Jealousy
Pretending Not To LoveNo One’s POV:
Joo Eun was confused for a moment when she realized that she hasn’t received any calls or messages from Sooyoon for nearly the entire day. More than that, she was a bit worried too. So she decided to check up on him.
However, she didn’t get any answer when she rang his apartment’s bell. And when she asked the security guard, it didn’t look like he has gone out. So she decided to enter his pin and check inside his apartment herself.
“Sooyoon-ah, I’m coming in.” she called out as she removed her shoes and made her way in. “Sooyoon-ah, are you in there?” she asked, knocking on his bedroom door.
After a few minutes of dead silence, she heard a faint groan coming from the inside of his room. “I’m coming in.” she called out once again and slid down the handle to open the door. The room was dark and when she the lights, her eyes fell on him lying on his bed, all bundled up and her eyes got clouded with worry.
She quickly hurried over to him, “Yah, are you alright?” she asked as she sat down beside him and tried getting him out of his comforter. “Yah, you are burning up with fever. Why didn’t you give me a call? And where’s your medicine kit?” she asked while he tried to point in the direction.
“Ah, I remember now. I will be back,” she said and rushed out to retrieve the medicine kit. She came back a few seconds later and dug out the thermometer before measuring his temperature.
“OMO! We have to get you to the hospital.” She yelled, after reading the temperature measured.
“Joo Eun-ah, I have taken some medicines already.” Sooyoon said in a low voice.
“When did you take them?”
“Doesn’t matter when you are still burning up like that. Not gonna take a chance. I’m taking you to the hospital.” She helped him get up and tried to get him to walk but he lost his balance within two or three steps and she couldn’t support him properly.
She let out a sigh as she took out her phone and dialed someone and a moment later, he heard cursing all of a sudden. He wanted to ask what was wrong but he didn’t really have the strength to do so. “Why today of all day?” she yelled as she ran her hand through her hair frustratingly.
Suddenly her eyes gained a happy glint with a mix of relief, “Give me a minute,” she patted his head and headed out to the living room while he just followed her movement with his eyes. She sounded like she was speaking to someone but he couldn’t hear her properly.
“Jiwoong-ah?” she called out his name as soon as the person answered her call.
“What’s wrong?” he asked straightaway, after listening to her tone.
“Are you still at your father’s place?”
“Yes I am. Trapped in here until Monday in the least. What’s up? Is everything alright?”
“Um,” she hesitated for a moment but he made her speak up in the end.
“That’s all, right? Not an issue. I can borrow one of dad’s cars. I will leave right away and meet you in front of your apartment.”
“Um, about that, Sooyoon actually doesn’t live there.”
“What? Then where does he live?” she gave him Sooyoon’s address and Jiwoong informed her that he will give her a call when he reaches his apartment before disconnecting the call.
A moment later, she walked back to the room with a bowl in hand, rummaged through his wardrobe and took out some small towels before going to the bathroom and filling the bowl with water.
“What happened?” Sooyoon asked as she sat down beside him and wiped off his sweat before dipping another towel in the water and placing them on his forehead.
“I’m sorry about all that cursing,” she gave him an apologetic look, “I called for a taxi and apparently, the taxi drivers have gone on a strike since this evening. So I was just worried that I wouldn’t be able to take you to the hospital.” She gave him a small smile while her eyes pooled on.
“It’s okay. I’m alright.” He whispered, reaching for her hand.
“I have got us a ride.” She smiled at him and patted his hand that was holding hers while he just stared at her. “I asked Jiwoong to give us a ride.” She answered hesitatingly while he continued to simply stare.
She avoided looking at him straight in his eyes as she said, “I’m sorry about that. I didn’t have a choice. I couldn’t let you be like this. But he won’t tell anyone about where you live.”
He just nodded his head to let her know it was alright. She was constantly wiping his sweat away while they waited for Jiwoong to come over. But something about Jiwoong getting there, triggered something in Sooyoon.
A few minutes later, Joo Eun
