Sleep Talking
Pretending Not To LoveNo One’s POV:
After Jiwoong sent the selfie he took with Joo Eun to Sooyoon from her phone, she immediately received a call from the latter. At first, she didn’t answer the call but when he called again, Jiwoong pressed the answer button for her instead.
She still decided to maintain silence, however, Jiwoong had other plans up his sleeves. Eventually she was forced to reply to Sooyoon’s worried voice, “I’m alright, Sooyoon-ah.” She whispered.
“Good to know,” he said, letting out a sigh in relief. “Anyway, I saw the pic.”
“Um, about that,” she was flustered even though she knew from the start why he has called her. “I didn’t send it.”
“I know,” he replied softly and it was Joo Eun’s turn to sigh in relief. “What happened to you?”
“Um?” she was confused for a moment what he was asking about since her mind wasn’t entirely in peace yet.
“You are literally covered in bandages. What happened?”
“Ah that? Well, it’s nothing much. Just some minor burns. I’m alright now.”
“You never told me about the incident and the pic got me all worried. I nearly got myself there, you know?” He said the last part in a low tone.
“Really? Damn! Should I have told you that I’m in pain now? Is it too late to change my answers?” she mumbled under her breath, hoping he wouldn’t hear them but he clearly did as she heard him he letting out a chuckle. “I miss you,” she suddenly blurted out.
Sooyoon paused for a moment but let out a chuckle soon. “We just met over this weekend, I suppose?” he .
“I wasn’t telling you. I was speaking to Jiwoong,” she tried diverting the topic since she was starting to feel a little embarrassed.
“Yeah right! Speaking of him, is he there beside you?” Sooyoon suddenly asked, his playful tone slowly disappearing.
“Yeah, he’s close by. Why?”
“Could you pass over the phone to him?” but Joo Eun became silent, “Joo Eun-ah, are you still there?” he called out to her and she slowly responded, wondering what was happening. “Could you?” he asked once again with a more resolute voice.
“One second,” he heard her say before he heard her mumble something.
“Hello?” soon he heard Jiwoong speak.
“Hello, Jiwoong-sshi?” Sooyoon asked and when he received a response, he continued, “I assume you know who I am and seeing that Joo Eun is still unaware of it, I also assume you haven’t told her yet. But it doesn’t really matter. Anyway, if you are going to be her friend, I hope you stay well within your line and if you are going to do things that will hurt that kid, then I would prefer you to stay away from her." he paused for a moment to let the other process what he just told. "I'm not going to stay still if you end up hurting her. Hope I made myself clear. Now could you pass the phone back to her?”
He heard the phone being passed over and soon, Joo Eun spoke, “What did you talk to him about?”
“Nothing. Just stuffs. Anyway, I got to go now. But take care and stay safe, okay? Will talk to you later. Bye.”
After ending the call with Sooyoon, she decided to confront Jiwoong instead. “What did he tell you?” but he just shook his head with a huge smile. “Yah Jiwoong!” she shouted as he took off from there.
Jiwoong and Joo Eun roamed around the town for some more time and got back to the cottage in the late evening. As they both walked inside, laughing at some joke Jiwoong has just said, they saw Moon and James sitting on the couch and writing some reports.
As they walked past the common room, “Stop right there, young lady!” Moon called out to her.
Joo Eun stopped in her track and turned around slowly. She saw Moon get up from the couch and walk towards her while James sat there on the couch, staring at her.
“Is this the kind of rest I asked you to take?” Moon asked while she smiled at him sheepishly.
“I was just out for a little while to catch some fresh air. It was too suffocating to stay in here all the time.” She shrugged. “And it isn’t like I hurt my leg.”
“I know,” Moon sighed in defeat as he was not sure how to counter what she said. “I’m sorry. I was just worried.” He said while she smiled at him brightly, shaking her head to let him know that it was alright.
“I will head to my room then,” she smiled at him and was about to head to her room when she was stopped once again.
But it was James this time, “Did you have your dinner?” he asked softly.
“Um, not really.” She replied, hesitatingly.
“There’s dinner for two on the dining table. Reheat them once and it’s good to eat.” James said.
“Thank you,” she smiled at him widely.
While Jiwoong mumbled, “What’s with everyone working in this college? They all can care for her over the limit but why shouldn’t I?”
“Um, what did you say?” Joo Eun asked while looking at him, confused.
“Nothing,” he shook his head. “Let’s go and have the food. I’m starving.”
“Yah! Didn’t we both just eat something a while ago before heading back?” she asking, smacking the back of his head playfully.
Joo Eun reheated the food while Jiwoong took care of the plates and cutlery needed. “Wow! I didn’t know you were so nice.” Joo Eun as she placed the last bowl on the table, before grabbing a seat.
“I’m always this nice. At least to you,” he said, as he filled two glasses with water and grabbed a seat for himself.
“You should be like this to others as well, Jiwoong-ah. Why do you have to make people think you are a gangster when you are actually nice like this?”
“But I am a gangster,” he said.
“Yah! Stop joking.” She laughed before she stuffed with food.
‘If only you knew it’s a part of the truth, would you still be the same?’ he wondered, while staring at her.
“What are you staring at?” she asked, wiggling her eyebrows.
He immediately shook his head violently before diverting his attention
