~ A couple of days later, Palace of the Northwest (EXO-M) ~

3^rd person POV

“PRINCESS, WE’VE GOT TO GET YOUR MAKEUP DONE!”

“AND GET YOU IN YOUR DRESS!”

“PRINCESS RINA!”

The day of the wedding has finally come, and everyone was panicking in order to get you prepared. However, you sat your down flat on your bed, refusing to budge.

“CROWN PRINCESS! COME ON, YOU DON’T WANT TO BE LATE!” Everyone was shouting at you to hurry the up, but you honestly didn’t want to anymore. At first you were alright with it, but suddenly you remembered something that must happen at weddings. The kiss. Oh god, the kiss.

‘He’d be stealing my first kiss!’ you grumbled inside your mind.

“OKAY FINE, GIVE ME 10 MINUTES, OKAY? JUST 10 MINUTES AND I SWEAR I’LL START TO GET READY.” You hollered back, and got up to shove everyone out of your room, ignoring the complaining you received back. You closed the door and sighed. Finally, 10 minutes of peace.

*shixun shixun shixun.* you called with your mind, and the crown prince of the neighbouring country answered 3 seconds later.

‘What’s up? You sound panicky.’

*No, I – I just wanted to talk to you. I’m kind of -* you stopped mid sentence. You didn’t want anyone else to know that you were friggin getting married.

‘Kind of what?’

*Uh, bored. You haven’t talked to me for two whole days!* You changed the subject quickly. Sehun laughed.

‘Missed me that much?’ he teased. ‘I was researching more about the legend with the hyungs. I thought I told you. What do you want to talk about?’

*Actually, never mind. I kind of got to go.* you sighed.

‘Don’t just call me and say never mind!’ you could almost hear the pouting in sehun’s voice. ‘I know you’re hiding something from me, idiot. Whatever’s bothering you, don’t let it get to you, okay? I believe in you.’ 

Your heart jumped a bit, and you couldn’t help but smile. *Thanks sehun. I’m glad I got to hear your voice, it really makes my day.*

~ Meanwhile ~

As you started getting your makeup done, kris, xiumin and luhan were all in luhan’s chamber, as the crown prince just finished getting ready. Lay, Tao, and Chen were still getting ready.

“I cannot believe I am playing the role of rina’s father.” Kris frowned, clearly not impressed. “You could’ve got chen to do it or something.”

“Are you serious? Be glad that father actually believed that she’s an orphan and still accepted her. It’s not like we could really say that she’s from another world you know.” Luhan rolled his eyes, and xiumin agreed.

“Fine.” Kris growled, and Luhan sighed.

“Why are you sighing so much, lu?” xiumin asked. “You’re getting married today, be happy! It’s not like you hate rina or something.”

Luhan shook his head. “No, it’s not that. I’m just kind of… Disappointed.”

Kris raised an eyebrow. “About what? Oh, is it about sehun?”

Luhan nodded. “Yeah. Remember how we promised each other that we’ll be each others’ best man when we got married?”

“Ah, I remember that. Well, yixing’s not bad either.” Xiumin smiled sympathetically, and patted luhan gently on the back.

“I know. But I want sehun to be my best man. I miss him.”

~ Outside Luhan’s chamber ~

A figure pressed his back against the wall, chuckling bitterly. “I knew it, I could never compare to him. I’d never be better than sehun.”

Lay covered his eyes with his hand, swallowing a lump in his throat. He had heard everything the 3 had said, and truthfully, he could feel the stabbing pain in his heart.

“I’ve been together with you just as long as sehun has. Why can’t I be your best friend? Why does he always come before me? Aren’t we just as close?” Lay whispered to himself, trying to clear up the confusion in his mind.

“Ge?” A voice startled Lay, making him open his eyes. “Are you sick?” It was Tao and Chen, who had just finished their preparations.

Lay forced a smile. “No, I just felt dizzy for a second. I think I stood up too fast or something. Let’s go in and meet the others.”

The moment they walked into the room, the three older gege’s brightened immediately. “Best man!” Kris came over and gave lay a fist bump.

Luhan swung an arm around lay. “Better be on your best behavior today, alright?” the prince teased with his usual immature smirk.

‘Why are you like this? You want sehun to be your best man, don’t you?’ Lay thought in his mind. However, being the kind hearted healer he is, he decided to just let it go, knowing that he couldn’t ask about it anyways.

Looking back to the big doe eyes staring back at him, lay softened. “Of course I’ll be. I’m proud to be your best man.”

