“Don't go, don't go, can't you just stay here?
✖
“Miss, you’ve been here for hours. Are you sure that the other party is arriving-”
“I’m sure. May I have another cup of water?”
The waiter looked at me disapprovingly, but I didn’t care. As he left, I turned to the window, looking for a certain model-like figure, wondering if he was ever going to come.
Time slows and stops. And though the time between Jaejoong and me was short, it left a big impression on me. Did I really have to look like those girls, plastered on magazines, to be loved by someone? Everyone was going to get wrinkles and flaws as they get older, and though I couldn’t deal with this fact, Jaejoong could. He taught me to think in a way that was different, to look at the bigger picture. He taught me something important: That it was the way I acted, instead of the way I looked, which mattered.
But right now, all I wanted was for time to speed up.
I’d been waiting at the restaurant, ordering glass of water after glass of water, alternately staring at my watch. Were we eating lunch, or dinner? As the hands on my watch moved, I felt the weight on my heart grow heavier. Was Jaejoong already gone from me? Was this the beginning of his betrayal?
Running a hand through my hair, I sighed.
“Waiting for your partner?”
I looked up into the face of an extremely beautiful girl. Though her hair was a raven black, and she had Asian features, her eyes were blue as ice. She had this aura around her, of confidence and of beauty, and I couldn’t help but be mesmerized by it. She was like Jaejoong-she didn’t seem to care much of her appearance, but her looks were still stunning.
“Uh-yes.”
“Forget it. You’ve been waiting forever. Just leave.”
I was surprised by her sharp and blunt answer.
“Oh.”
“If he’s doing that to you, he’s not worth it. How can he make you wait? How can he leave you hanging like that? Break things up between you two before it gets worse.”
She was about to say something else, but then a customer shouted to grab her attention, and she left with a bitter smile on her face. Though she’d only spoken to me for seconds, I was left with questions that only seemed to break away at me. Break up things between you two before it gets worse.
Should I really? Should I stop the contact between Jaejoong?
Maybe it won’t even hurt him…maybe he won’t even care?
Glancing at my watch, I knew what I’d decided. Taking out my cell phone from my pocket, I pressed my number one on speed dial, and got a man’s voice. I told him the name of the restaurant and to pick me up, and I sat there, now waiting for someone else.
Someone that would come for me.
