Perfect ProtectionTaehyung was still not home when I checked his apartment for the nth time. It was almost midnight. Would that mean I wouldn't be able to see him at all today? My longing feeling for him was incurable. I had been used to be with him all day everyday, not even missing a single day. It felt really strange when I didn't see him for only a day. I missed him badly. I lurked in front of his apartment for a long time before I decided to give up and go back home.
I took a warm shower to clear my mind from the thoughts of him. It worked when it started making me feel sleepy. The warmth it offered caused the desire to climb on my bed and tuck myself in. I changed into my sleepwear - a pink bunny pajama Inspector Kim had given me and I discovered that his taste for women clothing was the worst - and went straight to my bedroom.
I was drying my wet hair with a towel when I caught Baekhyun in the footage that was channeled to my laptop. He was fully dressed up, wearing coat and boots. Was he going somewhere? The second he went out of his apartment, I instantly dashed out to chase him. Taehyung wasn't here so Baekhyun's safety was entirely my responsibility.
"Baekhyun, wait!" I shouted as I opened my door. "I'm coming with you!"
Baekhyun was there, still standing by his doorway. He looked at me in bewilderment as if I was a weirdo. His puzzled look made me even more perplexed. Was there something wrong with me as his protector to follow him out?
"What's wrong?" I asked in a complete daze.
"You're not coming with me," he said.
I protested, "Why not?"
"Not when you dressed up like that." He pointed at my clothes with his eyes.
I followed his eyes and looked down at my outfit. Realizing how hideous I looked like, I mentally slapped myself. I was still in my pink bunny pajama with matching pink bunny slippers and my hair was drenched in water, drops of it dripping down, wetting my clothes. I almost cursed at Inspector Kim for giving me this horrific sleepwear when it wasn't his fault at all that I was caught in this shameful situation.
I closed my eyes for a while to suppress my embarrassment and sighed. "Let me change."
He nodded and followed me to my apartment, waiting on the couch. I didn't know whether I should have thanked him or not because he didn't laugh at me earlier, making me feel less humiliated. But on the second thought, no. He wasn't the type of person who had that kind of thinking pattern. Maybe he was just being emotionless as usual.
A few minutes later, I came out from my dressing room with a simple sweater covered by a matching coat. I hesitated on wearing another layer over my sweater since it's snowing outside, but I decided not to wear it. It's too troublesome.
"Where are we going?" I asked, trotting to catch up with his walking pace. We were walking past the restaurant and the lobby, eventually getting out from the building. The breeze hit my face and I shivered when it made a contact with my skin. The falling snow made it worse for me to find my warmth in simple sweater and coat. Visible white steam came out from my mouth everytime I breathed.
"Convenience store. It's near," he said, leading the way leisurely with his hands inside his coat pockets. He didn't look cold in this freezing weather. Even if he was, he didn't show any sign of it.
I shoved my freezing hands into my pockets, copying him. "What do you want to buy?"
"Snacks," he answered while pushing the glass door of the convenience store. Busy with brushing snowflakes off my coat, I didn't realize we're here. It's really near, only a five minute walk from the apartment. It would be very convenient if the weather wasn't this cold.
"What? Why wouldn't you buy something back at the restaurant? That would be much simpler. It's midnight and it snows pretty badly," I whined as I followed him inside. The store was eerily empty. The creepy classic background music didn't help much to ease my tension. We were the only ones there, besides the cashier.
"I told you not to go with me." He fixed his eyes on various brands of instant ramyun. "Which brand do you like?"
"What? You're going to eat ramyun?"
He ignored me and took two cups of Shin Ramyun. "Okay, I'll take these."
"You're not listening to me!"
He proceeded to the cashier and paid for the ramyun cups before he went to get hot water to cook them. I stopped saying anything since he would ignore me anyway and quietly followed him. I watched him pour the boiling water into the cups. While waiting the ramyun to be cooked, he went to the beverage cooler and took two cans of coke. After the cooking was done, he made me hold the coke while he carried the ramyun to the seating area.