~ A while later ~

You were walking down the aisle, with at least 982374927492 people staring at you. You couldn’t even think straight, all that was going through your mind was AIFJOWEIJAFOEWJFAJIFJPEWAKVPEJPVAJPFJPEOAJFPOEWJOA. Literally.

‘My first kiss my first kiss my first kiss! And it’s going to be taken by a guy who looks 12! Okay sure he’s hot and he’s nice – wait what am I saying this is my first kiss here! AND IT’S GOING TO BE IN FRONT OF 928347923874932 PEOPLE!’

The process went on, and soon enough, it was time for you and luhan to exchange rings. The emperor and empress were watching proudly, and you honestly didn’t want to this up.

Oh god. It was finally time for the kiss.

Luhan gently took your hands in his, and tilted his head slightly while looking into your eyes, as if asking you for your approval. You nodded slowly, and once he started leaning in, you immediately started regretting it again.

The crown prince smiled softly, and squeezed your hands for reassurance. Once he got dangerously close to your lips, he said something in a soft whisper that only you could hear. “I’ve been waiting for you for a long time, legendary girl.”

Your eyes widened and before you could even react, his soft lips were pressed gently onto your own. You could practically hear the whole world cheering, but you didn’t care about the people who were watching the two of you. For some odd reason, you closed your eyes and kissed luhan back.

He tasted like… Lollipops.

Sehun POV

I pressed my fingers to my lips gently, ignoring the fast pace of my heart. It felt like something was there. Something that felt like another pair of lips, actually.

It tasted sweet. Kind of like honey.

3^rd person POV

The wedding ceremony was finally over, and you were in luhan’s chamber alone, letting out a sigh practically every 2 minutes. You were relieved that it was finally over; your cheeks hurted from smiling so much at everyone, including the public. Guess the royal family really is a big deal.

The boys suddenly bursted in the room, cheering happily. You quickly stood up to greet them, stumbling on your wedding dress. Thankfully, Kris and Tao caught you just in time.

“Woah, be careful there crown princess!” Tao laughed, and Kris patted your dress down. “You look good in a wedding dress, idiot.”

“Hey hey. Don’t call my bride an idiot, faced brother.” Luhan joked, and came over to wrap an arm around you. You flinched a bit, avoiding his gaze. However, Luhan didn’t seem to take notice.

“Protective much, hyung.” Chen rolled his eyes, and Luhan gave him a sarcastic look. “The marriage might have been just for rina to enter the palace without causing suspicion, but it doesn’t change the fact that she’s my wife now.”

“Right. Well, now that rina has successfully invaded the palace, I believe it’s safe to research about the legend now.” Lay nodded, and everyone agreed.

“Let’s talk about that tomorrow, I need some rest.” Kris yawned.

“Yeah, it’s been a long day.” Xiumin added.

The members all decided to leave, and as luhan went to shut the door, you heard someone yelling, “Have fun tonight but don’t be too loud, okay, newly-weds?”

Your face turned darker than the color of your blush. Luhan had merely chuckled and shook his head. The crown prince walked over to where you were standing and smiled brightly. “So rina,” he pointed to the rings on both of your fingers. “We’re married now!”

You nodded slowly, not knowing how to reply to that. Luhan bent down, and before you could ask what he was doing, your legs were suddenly lifted up into the air and he was carrying you bridal style to the bed. “Y-yah, what are you doing?”

Luhan shrugged and laughed. “Shut up, just enjoy the feeling of the crown prince pampering you.”

He placed you on his soft bed, and sat next to you, tugging slightly at his tie. “So um, do you want to shower first, or...” luhan tried to make a conversation, but your mind was still spinning from the kiss and what he said before it.

“What did you mean by that earlier?” you asked softly.

“... Mean by what?” Luhan was confused.

“What you said before you...” you hesitated for a second. “Before you kissed me at the wedding.”

Luhan blinked. “Did I say something then?”

Your jaw dropped. ‘HE FORGOT ALREADY?’ “You said that you’ve been waiting for me for a long time or something!” you weren’t just going to let this one go.

“Oh.” Luhan rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly. “What is there to explain about that? I thought it was pretty blunt already. It just means that I’ve been waiting for you for a long time.”

“But what does that mean, idiot?” you repeated stupidly, and luhan ruffed his hair, trying to find words to explain it to you.

