sighed. They were sitting at the far corner of a small grill shop that they often frequented, the customers were mostly old people so no one barely recognized them at all, and tonight was a school night, no youngster was seen loitering around the area (they would get into so much trouble if this leaked out to the media or the public).

They came to the grill shop straight after Yoseob was done with the music show, there was something amiss during the performance but Yoseob was not a good entertainer if he could not cover this up. As usual, he was amazing on stage, flawless with lots of fan services, winking and smiling like the fans were his whole life. But when he was back in the waiting room, Dongwoon could sense that something went terribly wrong.

When he saw Junhyung Hyung and Hayoon Noona came out of Hongki’s waiting room, Dongwoon sighed heavily and immediately knew what had happened and what would happen next which was: Yoseob drinking into oblivion, again. Dongwoon understood completely and simply followed his Hyung obediently.

“Okay, that’s enough.” Dongwoon finally ended it when Yoseob’s head lolled back and forth. “Come on, Hyung. It’s time to go home.” Dongwoon was about to help a totally drunk Yoseob up from the stool when the idol started throwing a fit and struggled endlessly.

“Hyung, this is enough. Let’s go home.”

Yoseob shook his head and whispered, “….Ahjussi….”

“What did you say?”

Yoseob rested his head sideways on the table and looked at Dongwoon with his irresistible puppy eyes, “….Ahjussi….”

Dongwoon frowned, “Ahjussi? You want Ahjussi? What Ahjussi?”

Yoseob smiled blearily at the younger man and dug his pocket for his phone. He precariously handed it over to Dongwoon, “….Ahjussi… here…”

Dongwoon caught the phone just in time before it dropped to the floor and shattered into a million pieces. “What Ahjussi? Yah, Hyung! Hyung! Aishh…” He cursed aloud when he heard a soft snore coming from Yoseob.

He fiddled with Yoseob’s phone, opening call logs, messages, and chat histories. Finally he found “Old Ahjussi” consistently in all of those and pressed the screen to call. The call went through a few rings before a rough voice answered, “Yah, don’t you know what time –“

“Hello, Ahjussi-sshi.” Dongwoon spoke politely to the phone, he was even bowing politely from his sitting position as if Hyunwoo could see him through the phone.

There was a pause on the other end before Hyunwoo spoke again, “Yoseob….?”

Dongwoon cleared his throat, “Ah, this is Song Dongwoon. I am very sorry for troubling you so late like this. Yoseob Hyung is passed out from drinking too much and he kept asking for you to come.”

“That kid… Can’t you just bring him home?”

“He was asking for you, Ahjussi-sshi, and would not budge even an inch if it wasn’t you. Is it possible to come over? I am very sorry for this, Ahjussi-sshi, but Yoseob Hyung really needs you right now. If you can just help him out tonight, we are forever indebted to you.” Dongwoon said politely, afraid to provoke Hyunwoo’s anger.

A sigh from the other side and then, “Okay, where are you two? I’ll be driving there now.”

Dongwoon thanked Hyunwoo profusely and afterwards giving the older man the address of the grill shop. The younger man immediately started packing up Yoseob’s belongings and rearranged his Hyung into a better position (Yoseob kept mumbling for Ahjussi every time he was moved).

About twenty minutes later, Dongwoon saw a tall attractive man walked into the grill shop. His eyes swept the place and immediately walked towards their direction when he saw Yoseob sleeping on the table. Dongwoon widened his eyes in shock. This was Ahjussi? This man was way too handsome to be the Ahjussi Yoseob had always talked about, he was way too tall, way too hot to be Yoseob’s Ahjussi.

“Are you Son Dongwoon-sshi?”

Oh , this was absolutely Yoseob’s ahjussi.

Dongwoon was immediately on his feet, bowing a polite ninety degrees over and over again. “Yes, Ahjussi-sshi, uhh… Hyung-nim…” Dongwoon was not sure how to address the man in front of him.

Hyunwoo smirked as he looked at the flustered youngster. “I’m Hyunwoo. You can call me anything, I don’t mind.”

Dongwoon nodded absentmindedly, still stunned to see a perfectly handsome man in front of him. Hyunwoo was not an Ahjussi, he was dressed comfortably in faded jeans and crumpled blue shirt, his black coat was removed and now resting at the other end of the round table. His hair was neatly cut and soft, moving across his forehead when he bent down to take a good look at the drunken Yoseob.

“Yah, kid.” Hyunwoo shook Yoseob carefully, “Yah, wake up.”

Yoseob opened his eyes blearily and smiled brightly when he saw Hyunwoo’s face, “Ahjussiiiii~~~” he slurred, “Ahjusssiii~~~ you came. Oh , I’m so drunk right now.” Yoseob hiccupped cutely and laughed again.

