Chapter 5
I am Yonghwa's Tutor (NEW FINAL CHAPTER! COMPLETED EDITING)I am not the kind of girl
Who should be rudely barging in on a white veil occasion
And you are not the kind of boy
Who should be marrying the wrong girl
I sneak in and see your friends
And her snotty little family all dressed in pastel
And she is yelling at her bridesmaids
Somewhere back inside a room wearing a gown shaped like a pastry
This is surely not what you thought it would be
I lose myself in a daydream
Where I stand and say
Don't say yes, run away now
I'll meet you when you're out of the church at the backdoor
Don't wait, or say a single vow you need to hear me out
And they said: Speak now!
When Seohyun was done singing, she blushed and looked at Yonghwa. "It's the only song I learned with the guitar. Was it okay?"
You were very good, Seohyun. You never fail to amaze me, you have a lot of hidden cards in you but of course... teasing you is fun. Yonghwa smirked. "Because I couldn't understand a word you sang... I'd say you're performance was just below par."
Seohyun blinked her eyes in disbelief. "Below par?"
"Yeah, you heard me." Yonghwa crossed his arms and leaned in closer. "Below par."
"Okay, then." Seohyun stood up and handed the guitar back to Yonghwa. "Now I really need my oppa. I can't wait for him to come back and teach me the guitar again. She went to her bed and opened her bag, looking for something.
I can teach you, you know. While you're oppa isn't here yet.
"What?" Seohyun turned around and looked at the stunned Yonghwa.
Crap! Did I just say that out loud? Yonghwa's eyes rounded and he panicked. "I... uhhh--"
"Don't worry, Yonghwa." She smiled. "I heard what you said and....why not? Oppa won't be home in two weeks and I planned on playing a different song for him when he gets home, anyway."
"Oh, okay." Yonghwa nodded and acted nonchalant but deep inside he was screaming in joy. "When do we start?"
"After the tutorial, of course." Seohyun said matter-of-factly and gathered the used plates and glasses on the tray. "Work on your paper again while I take the tray back to umma."
(after the tutorial)
"Okay, now G... good, then go to B minor... nice." Yonghwa clapped his hands and smiled at Seohyun. "It's good that you can still identify your chords."
"Of course I can still remember them, my oppa taught me after all." Seohyun grinned and strummed the B minor chord once more.
You really love your oppa, huh? Yonghwa smiled and instructed her to try the G# chord.
"Oh no, how do I do it again?" Seohyun whispered, trying to remember where her fingers were supposed to be placed.
"Need help?" Yonghwa guessed, she nodded. He stood up and positioned himself behind Seohyun, then without saying anything, Yonghwa held her fingers and aided them to the G# chord's place. "Now strum it."
He instructed Seohyun but it came out as a soft whisper to her left ear. She stiffened at how close they currently are and on the level of skinship but then relaxed. He's just teaching you, Seohyun. Oppa taught you, too, so what difference would it make with Yonghwa? Just concentrate, this is for your oppa. Seohyun strummed the six strings using her pink guitar pick but the sound came a bit off. Yonghwa stiffled a luagh and pressed Seohyun's left fingers to add more pressure on the strings. "Again."
Seohyun gulped and strummed the strings once more.
"Better." Yonghwa whispered said before standing up and going back to his seat. "Just practice these chords and I'll pick a song for you. The song I want you to sing for your brother."
She nodded and practiced the chords she knew. Yonghwa's eyes darted to the objects around the room. Keroro bedside table clock, tidy pink bed, large wooden closet. I wonder if Narnia is in there, haha. Keroro plushies, a bundle of colored envelopes... a bundle of colored envelopes? Hmmm...I wonder what those are. Yonghwa glanced at Seohyun. Seeing that she's so absorbed with the guitar, he stood up and slowly went to the wooden books cabinet, where a bundle of colored envelopes were waiting for him placed.
______________________
Dear Yonghwa-ssi,
From the first time I met you, I was furious because you made fun of me in public. I am the daughter of the Academy Disciplinarian so it's right if I stick to the rules and obey them, you should too, since you're a student in the school. I didn't know why but I kinda feel my heart beating faster than normal everytime I see you. I think you left a great impact on me (and my heart) and I want to tell you this through a letter.
Jung Yonghwa... I think I'm in love with you.
Yours truly,
Seohyun
Sigh. If only it was what the letter contained. Yonghwa grinned at himself and gathered the envelopes with his hands. He obviously made up the letter above in his head. Now he went back to his seat and waved the envelopes in fron of Seohyun's face. "Seohyun..."
She looked up from her guitar practice, raised her two brows and gave him a blank stare. Yonghwa batted his eyelashes like a little kid and pouted playfully. "What are these, Seohyun-ah...?"
Sigh. Fine, I'll let you call me that since I don't want to bicker with you right now. Seohyun maintained her blank stare at him. "Those are scented and colored envelopes."
Yonghwa dramatically rolled his eyes. "Well, duh!"
Seohyun giggled. "They're love letters. Read them if you are really dying to know."
"Really?" Yonghwa's jaw dropped. "Just like that? No bickering? No 'No, Yonghwa.'? You'll let me read them?"
She simply nodded. "Yes.'