“Well, the 12 protectors have been nagged about the legend repeatedly almost every day, and we were constantly reminded of you as well as our duty. You think I have it easy being the crown prince, but honestly, I was watched like a hawk by everyone in the palace. If I didn’t do well, I would’ve been stripped of the title. Besides exo, no one has really seen me for ... luhan. Girls didn’t flock to me like birds for me, it was for my title. I longed to meet you, because maybe you’d be different. Sure enough, I was right. You sure don’t give a about my status, calling me names and hitting me all the time.” He chuckled a little at the end of his story. “Ah, whatever, just forget it. I don’t know what I’m trying to say either. I guess I’m just happy to be able to have a female friend like you who doesn’t freak out every time I talk to you.”

You felt your heart sank a bit. ‘A friend... Wait. What’s wrong with me? It’s not like I was hoping to be anything more than that.’

“Oh by the way, you wanna do it again?” Luhan smiled deviously.

“Do what?”

He pressed a finger on his own lips first, then took the finger and pressed it to yours. “Kiss. You taste like honey.”

You felt the blood flush to your cheeks, and you slapped luhan on the arm repeatedly. “You ert! I’m going to shower!”

Luhan let out a laugh, and grabbed your arm before you could stand up. “Loser face, how do you expect to shower with your wedding dress on? Here, I’ll help you take it off.”

“B-but I’m underneath!” you protested, and luhan made a loud ‘pfft!’ sound. “How can you just say something so straightforward like that? I promise I won’t look!”

“But you’ll see me in my bra and when you the dress!”

“It’s just the back! We’re married aren’t we?”

“But still!”

“Fine, I’ll close my eyes!”

“No, you’ll peek, you ert!”

“I swear I won’t peek!”

“... I’ll cut your off if you peek.” You threatened with a murderous glare, and luhan gulped nervously.

“O-okay okay I won’t peek. I promise.” You seemed serious, and luhan didn’t want to try his luck.

You stood up with your back facing the prince. He shut his eyes tightly, worried about his little luhan down there. He slowly ped the dress, and you slipped it off, leaving you in your undergarments. Luhan covered his eyes with his hands, and you dashed for the bathroom.

~After your shower ~

“.” You cursed under your breath, realizing that you haven’t brought any change of clothes into the bathroom.

You groaned and wrapped yourself with the towel, peeking your head out of the door. Your eyes darted to luhan, who changed into a simple t-shirt and pants. He just came out from his own shower in another bathroom, as he was drying his hair messily with a towel.

“luhan!”

The crown prince turned towards you and smiled. “You need a change of clothes, right? You rushed into the bathroom so fast, silly. The servants only brought your day clothes and er, personal... uh... clothes... you know what I mean. So I grabbed you one of my shirts, if that’s okay with you.”

You nodded slowly. “That’s fine. Xiexie. (thank you)”

“My shirt should be long enough, so um, you can come get your underwear yourself when you come out.” He scratched his head awkwardly, making you giggle.

After you were fully dressed (and smelling luhan’s shirt gushing about how good it smelled), you sat on the bed with luhan, who was trying to fix his hair. “You look good wearing my shirt.”

You pouted. “It’s too big on me though.”

Luhan laughed. “What did you expect? I’m way taller than you. And – YAH! Woman, the water on your hair is dripping all over the bed!”

“Ah, sorry...”

Luhan shook his head. “No, it’s okay. Here.” He grabbed the towel he was using earlier and placed it over your head, drying your hair for you gently. You didn’t complain, because he was slow and careful, making it feel extremely relaxing. You stared into his brown orbs that was staring right back into yours. The two of you gave each other a small smile, and you felt quite disappointed when luhan finished the process. He patted down all the messy strands that resulted and fixed your bangs for you.

“There. All better.”

“You’re the best, lu.”

Luhan shifted his position and chuckled. “I know. So, are we sleeping together tonight?”

“Uh, what?”

“We’re married, so technically, we’re supposed to sleep together you know. They didn’t bring your bed over.” Luhan shrugged. “The bed is big enough anyways.”

You pointed to the sofa. “You can sleep there.”

Luhan laughed. “Are you kicking me out of my own bed?”

“As a matter of fact, I am. I can’t just sleep with you!”

“I know, I know. I’ve already been prepared to sleep on the sofa. But you can’t tell anyone okay? No one must know that crown prince luhan sleeps on a couch!” he sighed dramatically, and you nudged him teasingly.

“And since you won’t give me a kiss...” luhan didn’t finish his sentence, but instead, kissed your cheek.

“Spoiled brat.” You huffed, and cupped his face with both of your hands, leaning in to give him a quick peck on the lips. “Happy now?”

You could see the faint tint of pink on luhan’s cheeks, and you couldn’t help but smile.

‘He really does taste like lollipops.’
