Bomi POV

     The snow descends from the sky in a slow, almost magical way. Every flake gleaming from the light that bounced of it from the morning sun.

     “Whoa! So beautiful!” I say as I look out the window.

     “What beauty comes from freezing snow?” says my mom as she walks towards me. I look at her and smile.

     “Well it’s actually a good thing for you umma!” she looks at me confused. “The cold will force people to want warmth and warm delicious food! So when they walk past they will want to come in and eat your delicious food.” She smiles and hugs me.

     “Aigoo! My sweet Bomi is trying to get on my good side!” she says while laughing. “Alright no more snow talk. Go to school before you're late!” she lets me go and then walks over to the stairs and yells, “Sungjong! Hurry up!” Sungjong is my brother. Sometimes I get jealous of him because he is prettier than I am.

    “Neh!!” he yelled.

    “Mom, it’s only a couple of blocks away, we won’t be late.”

    “Well you should get there early to study so you can get into college.”

    “I never study and I’m still number one in the school.”

    “Someday Bomi, you’re going to face something and not know what to do.”

    “Well until that day comes, I’ll just stick to my normal routine.” She sighs then smiles and pats my head.

    “My little genius… Now get to school before I beat you.” I smile and grab my bag.

    “Yah! Ugly! I’m going first!” I yell as I walk out of the store. As I walk down the street I look up at the sky smiling. I really love the snow! When I was young my real mom died in a car accident and a month later my dad fell ill, and before he died he told me... When the snow falls from the skies, every snow flake will be a piece of us watching over you.”

    Even though they both died in the winter, ever since that day, I loved and cherished the snow, like it was a part of me. My parent’s and Sungjong’s mom were best friends so when they died she immediately took me in and has always made me feel like I was her real daughter.

    “Ah!” I wasn’t paying attention and ran into someone. “I’m sorry.” I say as he turnd around. He just looks at me then walks away. “I said I was sorry, why do you always have to be like that!?” I yell.

     I ran into Kim Myungsoo. He is well known in our school for being cold hearted and emotionless. He doesn’t really talk much. He just looks at people like he hates them. Almost everyone is scared to look at him let alone talk to him. I have gone to the same school as him since we were in fifth grade. For some reason I never felt scared of him like everyone else did.

     I just shrug it off and continue to walk to school.

    “Bomi! Wait!” I turn around to see who it was. Sungjong was running towards me. “Mom told me to give you this.” He handed me my wallet.

    “Oh?! Thank you, I didn’t even know I forgot it.”

    He scoffed. “You forget everything. I think you’re the dumbest smart person out there.”

     “What?” I scoff. “At least I don’t look like a girl!”

     “What? Is that something to be proud of?!” he says and laughs at my mistake.

     “Huh? Aish!” I hiss while being completely embarrassed! He continues to laugh and point at me. People walking past were looking at us. Out of anger I picked up a clump of snow.

     “YAH! Sungjong! You’re DEAD!” I threw the snow at him. It hit him in the face. He instantly stops laughing. “Pft! Mwahahaha!!!” I start laughing now. The look on his face was priceless! He let out an annoyed laugh and did the same thing and threw a snowball at me.

     Then we started to have a snowball fight. We continue throwing snow at each other and laughing. We were having fun when something happened. I threw a snowball at Sungjong and he ducked, and it hit someone behind him. Sungjong looks at him then back at me. He picks up his stuff and runs away. I gave him a dirty look. How could he just run away! I run over to the person.

     “I’m so sorry!” I say as I wipe the snow off of his jacket.

     “It’s okay. Don’t worry about it.” He smiles at me and starts to walk towards the school. I watch as he walks away.

     “Now why can’t Myungsoo be like him?” I ask to myself.

    “Yah! Yoon Bomi!” I turn around and see my two best friends, Eunji and Chorong running towards me. “You just hit Sungyeol!” Chorong says. I look at them confused.

     “So? I said I was sorry.” They both hit my arm. “OW!” I yell and rub my arm. “What was that for?”

     “Lee Sungyeol is only the hottest most popular guy in school!”

     I scoff and laugh.

“You guys are ridiculous!” I say while laughing. “Does that make him a king!? Huh?! So I hit him with a snowball! Does that make me a criminal?!” They both tsk at me. “Aish, whatever!” I yell.

I grab their arms and link them with mine and head towards school.
