As much as I want to help Sehun, he's not the one I followed home today. To get my plan in motion, I would need to persuade a little deer to talk to said boy, instead of me trying to talk to deaf ears; like I said, my whispers only work if the person on the receiving end actually has thoughts of such things. Plus, I don't think that Sehun is the type of person who talks to himself, so directly asking him what's bothering him wouldn’t actually get me anywhere.... So here I am now, watching Luhan settle down on his bed, yawning and stretching his arms above his head. For the past hour, he had been doing some sort of homework; Korean maybe, considering how he kept stumbling over sentences, slowly mouthing them out and nodding whenever he finished reading a page. Anyways, he was finally taking a break, taking his phone out and scrolling through a group chat he had just made with the rest of the Chinese boys, including Xiumin and Chen since they could understand Mandarin. I took a seat beside him, casually looking at their chat as it happened. It was quite amusing how teenagers message each other nowadays.

Luhan stretched out his arms above his head, tilting it from side to side when he finally looked up from the phone screen. Almost a whole hour was spent chatting, but I was curious as to why Sehun never appeared, not even once when he was first added.

“I wonder where Sehunnie went…” muttered Luhan quietly to himself, staring forlornly at the phone in his hand. “He was acting weird before as well… Did something happen?”

I leaned over, whispering the words he needed to convince himself of what he wanted to do. I could see it in his face, he wanted to reach out to Sehun but was hesitant about it. Maybe he was afraid of being pushed away. You won’t know if you won’t try…

He fingers swiftly begin typing a new message, and I can’t help but smile as I reposition myself into a more comfortable position, folding my wings to the other side. A loud ping echoed throughout the room, and both of us focused once more on ‘the tiny screen’ as Kris had put it.

I startled when Luhan suddenly squealed beside me.

“He just admitted we’re friends! Ice Prince even used a smiley,” he cheered happily, giggling as he typed his next message. His reaction reminded me so much of Sehun’s, it was uplifting to see them so in sync with each other, even when they’re apart.

I look to see Luhan visibly frowning, eyebrows crinkled in the centre. He threw his phone down onto the soft blanket on the bed, pressing his face to the pillow in his lap.

“What is this boy even saying?” he mumbled, biting his bottom lip as he picked the phone up again. I wonder if I should be by Sehun’s right now but the time it’ll take me to fly there might cause me to miss things. Especially considering the speed at which Luhan was furiously typing, his frustration at the younger’s lacklustre response leaking through. Not that he was actually angry or anything, it just looked like he wished Sehun trusted him more.

When he was met with silence, Luhan released a sigh. I felt sorry for the boy, but I understood Sehun’s behaviour too. I think I know what this is all about, but I guess I won’t be sure unless Luhan manages to coax it out of the younger. He shook his head, his expression one of resignation

And there it is. I was right. I had an inkling that Sehun would think of his mother, and her horrible experience with ‘love’. Any child would have developed a sort of trauma because of it, and Sehun was quite sensitive on the inside. Luhan, though, still looked confused since he was not privy to the knowledge that was given to me; he didn’t seem as if he was judging the other, just genuinely worried at why the youngest would feel that way. I doubt Sehun would tell him the whole story, at this point in time at least, but hopefully he’ll explain a little bit.

There was a long pause as Luhan just stared at his screen, not knowing what to type. To be honest, I don’t know what should be done in this situation either… Luhan continuously typed and erased and re-typed and erased his messages, faltering every time his finger hovered over the ‘send’ button.

‘What happened to make you think this way?’

‘Just because it happened to your parents, doesn’t mean it’ll happen to-’

‘I’m sorry’

Luhan released a huge breath after typing out his long message, cracking his knuckles. I had to resist whispering in his ear, that he himself was the soulmate he had spoken to Sehun about. I’m sure he has a gut feeling, but it’s a little too weak as of now to be detected by his mind.

Well, Sehun certainly opened up, even sending an ‘x’ to Luhan first. I grinned, revelling in the fact that Sehun was starting to open up to Luhan more. Today was a pretty good day, getting to see hilarious messages between ‘EXO’ and although the topic was more serious between Luhan and Sehun, it still ended on a happy note. Another day down, let’s hope tomorrow is just as good.
