“Good Morning Class, we have a new transfer student today. His name is Lee Sungmin.” The homeroom teacher of the most notorious class, class 3-1 of the entire SM high school said. Unlike what the image of the word 'notorious' usually portray, class 3-1 is not rowdy. Instead, the class is quiet and orderly. It is the atmosphere that kills, the eyes from the students that makes you feel that you are nothing but dirt if you are not in the top 1% of the social ladder.

The new transfer student is a beautiful teenager who bowed at his new classmates delightfully. “Annyeong! My name is Lee Sungmin. Please take care of me!”

“Aren't you the heir of the Lee logistics enterprise?” One of the boy sitting at the end row of the class shouted.

The newcomer blushed and nodded his head.

“Go take a seat.” The homeroom teacher, Mr Park gestured to Sungmin the empty seat at the middle row of the the class.

Sungmin brought his bag and sat down. Just then, he noticed that the boy sitting next to him is a nerdy looking boy in thick glasses. The latter looked small in his slightly oversized uniform and he was busy flipping his book, seemingly searching for the page where the teacher last stopped in the previous lesson.

The boy finally caught glimpse of his new partner and gave an awkward smile while pushing his sliding spectacles up his nose bridge. Sungmin gave him a smile back and extended his hand.

“Your name is?” Sungmin asked.

“Ryeowook, Kim Ryeowook.” His partner accepted his hand shake.

For the first lesson, it was mathematics, taught by Mr Park. Sungmin could not help but realise the exceptionally quiet boy seated at the far left corner of the classroom. Mr Park would occasionally pause to look at that boy, as if waiting for permision to continue.

15 minutes before the end of the lesson, the quiet boy stood up and left the class, following him behind, 3 other boys including the one who recognised Sungmin at the Lee enterprise heir earlier.

“Erm.... I guess it's lunch time. I will stop the lesson.” Mr Park said as his eyes followed the boys walking out of the classroom.

Sungmin was surprised that the teacher did not kick a fuss at those rude boys. Just as every company needs a boss, every school needs a bully or what the youngsters call, Jjang. It is no different in SM high school, the elite school of Korea.

“This is how this school works.” Ryeowook whispered to Sungmin.
