A Trip To Camp
Pretending Not To LoveJoo Eun’s POV:
I really had good time with Sooyoon the entire day, with all that teasing we both did, the cooking and everything else. After we both were done with our dinner, Sooyoon took me back home.
I opened the door and got in, after waving goodbye to Sooyoon and was taken aback to come face-to-face with the walking giant, himself. I mean, my dear brother.
I just blinked at him blankly while he stared at me for a few minutes. “You didn’t come home last night.” He stated while my eyes widened hearing it.
“You knew?” I asked, almost whispering.
I never in my wildest dream have thought he keeps track of my presence in that house. I have always thought he never really cared whether I was in the house or not.
“And you didn’t come to college as well. Where were you? And where’s your phone?” he asked, crossing his arms across his chest.
I continued to stare at him blankly for a few more minutes before I replied, “Um, I was at my friend’s place. It got late last night. So I didn’t want to come home in the dark.”
“All of that is okay but why didn’t you answer your phone?” he asked.
I was still in utter shock as this was the longest he has ever spoken to me in the past few years. As if that wasn’t enough, all his questions made me feel that he was worried about me.
A small smile escaped my lips as I retrieved my phone from my shorts' pocket. “I didn’t realize it got switched off.” I said while showing him the now dead phone. “I forgot to charge it.”
He slowly nodded his head. “Our mother called. I didn’t know what to tell her. From next time, let me know if you are staying out.” He said as he observed the shirt I was wearing.
I was still wearing Sooyoon’s shirt and by the look I was receiving from James, I started to wonder if he recognized it since Sooyoon was also from the music department.
After staring at it for a while, he just left without saying another word while I walked up to my room, flopped down on my bed and stared at the ceiling.
‘So he wasn’t worried about my absence. He was like that because our mother ended up calling him.’ I sighed after I realized I was happy for no reason.
No One’s POV:
A few months passed by, in which Joo Eun and Sooyoon got really close with each other. Close to the extent that both of them slowly developed feelings for the other. But neither of them was aware of the other’s feelings.
At least Sooyoon had a hunch, especially from how she reacted with his teasing here and there. However, he still always maintained his cool self around her except for the times he gets drunk and shows up at her doorstep.
Her house has become like a second home to him that he either ends up knocking on her door or she gets called over to the bar to pick him up.
But either way, Sooyoon turns into a new person when he's totally drunk. He becomes a cute teddy bear, always clinging onto Joo Eun especially if another male species is somewhere in close proximity to them.
Meanwhile, Ji Woong and Joo Eun had a strange friendship. They were never friendly whenever they were in college but as soon as they stepped out in the evening, Ji Woong would always accompany her home. Though she found it weird, she never really bothered to ask him about it.
One fine day, Moon walked into the classroom. “Guys, I’m here to make an announcement.” He said, trying to gain everyone’s attention. “We would be going to a camp next week.” Everyone cheered while he tried to make them all listen to him once again. “I need you all to pick a chit which tells you which group you would be in. And the people with the same number would be in the same group.”
“Can’t we choose our group on our own?” someone from the students asked him.
“It would not be fair otherwise. So let’s pick the chits, okay?” Moon went around the classroom, making the students pick a chit from the box he was holding. When he was done with the last student, he walked up to the front. “Now who all have got one?” three students raised their hands. “You would be in group 1. Now two?” he kept announcing the group numbers while taking down their names.
When the final group was called out, it was just 2 students this time and Ji Woong was one among those two. When Moon was just about to write down their names, the other girl in the group called out to him, “Moon, I cannot be in this group if it’s going to be just me and him.” She pointed to Ji Woong. “Can’t I change to another group?”
“Um, that would be difficult. If I change yours, then I might have to change the others as well. So
