Chapter 9

Thank you, Santa! (A Yunho Christmas Story)

"Here.  Are you gonna write your wish to Santa now?"  He guessed.

"Neh.  But please send my letter to Santa.  And don't tell Appa!"  She pleaded again and started to write, using a board she found as a table.

"You want ME to send your letter to Santa?  But why?"  He asked, puzzled.  He waited for a couple of minutes before she answered him.

"I'll write two letters.  One, you send.  The other, Appa will send.  They're different wishes."  She explained.  "Yey!  I'm done!"  She passed her letter to him.  Without meaning to, Jaejoong accidentally read what she wrote and he let out a loud, loud laugh.

"AHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!  Okay, okay!  I get it, I get it, Jiyool.  Ah, my angel is really smart."  Jaejoong praised and Jiyool smiled smugly.  He shook his head with a smile and drove off towards the Jung residence again.

"We're here."  Jaejoong announced as he parked his car.  He took her belongings and the extra food that he cooked for Jiyool,  then helped Jiyool out of her seatbelt and carried her towards the house.

"Uncle Joongie, why does everybody carry me?  I can walk."  She asked but she was clinging on to Jaejoong like a koala.  Jaejoong laughed.  How could he tell her that he loved the feeling of a child's arms around his neck?  Particularly Jiyool's.

"Hm, coz you are our princess."  He replied and kissed her cheek.  She smiled, happy to know that they like her.  He buzzed on their doorbell and a few seconds later, Yunho opened it.

"BABY!"  He greeted happily and let the two inside.  Oh, how he missed his only child.

"Appa!!  Appa!!"  Jiyool ran up to her father's arms as soon as her Uncle Jaejoong put her down in the living room while Yunho closed the door.

"Hello, my little angel!  Did you have fun at Uncle Jaejoong's house?"  He asked as he kissed his daughter's temple and hugged her tight.  He then turned to Jaejoong to ask him about how the day went but Jiyool didn't let him.  She grabbed his face with her hands and made him to look at her.

"Neh, Appa.  Appa!!  Appa!!  Appa!!  Appa!!  Listen!  I now know what gift I'd want from Santa Claus!!  Right, Uncle Jaejoong???"  She asked Jaejoong with a mischievous smile on her face and burst into giggles.

"Really?"  Yunho finally was able to turn to look at Jaejoong and raised a brow.  "How come I don't know what it is?"  He couldn't help but ask with gritted teeth.  He could clearly remember telling Jaejoong to let him know as soon as possible once he knew what she wanted from Santa so that he could buy it already for her while he was at the mall.

"Of course, you wouldn't know what it is, Appa....  I still have to write my letter to Santa."  Jiyool answered innocently.

"Well, you heard the angel.  I'm telling you, Jung.  She's smart."  Jaejoong smirked while shrugging his shoulders.  "Oh, look at the time.  I have to go now.  Bye Yunho.  Bye, my little angel."  He crouched down and Jiyool wriggled out of her father's arms and hugged Jaejoong.

"Bye Uncle!  Thank you!  Don't forget to send my letter to Santa, okay?"  She whispered the last sentence and she felt him nod his head.

"Bye, hyung.  Thanks for taking care of MY Jiyool."  He emphasized the word MY as he already felt his possessiveness of his daughter kicking in.  Jiyool then went back to him and grasped his hand.

"No problem, Yunho.  As long as it's for MY little angel."  Jaejoong retorted and they both chuckled.  They all waved and Jaejoong left.

"So, are you ready to write your letter to Santa now?"  Yunho asked after changing her to more comfortable clothes.

"Neh, Appa!!"  She exclaimed excitedly.  She couldn't wait to write Santa her another wish.

I just hope Santa can grant my two wishes.  I think I've been a good girl...BUT!  I made Appa worry last time... Eottokhe??

Noticing her worried expression, Yunho smiled.

"It's okay, baby.  I'm sure Santa can give you anything you want.  I say, you've been a good girl."  He comforted his young one and tapped her cute nose.

"Really Appa?  But I made you worry at the mall...."  She said sadly as she looked back at what she did.

If only I didn't want to see the drums....

"Eeeeiiiiii, I'm sure Santa knows how truly sorry you are.  And you wouldn't do it ever again, right?"  He smiled at her, trying to cheer her up.

"Yes, Appa...  But still...  Okay..."  She bit her lip.  But she knew she had to try.  It wouldn't hurt to try.

"Aaaish, don't worry baby.  Now come on."  He led her to the table on the floor and gave her a pencil and a paper.

"Appa, can I also use crayons?"  She asked.  She wanted to make her letter really pretty so that maybe Santa can really forgive her mistakes and grant both wishes.  She really wanted to be on the NICE LIST.

"Sure baby.  No... It's okay, I'll get it.  You can go start writing now."  He said when Jiyool started to stand up to get her crayons.  He totally supported Jiyool in her arts and crafts.  He was so glad Jiyool didn't take after his drawing skills.  Instead, she could draw very beautiful pictures and create really pretty designs despite her very very young age.

He returned and Jiyool was almost done in her letter.  He also took her colored pens and gave it to her.  He watched her lovingly as she carefully started on her drawing of Santa.  It took about an hour before Yunho recognized her expression when she was almost finished with something.  A few minutes more and she clapped her hands.

"I'm done, APPA!"  She exclaimed happily, very satisfied with what she wrote and drew.

"May I see?"  He asked.