Hyunwoo snorted at the ridiculousness that was Yoseob, “No you are drunk. Are you even of legal age to drink, kid?” Yoseob mumbled something that sounded like a yes and a no at the same time. Hyunwoo carefully lifted Yoseob’s head up from the table, propping it with his hand and looked at the still open-mouthed Dongwoon, “Um, Dongwoon-sshi can you help Yoseob on my back? My car is over at the other side of the road so I will need to carry him before getting him inside.”

“Y – y – yes… yes… of course.” Dongwoon stuttered.

“Why are you so tense? Did I scare you that much?” Hyunwoo lifted an eyebrow.

Dongwoon quickly shook his head, “No – no – no! It was just that… you are so different…”

“Different… from?”

“From how Yoseob Hyung described you… you are very very good looking.”

Hyunwoo laughed, but still focused on Yoseob, “I am? Did Yoseob say I was ugly?”

“No… I just thought you were very old and wrinkly and you lived somewhere ten feet under the ground and unshaven with long unruly hair and… yeah… things like that.” Dongwoon said offhandedly while placing Yoseob’s legs on either side of Hyunwoo’s body.

Hyunwoo laughed again, “This little rascal. I knew he would say something like that.”

They worked in silence to get Yoseob safe and comfortable on Hyunwoo’s back and headed out of the shop. Hyunwoo’s black coat was wrapped around Yoseob. Dongwoon stopped suddenly and asked, “Hyung-nim can you wait for a bit? I need to settle the bills.”

Hyunwoo continued walking and calmly answered without even looking back, “I have settled it when I came in. Come on quickly, Yoseob will catch a cold if he is outside for too long.” Dongwoon nodded and they walked side by side in silence.

“Don’t idols have managers and stuff? Shouldn’t he take care of Yoseob and scolded him for drinking so much like this?” Hyunwoo asked in the middle of their walk.

Dongwoon nodded and answered, “Yes, they do. But Yoseob Hyung is not just an idol, he is larger than life. The company is under his mercy and it doesn’t help that he just went through a very nasty break up with his previous girlfriend.”

“Previous girlfriend?” Hyunwoo asked, his curiosity peaked.

Dongwoon sighed, “Yoseob Hyung and Hayoon Noona had been together for almost five years and he believed that they were going to have a family together, that they were meant for each other. They were so happy together before Junhyung Hyung snatched Hayoon Noona away in a heartbeat and left Yoseob Hyung crumpled on the floor.”

“Junhyung… who?”

Dongwoon looked at Hyunwoo, “You don’t know Yong Junhyung too? Man, Yoseob Hyung was right, maybe you did live ten feet under the ground.” Dongwoon chuckled and continued, “He is one of the greatest composers in this generation. He and Yoseob Hyung were best friends before. They faced the world together, they shared everything together. He helped Yoseob Hyung to realize his dreams to be a singer when Hyung’s parents wanted him to take over the Yang family business. But then he and Hayoon Noona….” Dongwoon trailed off, “I think I’ve said too much. Yoseob Hyung is going to kill me.”

Hyunwoo smirked, “No he won’t, I won’t tell him anything.” Yoseob snuggled tighter onto Hyunwoo’s back and mumbled incoherently. The older man bounced Yoseob a few times to calm him down and soon enough Yoseob was back to his alcohol-induced slumber. When Yoseob was safely buckled in the front seat, Hyunwoo draped the black coat over the idol’s sleeping form and tucked him in. Dongwoon got on the passenger seat and quickly dozed off as well.

It was almost four in the morning when Hyunwoo finally reached Yoseob’s apartment. The idol’s manager and another young man were sitting at the steps in front of the building, waiting anxiously for their arrival. Both of them quickly sprung up on their seats when Dongwoon came out of the passenger seat of the car.

Dongwoon quickly unbuckled Yoseob and simultaneously talked to the other young man who has been waiting, “Kikwang-ah, hurry up and help Yoseob Hyung out. Hyung-nim needs to go back.”

Kikwang looked at Hyunwoo who was busy putting an unconscious Yoseob on the manager’s back. He bowed politely, “Hyung-nim, I am Lee Kikwang. I am very sorry for the trouble. Thank you very much for your help, we are forever indebted to you.” Hyunwoo patted Kikwang’s shoulder and pacified him that it was okay with a soft smile.

When Yoseob was securely draped on the manager’s back, the three of them bowed over and over again to Hyunwoo, apologizing for the trouble and thanking him profusely before they went inside the apartment, careful of any media or public attention.

Hyunwoo watched them left but did not leave from his spot. He stared at the closed door for a while before going into his car and driving off into the dark night. There was no way he could go back to sleep for the rest of the night.
