As soon as you woke up that morning, you see Kai sitting beside the window; arms crossed over his chest, his eyes closed, his back leaning on the wall, and his legs crossed over each other.

At first you had thought he was just thinking of something, but as you go near him and wave your hands in front of his face, you realize he is sleeping.

You blink. Every time you wake up, Kai is always awake. You didn’t even know if he does sleep. If so, you don’t even know where he sleeps. You always thought that he wakes up before you. So seeing him asleep like this is a first to you.

You sigh and leave him like that. After your realization the other day, you wanted to ask him about it, but chickened out. You just left him like that as you attend to your steps’ needs.

After finishing, you go upstairs and find Kai still in the same position.

“Weird angel, you are.” You mutter.

You prepare yourself for school then. When Kai is still in that position after you finished, you go in front of him. “I don’t want to wake you up. So I’ll just leave then, okay?” You don’t expect any answer from him because he is asleep. So you leave him and go to school.

As soon as you are gone out of the house, Kai’s eyes cracked open. He was awake the whole time and just waited for you to leave. He looks around the room. “As tidy as always.”

He smiles to himself weakly. He closes his eyes and opens his wings behind his back. It spreads across the room, feathers floating around from the burst of his wings. He looks up and shoots himself towards the heavens.
