Harana - tagalog word

                                          - serenade in English translation

"Honey, it's Friday night, didn't you have plans with Yoona tonight?" Mrs. Lee asked Seohyun after knocking on her room door. Seohyun looked up from the book she was reading while sitting up on her bed and shook her head. "I cancelled our night out, Mom."

Mrs. Lee frowned and leaned on the door frame, concerned. "Why?"

"I just don't feel like going out tonight." Seohyun sighed, turning to the next page of the book, clearly skimming over the page with a lack of interest. Mrs. Lee crossed her arms and said nothing, her finger tapping on her other arm as her daughter said nothing. Minutes after, Mrs. Lee sighed ans sat on the edge of her daughter's bed. "Seohyun..."

"Mom, don't." Seohyun closed the book with a sad look on her face. "I know what you're about to say and I'm tired of crying over it. I know all of you want to cheer me up and look at the brighter side of things and although I know that time would come eventually, it's really hard to do right now. Everytime I try pushing the emotions back, my mind would immediately remember what I saw and I can never take the pain that would follow. I appreciate you trying to cheer me up, Mom, but I really can't right now."

"I know, Seohyun. It's never easy but you know what only take away all the pain?" Mrs. Lee asked but she didn't wait for Seohyun to answer. "It's through communication. Nothing else would solve what the two of you are facing in your relationship right now but that. It would always be how you'd handle talking over things and smoothening it all out with your partner. It would always be up to the two of you to either solve things or end things. That's the bottomline."

Seohyun felt her hold on the book weaken and her fingers shaking. "But, Mom... it's still too hard for me."

"Oh, Seohyun," Mrs. Lee moved closer to her daughter and held her in her arms, cradling her like a baby. "Like I said, it's never easy but just another piece of advice, give him a chance to talk and explain. A good communication in a relationship is very important especially when the two of you are still in the process of getting to know each other more. Let him have his time to talk and listen, then he'll let you talk afterwards."

Seohyun looked up at her mom with her tear stained face. "Did you and Dad ever had fights like this?"

"Not exactly like this, Seohyun," Mrs. Lee laughed. "Couples face a lot of different problems, sometimes the problems are the same with the other couples but sometimes they're different. It's not in what you faced but how you will face it together."

"Mom--?"

"Sssshhh, Seohyun. Do you hear that?" Mrs. Lee looked around, her brows furrowed.

Seohyun tilted her head in confusion. "Hear what, Mom?"

"Listen."

The first time I saw you it felt like a dream...

Seohyun closed her eyes and her ears perked after finally hearing something coming from outside. She could hear muffled sounds, music to be exact, and although Seohyun couldn't clearly hear all of the lyrics, she could make out some of it.

Because of your smile that is pretty like an angel...

Mrs. Lee looked as her daughter slowly got off the bed and walked towards the window, opening it slowly after seeing four guys playing musical instruments on their front lawn. Seohyun's eyes instantly searched for one of them and finally met eyes with Yonghwa, who was now singing directly at her.

There was an immediate skip in Seohyun's heart when their eyes met. Of course, Seohyun had visited a couple of times at the Star Castle Cafe when The Stupid would have their live sessions, but there was an added spark and effect when Yonghwa sang to her from below.

He's singing... only for me. She thought, placing a hand over her heart.

Mrs. Lee later joined her daughter, looking down at the boys and at Yonghwa with a smile. She placed a hand over her daughter's shoulder, "Honey, this is the time I was talking about... it's now all up to you."

Seohyun smiled at her mom and watched as she walked away, leaving her daughter alone in her room by the window. Yonghwa...

Seohyun, however, walked away from the window and closed it. Seeing the lack of response, Yonghwa's eyes filled with tears and Jonghyun looked at his friend with worry. Still, Yonghwa blinked back the tears and continued singing, not giving up the little hope he had left. The song was a chorus away from ending when the front door opened. A breeze slightly passed when Seohyun stepped out and walked down the porch, slowly making her way towards Yonghwa who was trying his best to finish the song they prepared.

Seohyun stopped in front of Yonghwa and smiled at him while he was singing the last parts of the song. When it had finally ended, Jonghyun silently took away Yonghwa's guitar for him and Onew took the cue for him to usher the boys into the house. Yonghwa and Seohyun were left alone outside and they stood facing each other for a while before Seohyun spoke first. "Yonghwa, I--"

"Seohyun, please, let me explain first?" Yonghwa stepped forward, taking both of her hands in his and giving them a little squeeze in the process. Seohyun sighed and then nodded. Yonghwa inhaled and prepared himself. "Seohyun please believe me when I tell you that I didn't kiss Shinhye noona."