"Neh, Appa!"  She replied and passed him the two sheets of paper.  One with the letter written on it and one with her drawing of Santa on it.  "Careful, Appa!"  She reminded.

Yunho carefully took the papers and his eyes widened, clearly impressed with Jiyool as his eyes marveled at her drawing.  WIthout meaning to, his attention was focused first on the drawing rather on her letter.

"J-jiyool, you made this?!"  He asked.  He knew he had been watching her the whole time but still...he couldn't believe how much Jiyool had improved with her drawings.

"Appa!"  She stood up and started to point at the stars on the left side.  "Look Appa, these five stars are you, Uncle Jaejoong, Uncle Junsu, Uncle Minmin and Uncle Chun..  Then the four stars on right ..."  She then pointed to the right side of Santa, "...are me, Yoojin Oppa, Aunt Yayo and Aunt Aejae."  She explained.  She knew her Appa and Uncles had five stars as their logo in their office.

Yunho's heart surged with pride he felt for Jiyool.

"Then, what about the moon?"  He asked.

"The moon?  Well, that's Omma."  She answered with a smile.  Yunho's tried to control his tears but he couldn't contain his emotions anymore.  Jiyool remembered to include her Omma.  He tried to swallow his sob that was threating to escape his mouth.  Two streams of tears started to fall.  He was just so proud of Jiyool.  His love for Jiyool was overflowing, it could reach the heavens and beyond as of the moment.

"OMO!  Appa, are you crying?"  Jiyool asked as she saw the tears on her Appa's face.  She wanted to cry now as well because she made her Appa cry.  Now she was so sure Santa wouldn't grant her wish anymore.  "I'm sorry...."  She whispered, her lower lip starting to tremble.

Yunho immediately noticed it and carefully placed the papers on the table and cupped her face.

"No, baby.  There's nothing to be sorry for. You just made me really happy right now that I couldn't help but cry.  I'm so proud of you, Jiyool.  I love you.  Thank you for making me this happy."  He said and hugged her tightly and kissed the top of her head.

"You're not sad, Appa?"  She asked and rested her chin on his chest.

"No, baby.  I'm very happy!  You're so good in drawing!"  He praised and wiped some of his tears away. "These are happy tears, Jiyool."  He assured her because she was still studying his face.  And then she beamed up at him, finally believing.

"You haven't read my letter yet, Appa."  She reminded him and stood up to give him her letter.

"Oh, yes. Silly Appa."  Yunho said and Jiyool giggled and sat beside him.  He started to read.

Dear Santa Claus,

How are you and Rudolf and Mrs. Claus and the elfs*?  I hope you are okay.

I'm JUNG JIYOOL and I'm 5 years old.  This is my 2nd time writing to you.

For a Christmas present, please give me

1 any book of Song Chel-ssi.

Thank you!

And please forgive me for always worrying Appa!

Merry Christmas to you, Rudolf and Mrs. Claus and the elfs*!!!!

Bye bye!

Take care!!

GOMAWO AND GOMAWO!!!

Love,

Jung JIYOOL :=^_^=:

Yunho grinned after reading her letter.  His Jiyool is really thoughtful.  Even mention Rudolph the reindeer, Mrs. Claus and the elves.  Even the sides of the paper had been carefully decorated by Jiyool with swirls and drawings of Christmas ornaments.  But who is Song Chel?  He had never heard of the name before.

"So whatchu think Appa?"  She asked with an expectant face.

"I'm sure Santa will love your letter.  It's very pretty and you even mentioned his family.  Very good, Jiyool!  I'm sure Santa will think of you as a nice girl because you apologized."  He praised and kissed her cheek.

"Really, Appa?"  She beamed up at him.

"Yes baby.  But wait, who's is Song Chel-ssi??"  He asked.  If Jiyool's smile could get any wider, it would have probably done so.

"Oh!  Appa!  She's an...."  She paused as she tried to remember what her Aunt Chel's job was.  "...AURTHOR*!!!  Yes, an aurthor* for children's books!"  She happily exclaimed after remembering what the word was.

"Ah baby, she's an AUTHOR?"  He tried to correct in a subtle way and Jiyool clasped in embarrassment.

"Oh, auuuthor.  Yes, Appa.  She's an auuuuthor."  Jiyool pronounced correctly.

"Very good, Jiyool!  Who taught you that word??"  He smiled and ruffled her hair.

"Oh..."  Jiyool didn't want him to know that it was Aunt Chel herself who told her about it...but at the same time, she didn't want to lie to him either.  "Uhm, I learned it at Uncle Joongie's house."  She replied, hoping that he wouldn't press the matter on.

"That's good!  It seems like you had fun at their house."  He commented.

"Yes!  I really had so much fun and I was so full because of Uncle Joongie's cooking....  And oh!  Yoojin oppa and Uncle Chun arrived and we played with crunchy leaves."  She narrated.

"Oh?  Crunchy leaves in winter?"  He asked, surprised.

"Neh, Appa!  There were crunchy leaves outside so we stepped on them and they went cccrrrrk cccrrrrk!"  She imitated the sound of the leaves as she reenacted the motion of stepping and Yunho laughed at his daughter's cuteness.

"Aigoo Jiyool!! What would I do without you?"  He gathered her in his arms and showered her in kisses.  Jiyool squealed in delight and laughed as well.  After that, Jiyool got up from his lap and handed him the papers.

"Appa, don't forget to send these, okay?"  She reminded and he nodded.

"Yes, baby.  In fact, I'll go get an envelope now."  He said and did so, with Jiyool happily trailing behind him.
