First Day
Pretending Not To LoveNo One’s POV:
It was the first day of College. Lee Joo Eun woke up early in the morning, prepared breakfast for her brother and herself, before she got ready for her class. She was kind of forced to attend the same College where her brother works.
Well, not literally forced but from the Colleges she got admission in, her parents chose this one because they thought she wouldn’t be alone as her brother was there as well. What they didn’t know was that it’s been years since her brother and she last had a proper conversation.
They both were once very close but somewhere in the middle of their growing up, something happened and her brother just drifted away. Even though they both live in the same house, they haven’t really seen each other that many times.
When she wakes up in the morning, the first thing she always did was to check whether he was still in his room or had already left home. If it was the former, she will prepare the breakfast as soon as she could and keep them ready on the table before he leaves.
But if it was the latter case, then she would leisurely prepare them, then mostly hand it over to the security guard who would keep it in her brother’s office room. And for dinner, even though he comes home very late, she would still leave his share on the table.
However, their parents didn’t know any of that. So when she got an admission in the same College, they got thrilled and asked her to choose that one over the others while neither of them could refuse it as they both couldn’t tell their parents their reasons.
So here she was, getting ready for the College while he has already left though it was still very early. She got ready, packed some food for the both of them, before leaving home. When she got there, the staff’s lounge was empty. So she simply dropped off the packed food on his table and walked away in the direction of her class.
After checking her schedules and the room numbers, she walked up to her first class. A few of them were already in the class and being a bit of an introvert, she glanced around the room once and decided to sit in the front along with the people who looked quieter.
A few minutes would have passed by when a cute looking guy walked in with a bunch of books in his hands. “Hello everyone, welcome to the Royal College. I’m Kim Moonchul and I will be your class coordinator for your freshman year or maybe for the rest of your studies, who knows?” he winked at the students, especially at the girls which made them all swoon.
“If you have any questions or issues regarding your course or the College in general, feel free to drop by my office.”
He turned towards the board and wrote down the location of his office room and then gave a brief description of how to find it. “Anyway, Prof. Jung is on leave today. So your first lecture for the day is canceled. Any questions?”
When all of them remained silent, “Okay, then. Have a nice day.” He smiled at them once again and left the room while she continued to sit there staring at the door he just walked out of.
She just blanked out for a while until she suddenly realized that she had forgotten to leave the lunch box. She quickly stood up, packed her bag and rushed out of the room.
But before she exited the room, she bumped into someone. She looked up to find a tall, good-looking guy staring down at her. “I’m so sorry. I’m in a bit of a hurry. So I didn’t notice you there. I will be careful from next time. I’m sorry.” She slightly bowed to him a few times.
He looked at her once from head to toe and then said with a small smile. “It’s okay. I’m not hurt. And I believe you are not hurt either. Be a little more attentive in the future so you don’t hurt yourself or the others.”
She nodded her head, thanked him once again and took off in the direction of her brother’s department building. She walked up to his room and knocked on his door, hoping he wouldn’t be inside. And luck was on her side that day.
She silently opened the door, and peeped in to make sure he wasn’t there. Once she was sure that the room was empty, she walked in, placed the lunch box on top of his table and quickly walked out of the room.
She was walking down the corridor when she saw her brother on the opposite end, walking in her direction. She quickly took the immediate left turn and bumped into someone once again. ‘What a day!’ she sighed as she apologized to the person.