Seohyun was about to say something but she bit her lower lip, remembering what her mom had told her upstairs.

"Noona kissed me, Seohyun, and I never liked what she did that day. I didn't like how she disregarded my continuous warnings to her that you are my girlfriend and not her anymore but she wouldn't listen to me. She had the chance and kissed me, taking me by surprise and that's when you got out from the dorm and saw us. I'm really sorry you had to see us in that situation, Seohyun, and I'm such a jerk not to have avoided that to happen. I could have stopped her but I was in too shock that I didn't know what to do. Believe me, Seohyun, I didn't respond to her kiss. I don't love her anymore, Seohyun. It's you who I'm in love with. Only you, Seohyun. Now and forever... and I don't care how cheesy that sounded because it's true. I really do love you, Seohyun."

Yonghwa got worried when Seohyun said nothing.

Seohyun looked calm and collected, but she couldn't keep herself from blushing and Yonghwa noticed her cute reaction. Slightly pinching her pink cheeks, Yonghwa smiled. "You're always cute when you're blushing."

That got her to giggle but after a while Seohyun sighed and Yonghwa dropped his hands, back to her owns hands, providing warmth for them amidst the cold night. Seohyun looked at Yonghwa, frowning. "Yonghwa... I'm sorry."

That caught him off guard. "Wh-What? Why?"

"Because I never gave you the chance to explain and talk to me." Seohyun's frown deepened. "Now that I know you're feelings during that... time that happened with unnie, I feel like I've been a really unfair girl friend to you. I'm sorry for not giving you the benefit of the doubt, for not trusting you enough and for not believing in you. I honestly felt my heart break but now that I know what truly happened, I feel useless and... bad."

Yonghwa chuckled and squeezed her hands again. "Seohyun, you're never an unfair girlfriend nor are you useless and bad. You're never like what you said, okay? Stop putting yourself down because how you reacted was really okay. Even though it took us a long time to talk again, it made me realize how you would react to things that are senstitive especially in our relationship. I will never ever let my guard down again because I am already aware that it would impact us this much. Both of us had learned a lot from this and I am confident that it will be one of the things that will strengthen our bond now and in the future."

"Yonghwa..." Seohyun's eyes brimmed with tears but Yonghwa wiped them away with his thumb when they trickled down her soft cheeks. "Seohyun... I love you so much it would make me cry like a girl when I see you cry."

She laughed and buried her face into his chest, making Yonghwa chuckle and wrap his arms around her. "I love you, Seohyun."

Seohyun felt the vibrations from his chest and smiled up at him, hugging him back. "I love you, too, Yong... I'm sorry--"

"Ssshhhh," Yonghwa gently placed a finger over her lips to silence her. "Stop saying you're sorry, okay? We're both okay now and that's what really matters."

Seohyun hugged him again and then broke the hug to look up into his brown eyes. "Jung Yonghwa... what about Shinhye unnie?"

"We'll figure out a way to make her see we're an unbreakable couple."

They smiled at each other and just stared into each other's eyes.

Yonghwa held Seohyun's chin and slowly leaned in. Seohyun stiffened at what was about to happen; she stopped Yonghwa, placing both of her hands on his chest with a worried expression on her face. "Yong..?"

"Hm?"

"I... I haven't kissed before... and I'm not... experienced... and... I don't know how to..."

Yonghwa laughed and pulled her closer to him. "Relax, Seohyun... you have nothing to worry about at all."

I trust you, Yonghwa. When Yonghwa leaned in again, Seohyun found herself closing her eyes, waiting for it to happen. Their lips touched lightly and Seohyun felt like a thousand of butterflies were suddenly in her stomach. She felt Yonghwa's lips move and she followed, let

Chapter 59: I love how you write this story, authornim. I wasnt here yet on AFF when you finished writing this story the first time. So I was curious on the storyline & everything. I bet you must have put lots of effort in editing this story. I always think "editing" is a hard task because you have to make sure everything is better compared to the first one - so that readers will understand & can feel the story better. So well done to you, authornim. :)

I love this story as a whole. Really. It's cute. I always adore love stories between students. But my most favourite part is - specifically - the time when Yonghwa gave Seohyun the perfume he bought for her. I was all giddy when I read that part. It was so cute when he instantly ran away after he gave the perfume to Seohyun. That part really sticks in my mind until now. :)

Overall, I definitely love reading this story & I am so looking forward to your next Yongseo story. Thank you for this story, authornim. And all the best for the next one. Fighting! :)
