"Father father!" Yelled Taehyung as he ran to find Taeyong. "Hm?" Asked Taeyong as he turned to Taehyung. "Can you tell us a story?" Asked Taehyung. "What story do you want to hear?" Asked Taeyong. "The first guard!" Said Taehyung. Jin came over, nodding in agreement. "I told you about them though," said Taeyong as he tilted his head to the side. "No not those guards," said Taehyung. "I want to hear about the King's guard!" He said. "Ah, them," said Taeyong. "I don't have much information about them, but maybe Doyoung can help me tell this story," said Taeyong. "Yeah, I can help," said Doyoung as he came into the room. "So it started out like this..." He started.

Hai! Author-nim here with one last prequel to a series I thought would remain a trilogy. Yes, this is a prequel, the story of the very first guard. Sungjin and the rest of Day6 are members of the King's guard but the others were sent to the 4 corners of the kingdom while Sungjin was left to the Capitol because he had started a family. Not to reveal too much on the story before we get to the characters so here we go~!
 

Characters:

The King's Guard:

Sungjin: A loyal member of the King's guard. He was a musician before his mandatory military service and played the guitar. He turned in his guitar for a sword, quickly becoming one of the best swordsmen in the capitol, his skills being used to train the later generations of the guards. He started a family, having two kids, Chanyeol and Jongdae. They were infants the time the civil war started, and they were left in the care of Sungjin's younger brother Joshua when Sungjin was sent out to gather the other members of the guard. His childhood best friends are Brian and Jae.

Brian/Young K: An orb user who's element is lightning and his god is a black panther named Chen. He is most well known outside of the capitol as Young K, but the other members of the guard all call him Brian. He controls the Southern outpost, and was able to stop the civil war from reaching the southern corner of the kingdom quickly thanks to his quick thinking. He is a well known strategist, his quick thinking and Chen's ability to see the things happening before they do so he was able to plan out something to counter the attack before it even happened. His childhood best friends are Sungjin and Jae.

Wonpil: A shapeshifter who controls the western side of the kingdom. He leads a pack of other shapeshifters, being a jack of all trades when it comes to using anything due to how he grew up. He is the only shapeshifter who controls an orb with his element being frost and his god is a polar bear named Xiumin. His animal form is a polar bear, having had chose this form because his god is a polar bear.

Jae: An assassin who controls the eastern side of the kingdom. He came from the capitol, but was sent to the eastern borders to keep an eye on things and work as a mercenary. He hasn't been back to the capitol in years, being one of the first people to be sent out. He is childhood best friends with Brian and Sungjin, being the oldest of the 3 of them. He sends letters back to the capitol and the southern outpost to talk to Sungjin and Brian. He occasionally visits the southern outpost to see Brian but he never goes to the capitol anymore due to not getting any work in the capitol. He has the most trouble with the civil war in the east, having it just be him in the east. He handles it well, but he needs help.

Dowoon: An archer who controls the northern part of the kingdom. Out of the four sides of the kingdom, the northern part seems the most peaceful. He is the youngest in the guard, but he proves himself as one of the best sharpshooters in the kingdom with his Golden Retriever dog Junhyuk. The only reason why it's more peaceful in the north than anywhere else is because no one wants to cross Dowoon's sights.
 

The Queen's Guard:

Sungcheol: The leader and a jack of all trades when it comes to using weapons. He was the first person to be personally selected by the Queen to be a member of her personal guard. He is in good relations with Sungjin and Jae from the King's guard.

Jeonghan: A swordsman who's skills with a sword is on par with Sungjin's. He was the second person to be personally selected by the Queen to be a member of her personal guard.

Joshua: An orb user who controls the element of fire and his god is a dragon named Kris. He is Sungjin's younger brother and was home when the king had been assassinated. He was helping taking care of Chanyeol and Jongdae, who was sick at the time while Sungjin was doing errands around the house. He was the third person to be selected by the Queen to be in her personal guard.

Mingyu: A shapeshifting assassin who was a part of Wonpil's pack before Wonpil went west to take control of the western side of the kingdom. His animal form is a black panther. He was the fourth person in the guard to be chosen by the Queen to be in her personal guard.

Chan/Dino: An archer who is trying to make his sharpshooting skills as good as Dowoon's. He has a German Shepherd dog named Hoshi and goes hunting every couple weeks to provide food for the other members of the guard. He is known outside of the guard as Dino but the other members of the guard call him by his birth name, Chan. He is the 5th and final person to be chosen by the Queen to be in her personal guard.
