Chapter Nine

"Wake up Sleepyhead." I heard Mark's voice before I felt the steady poking of my cheek. "We have to be at your house for dinner in an hour." He reminded me when I groaned.

"You're giving me an hour?" I shot up, immediate awake.

"Nah, I'm giving you two, but I knew if I said an hour you'd wake up quicker. Hurry up though, we still need to talk about yesterday." I frowned, the memories from the attack last night coming back.

"I'd rather we didn't." I said honestly. Mark met my eyes as thoughts clouded my brain.

Last night I was so helpless. Against a vampire I am nothing but prey. I could fight my hardest and I would still lose in a fight. I had no say over any of my actions. I was in that vampires hands last night. I wanted to scream but I couldn't. I had no freewill left. It was ripped away from me. He was going to do whatever he pleased to me, and I had no say in it. Even worse, I was being fooled into thinking that I enjoyed it. That's what vampires did and I was learning first hand. Mark was a vampire too. He was no different from the man last night. Jackson, JB, Youngjae, Junior, Yugyeom, BamBam, they're all vampires. They all could do whatever they wanted with me. They were vampires, the only difference is, they were invited into my house, they had a special tracker on me, and even if I wanted to get away from them I couldn't. Vampires are dangerous, and I have not only now exposed myself to this danger, but my parents too.

"Stop that." Mark's voice pulled me out of my thoughts."Get your together Jen. I don't want to see any fear in your eyes, because if we wanted you dead, then you would be dead. If we wanted you as a slave you would be a slave. You know us better than to think that we are anything like that scum last night. Don't try to deny that that isn't what you're thinking because I'm in your head."

"I thought we agreed that you wouldn't do that." I glared, my tone flat.

"You lost more blood than we had thought. I gave you some of my blood to heal you, it's why you slept all day, the mark on your neck is gone, and it won't scar. Thanks to my blood in your veins your thoughts and emotions are booming inside of my head. You dream about bunnies by the way." He sounded annoyed, "I think you broke one of the rules. Never forget that we are vampires." Before I could comprehend what he had said I was pushed up against the wall. "We are vampires, we are strong, we are fast, and we could kill you in the blink of an eye." Mark was showing his fangs. "You just need to trust that we won't use that against you. That's why we spent the time working extra hard getting to know you." He set my feet onto the floor and removed his arm from pinning me against the wall. "If you don't trust us, then we're all a little screwed." Mark sighed, "The vampire community knows about you now. Don't go out without one of us. We have a friend who is watching your parents. That pricks friends aren't very happy about his death, but they should get over it fairly quickly. We're not going to let anything happen to you. Just go get ready for dinner and let's function rather normally. This is just how your life is going to be."

"Why does it seem like you're talking as if I don't have a choice in this anymore?" Mark laughed dryly,

"You always have a choice, Jen. I told you that before. It just got more dangerous, and walking away would lead to your death. You need us and we need you. Ironic how fate works things out."

"Were things like this for you?" Mark was slowly reverting back to the arrogant personality, and I honestly just didn't want to deal with any of that. I wanted to be able to connect with him on some level. I needed someone to understand and to get what I was going through, and he was the only one who would even come close.

"The book puts humans in tough situations. It's like a choose your own adventure novel. It sets up the story, and then that story progresses based on the choices the reader makes."

"And your choices turned you into a vampire?" I asked bluntly before realizing how insensitive it sounded, "Oh my god, that was rude I'm sorry you don't have to answer that-" I rushed. The vampire in front of me just smiled.

"You could say that. Now go. Now you only have an hour and a half." I rolled my eyes as Mark vanished from the room. I was really getting sick and tired of this whole speed thing.Chapter Nine
