Silently Caring For Each Other
Pretending Not To LoveNo One’s POV:
When Joo Eun got back home after her trip with Mijin, she was expecting to see just her brother, however, that was not the case.
“Ah, Joo Eun-ah, you’re back? How was your trip?” the other person asked while Joo Eun just stared blankly, a little taken aback.
“Eomma? When did you come? Where is appa?” she quickly glanced around while her mother walked up to her and took her in an embrace.
“He had some last minute business deal to take care of and so he couldn’t make it here with me. He will come after closing the deal.” Hearing that, there was a mild relief in her face which didn’t go unnoticed by James, who was just staring at his mother and sister hugging each other.
They then sat down and had some chat, catching up with each other’s life since the last time they saw each other. In fact, her mother knew most of the things that happened to her.
A few more days passed by, and Joo Eun was more than happy with their mother staying over as their mother took care of every work like house chores and so on, which left her with too much time in her hand and the funny part being, this made Jiwoong lot happier than Joo Eun herself as he got to spend more time with her.
One day, Joo Eun was lazing on the couch while her mother was preparing some food for James’ friends who were coming over. “James, are you okay with this? Should I go and stay over at my friend’s place tonight?” she asked him.
“They are not from our college. So it’s up to you.” He shrugged his shoulders, leaving the decision in her hand.
“What if his friends from your college? Why would you have to stay out because of that? Is something going on between you two that you are hiding from me?” their mother asked, as she came out of the kitchen.
Joo Eun and James got flustered a little and exchanged glances before she quickly spoke up, “Nothing’s going on, eomma. We just decided not to let his colleagues know that I’m his sister to avoid getting any special treatment.” She said, trying to sound as honest as possible while he just avoided staring at his mother as she stared at the two of them, still a little doubtfully.
“Also eomma, you know if I’m not here, he could be more comfortable around his friends.” She let out an honest smile as she really meant it while their mom stared at her for a few seconds before her reasoning.
And before their mother could question them anymore, the doorbell rang and Joo Eun quickly dashed off to the door in order to escape from her mother’s scrutinizing eyes.
“Hello there, little one.” Moon waved at her as soon as she opened the door, displaying his captivating smile while even though she rolled her eyes at him, her cheeks flushed a little. “Have you been doing well?” he wrapped his arms around her shoulder and continued his teasing.
James cleared his throat from behind them as the two were blocking the entrance for the others to get in. “Hey James,” Moon waved at his buddy, without showing any intention to let go of Joo Eun any time soon. “Let’s move a little to the side, as we catch up. Looks like we are blocking the path.” He guided her to the side, with his mischievous smile still intact.
James just shook his head at his playful friend and welcomed the other guests into their house. A few guys and girls walked in, someone was kind of dragged in by others as he was hesitating a little.
“I’m sorry. Eomma invited him and I couldn’t stop her as I wasn’t sure if I’m allowed to tell her about you two.” James said in a low voice as Sooyoon stood at their entrance awkwardly.
“I don’t hate him, James. So don’t mind me. If it would make you all uncomfortable, then I can stay inside my room. No issue.” She replied, her eyes never leaving the man who was still standing there awkwardly.
“You are not going anywhere. I won’t let you to. So just stay.” Moon said. “Now shall we move in so that your lover boy can step in?” he whispered in her ears with a smirk while her head snapped in his direction.
But without responding to her look, he used guided her towards the kitchen where her mother was still preparing something. “Eomeoni,” he called out to her excitedly, finally letting go of her.
Grabbing this opportunity, she quickly made her way into her room and managed to stay in for the next few hours, using various excuses as Moon kept trying to bring her out. However, she had no choice but to come out when her mother called her out to join them for dinner.
When she was contemplating on where to sit, Moon tried getting her to sit between him and Sooyoon but her small moment of hesitation let one of the other girls sit there instead. So she just sat down on the other side of Moon.
“Eomeoni, when was the last time we got to taste your food? It has gotten even tastier than the last time.” One guy moaned savoring the food while the others agreed with him.
“Eomeoni jjang!” another commented.
“Aigoo! I’ve made more than enough. So everyone eat to your heart’s content.” Mrs. Lee cooed.
“James, we knew you had a sister and some of us have seen her when she was really small. But we never knew she has become this pretty now.” One of James’ friend commented.
“Bro! Shouldn’t it have been obvious? She is my sister, after all.” James shot them a proud look while she smiled shyly, feeling touched at her brother’s words.
“Joo Eun-sshi, do you have a boyfriend?” another guy suddenly asked, startling her.
“Yah! Are you hitting on my sister in front of me?”
“Was just asking,” the guy smiled sheepishly.
“Unless you have a death wish, stay away.” James put out a smile that sent them all chills.
“I’m here for her. Isn’t that right, Joo Eun?” Moon yet again while James just rolled his eyes at his craz
