Pretending Not To LoveA/N sorry for this annoying note right at the beginning. Just wanted to apologize for the long wait. Some things happened in life and so I couldn't get the idea to write the next chapter. I was basically stuck. And even now, I feel this chapter was just a filler. So kindly bear with me a little more. I'm sorry once again.
No One’s POV:
After Joo Eun got suspended from college, she headed home after that. James and Sooyoon was out of town and Jiwoong couldn’t go to college that day for some reason. So he only heard of the news, later in the evening and when he tried contacting her, she was out of reach.
He got paranoid about the lack of response and immediately ended up calling Moon to ask for her address, but the latter refused to give it to him. He also told Jiwoong that he would check with her guardian and get back to him, before he ended up calling James, who in turn requested Moon to check up on her as a favor while he made his way back to Seoul.
However, Moon still couldn’t find her whereabouts even after looking around her house. He felt she might be in her room since the door was locked but he didn’t receive any response when he knocked on the door. Luckily, James happened to make it back to the city quicker than expected.
After having her not respond to him either, James decided to unlock her room with the spare key and it was good that he did since they found her nearly unconscious in the bathtub.
Even though they have called for medical help, due to some circumstances, they said there might be a delay in getting to her and hence, they instructed the first aid to be given to her before they got there.
“James, the ambulance is on the way. But they said it might take them some time since the traffic is too high now. They asked us to remove her wet clothes and get her into a dry pair.”
James looked a little troubled hearing that while Moon continued, “I know this might sound crazy but you should let Sooyoon change her dress.”
James snapped his head towards Moon in the speed of light while he continued, “He’s her boyfriend, James.”
“What?” James glared at Sooyoon now.
“James, there’s no time to waste. Let him do it. If not, it’ll only make your sister’s condition worse.” Moon prompted, making James hand over his sister to Sooyoon’s hands hesitatingly.
Even though Sooyoon had little to no idea about what had happened, he was still dead worried about seeing her in her present condition and as he changed her wet dress to a new set of dry clothes, James was fuming in the bedroom, while waiting for the two to come out of the bathroom.
“What the heck? What kind of situation is this?” he paced around the room.
“James, calm down.” Moon tried.
“Calm down? What kind of brother could remain calm when he knows that his sister’s boyfriend is changing her clothes just behind that door?”
“James, the situation is different here. He’s just helping her.”
“This situation wouldn’t have happened in the first place, if it wasn’t for him.” James burst out.
“What do you mean?” Moon asked.
But James ignored his question as he continued venting his anger, “How dare he date my sister? How could he?”
“James! That’s not his fault entirely. It was you who never told us she was your sister. I knew of it because I’m her class coordinator and so, I had her family records.”
James calmed down a little hearing that, “Fine, I agree it’s my fault that you guys didn’t know she is my sister. But still, he knew she was a student. What the hell was he thinking? He could have got fired and she could have got expelled.”
His rambling got interrupted as the bathroom door opened and Sooyoon walked out with Joo Eun wrapped in his arms, tightly in blankets. James just stared at him as Sooyoon gently placed Joo Eun on her back on the bed and simply maneuvered around the room, finding things without any need for help.
“Have you been here before?” James asked, taken aback but Sooyoon silently worked on, making sure she was still conscious and breathing. “Are you that friend who slept over?”
But Sooyoon still maintained silence and before James could interrogate him more, the bell rang and the EMTs arrived. They transferred her to the stretcher and took her to the hospital with James accompanying her in the ambulance while the other two followed behind in the car.
“Thank God! You found her on time and gave her first-aid. There’s nothing to worry now. Let her get some rest.” Doctor informed James, as Joo Eun lay in the hospital bed with an oxygen mask and IV lines. “But we need to talk about something else.”
“I will be back,” James informed Moon and Sooyoon, the latter sitting beside her bed with her hand in his, and followed the doctor out.
“You are in love with her.” Moon stated. “Did you know she has a brother?” Sooyoon nodded, “But she never said who it was?” and Sooyoon shook his head while Moon just let out a sigh.
A few minutes later, James returned to the room after speaking with the doctor. Everyone remained silent for a while, before James spoke up, “Sooyoon, can I have a word with you?”
Sooyoon nodded and stood up, “Guys, stick with using just words please.” Moon said.
“Moon, could you please look after her until I get back?” James asked, ignoring his earlier sentence while Moon nodded and the other two just walked out.
They both went to a quieter place and neither of them spoke for a few minutes, before Sooyoon decided to break the silence, “I love her, James.”
James let out a sigh hearing that. “Of all people, why her? Why it has to be my sister?”
“James, I was not aware of it. If I knew she was your sister, I would have maintained a distance.”
“Yeah, Moon told me about it earlier. But you dated her even when you knew she was a student. W