Yonghwa grinned and opened the pink envelope on top of the thick bundle. Of course he knew they were love letters but he played the dumb role to see Seohyun's reaction. Wow... she acts like it's no big deal. Does she always receive love letters? Yonghwa frowned after reading skimming through 4 letters. Wait. Why are the handwritings the same? "They're from the same person!"
"Well duh." Seohyun giggled, copying his words earlier. Yonghwa rolled his eyes and tried to hold back his smile. She's such a fail, epic fail, but she's cute when she's an epic fail. "Do you know who he is?"
Seohyun shook her head and placed the guitar on the floor. She crossed her arms then rested them on the study table, her body leaning a bit forward. "Why?"
"Nothing, just curious." Yonghwa shrugged. "But he's kind of... slow."
"Huh? Why would you say that"
"Because..." he copied Seohyun's current position. Because I'll be the first one to steal your heart...
"Because what?" Seohyun blinked.
"Has he confessed to you in person?" He asked, not answering her question. Please say no, please say no, please say no... please..
Seohyun thought about it but shook her head. "I don't think he has confessed, yet."
"You're saying that as if you get confessions a lot." Yonghwa smirked.
Surprisingly she nodded her head. "Actually, I got confessed to by some schoolmates. There were two hoobaes and three sunbaes but of course I said no..."
"...." Yonghwa was totally caught off guard. Seohyun arched a brow. "What? Just because I'm not interested in dating doesn't mean I don't get confessions, you know."
Yonghwa grinned. "So you're saying that you had only 5 confessions ever in your whole life?"
She innocently nodded. "Why? You're saying that as if I'm weird or something."
"No, no. Not at all." Yonghwa waved his two hands defensively and shook his head. "It's just that it's a small number." Only 5? Wow... the boys in our school sure are weird... and slow... or maybe they're just afraid to confess to her since she's the daughter of the Academy Disciplinarian.
"Small number? To you, maybe." Seohyun narrowed her eyes at him.
Yonghwa placed a smug smile and proudly held out his 10 fingers to her. "Count my fingers."
"10."
"If you add 10 more pairs of hands, the total number of fingers is the total number of times I have been confessed to."
Seohyun rolled her eyes. "You're exaggerating."
"It's true." Yonghwa smirked an rested his thumb and index fingers under his chin. "Hmm... truthfully I had 32."
"32?!" Seohyun's eyes went wide in disbelief. "That's... that's impossible!"
He shook his head. "No, it's not impossible when you're the lead singer and leader of The Stupid. Not to mention handsome, too."
Seohyun raised her brow and folded her arms. "You're not lying, are you?"
"Nope."
"Okay, if you say so." She rested her arms on the table as Yonghwa picked up the guitar and played some acoustic guitar song. He wanted to ask Seohyun something but he was hesited. After a few moments of hesitation, he finally decided to ask her.
"Seohyun-ah."
"Hm?" Seohyun was just observing at him playing the guitar.
"With the letters that guy have been sending you... do you think you would fall for him?"
She tilted her head and thought about it. "I... think might fall for him..."
Something inside Yonghwa flared but he remained the cool face. "Why?"
"I like the fact that he isn't pressuring me into accepting him now. He is patient and he wrote that he'll wait until I can finally feel that it's time for me to date. If I only base things about him from the letters, I think he's mature and I don't think he's a bad guy at all. I like good guys."
"But he hasn't revealed who he is yet," Yonghwa's brows furrowed. "You shouldn't fall for someone you don't know and you haven't met, yet."
"I know, but the fact that he's not rushing things to me... I appreciate it." Seohyun smiled. "Maybe he's just a shy person, if he wasn't then he should've revealed himself to me days ago."
Seohyun laughed it off innocently that she didn't see Yonghwa's reaction to her words. He stopped strumming the guitar and his grip on the guitar's neck got tighter. Don't fall for him, Seohyun! You talk like you've already fallen for him; a slow and stupid guy who doesn't have the guts to confess to you in person!
Yonghwa placed the guitar on the floor and slammed his palms on the table, which grabbed Seohyun's attention. She looked stunned at his unexpected action that she wasn't able to speak. Then Yonghwa made a face, stood up and folded his arms childishly.
Seohyun laughed at how childish Yonghwa suddenly acted. "HAHA! YONG CHODING!"
Yonghwa turned his head a bit, smiling. "You gave me a nickname?"
She covered . It just came out. Why did I call him that? Should I even give him a nickname? I'm just his tutor but my tutee acts like a little kid. "I just think you're too childish. Don't jump to conclusions, Yonghwa, and finish your assignment."
He couldn't believe his ears. I showed her that I'm jealous of her attachment and attraction to the trait of the sender of the letter, she called me choding but now she made me finish my assignment? Unbelieveable... Lee Seohyun, cracking your shell is really hard...
The next few days in school went by its normal pace. Assignments, school projects and the letters which Seohyun received from the last few days went by normally, too. Yonghwa had shown her 25% of progress in English, and she had prepared a new song to perform for her one and only oppa. I'm so excited now that's he's coming back home tomorrow! Yes, my only older brother and partner in crime is coming home tomorrow.
When last period ended, Seohyun asked permission from her mother to
