Wariness
The Resistance
“I told you not to go....”
Yuri rolled her eyes as she wiped the glass clean, “I already got an earful from Taeyeon about it.”
“Let me guess, she will take care of your mess again?” Sooyoung said as she leaned up on the counter.
Yuri sent Sooyoung a glare, “I don’t need to be taken care of and Taeyeon doesn’t get into my business.”
“Really? So she didn’t help you when Seohyun first came and you basically attacked her?”
With her eyes wide in shock, Yuri ran up to cover Sooyoung’s mouth, “Why are you bringing up something that has long past?! And…I was just a kid then…not like I knew better.”
Sooyoung rubbed her chin, “Yoona did the same thing with that Jessica girl too right?? Why didn’t Yoona attack Seohyun like you did?”
“I said to drop the topic. I was being a stupid kid back then. You know I went through a lot.”
“Everyone here goes through a lot…you are not the only one. You can’t blame your past for every stupid thing you do.”
“I don’t! Y-you just don’t understand…you would never understand.”
Sooyoung let out a bitter laugh, “Then who does?”
“It was between me and Seohyun.”

Taeyeon sat next to Yuri holding an icepack on her hand, “Well do you feel better?”
Yuri rolled her eyes, “I don’t need you to lecture me too. I am already going to get some disciplinary action or something like that.”
“She isn’t the first ex-Party member you met…why now?”
Yuri shrugged her shoulders as she kept her eyes on the floor.
Taeyeon leaned back on her hands as she looked up, “You know most of us are very bitter towards the Party and its followers, me included, so I know where you are coming at. Like why let in people that helped them? Seems stupid right?”
Yuri looked up at her friend.
“But does being ignorant and only focusing survival make them really a bad person?”
Yuri sighed, “You don’t understand! She is different!”
“Then make me understand! Why her, why now Yuri?”
“She isn’t what everyone thinks.”
“Why would you say that?”
“Because…she was there…she was there when they were taken. I can’t forget…” Yuri started choking on pending tears, “…I can’t forget how she smiled when my parents...”
Taeyeon’s eyes opened in shock, “Smiled?”
“Yes. That big ing grin on her face….almost like she enjoyed it? Like she gets some cheap thrill out of making others see her power.”
“Are you sure it was Seohyun?”
“There is nothing from that day that I forgot.”
Just then the door opened and Yuri looked over to see a familiar face. Bowing down in shame, she didn’t dare to look her in the eyes.
The girl saw Yuri’s actions so she only addressed Sooyoung, “Overnight. Expect us in the morning.”
Seeing the girl walk out, Yuri bit her lip, “Taeyeon?”
Taeyeon slowly turned to face the girl.
“Umm sorry about umm well Jessica.”
Taeyeon smiled, “I know you mean well.”
Seeing that they somehow made amends, Yuri also smiled. She already lost many friends over the years on missions…she didn’t need to lose one over a silly fight.

Jessica was busy typing up a report but was having trouble focusing. She always felt uneasy when Taeyeon went out on mission. She knew it wasn’t her place to tell her to find a different position in the Resistance but since they started getting closer, she hated that Taeyeon would be placed in such dangerous situations all the time.
“How are you doing Jessica?”
Looking up, Jessica noticed Won Bin standing in front of her, so she quickly stood and bowed to her superior, “Hello.”
The man laughed, “no need for that. Just think of me as another member of the team.”
“Oh no…how could I do that when you have been here so much longer?”
“Really don’t worry about it. Anyway how are you doing here? I heard about the incident above…are you ok?”
“O-of course. There are always dangers when going above.”
Won Bin nodded, “Always be alert. First thing to learn as a reporter.”
As the two were talking, an older woman with a child came into level 6, “There you are.”
Won Bin turned around upon hearing a familiar voice, “Oh honey what are you doing here?” Taking the child from the woman’s arms, he coddled the small boy.
“Just wanted to take daddy home.”
Won Bin smiled as he gave his wife a kiss on the cheek, “I will be ready soon. Oh! You should meet our new worker. This is Jessica and Jessica this is my wife Na Young. She is also level 6 but she is on maternity leave so I am sure you two haven’t met yet.”
Na Young went to shake Jessica’s hand, “Nice to meet you. Maybe in less than a month I will be back here working beside you.”
Jessica was in awe that Won Bin’s wife was also in this level, “Nice to meet you too.”
“Well then that is settled. Don’t stay here too late Jessica.” Won Bin smiled as he gave the child back to his wife.
Although the night was growing late, yet another person came into the reporting room, “Aww is that him!”
Everyone’s attention went to the shorter girl, “Taeyeon? Is that you?”
Jessica peered over with a huge smile on her face as she spotted her girlfriend.
“Na Young! Been a long time. Oh and here is the new addition to the Resistance.”
Taeyeon took the child from her as the two smiled at each other, “Level 2 keeping you busy? So busy you didn’t come visit me down here? I feel hurt!”
Taeyeon laughed, “Of course I am busy. I don’t have time to fool around like I did in level 6.”
Jessica watched as the two past coworkers exchanged small stories until Won Bin broke up the happy reunion, “Looks like he is getting tired. Na Young we should get going.”
Na Young looked at her little boy, “Oh my all these people must make him need a nap.” Taking the baby back into her arms, Na Young let him rest his heavy head onto her shoulder, “Well nice meeting you Jessica and Taeyeon…I am sure we will meet soon.”
Won Bin walked ahead as Na Young and Taeyeon exchanged glances.
“Yuri has been exposed.”
“I see.”
“Can you return soon?”
“Maybe…but with the new baby…”
“I know. I hate to be asking you this but anyone else would be suspicious.”
“I understand.”
Taeyeon waved goodbye to the happy couple until she returned her attention back towards Jessica, “Almost done?”
Jessica wanted to lunge forward and engulf Taeyeon in a hug but she resisted as she smiled happily, “Yes. Did you get back now?”
“I was back a few hours ago, but I didn’t want to interrupt your work and I needed a nap,” Taeyeon laughed.
Jessica quickly packed her things so the two could go for a meal, “cafeteria?”
“I have actually been craving dumplings…” Jessica admitted shyly.
Taeyeon smiled as she took Jessica’s hand, “I know a good place.”

Taeyeon laughed as she saw the other girl shove two dumplings into , “Haha what is the rush? You look like a squirrel.”
Jessica turned her head in embarrassment as she tried to chew on the dumplings she just shoved in . “Just eat your food,” Jessica managed to get out despite the mouthful of food.
Taeyeon smiled happily as she ate her food but being the smooth operator that she is, Taeyeon reached across the table to hold Jessica’s hands, “I like this quiet time with you.”
Jessica couldn’t help her face from blushing a bright red as she heard the girl’s sweet words and soft hands caress hers, “m-me too...”
“It is just that the responsibilities I have...get me stressed out to the point where I don’t feel like I could ever have a normal life.” Taeyeon sighed as she raked her fingers through her hair, “but when I get to see you...I feel somewhat normal again.” Letting out a slightly bitter laugh, “Sorry if I am rambling.”
Jessica smiled as she held onto Taeyeon’s hand a bit tighter, “I understand. I feel it too. Being part of the Resistance or even the Party...just consumes your life. Hard to feel any kind of normalcy when you have to carry the burden of your own survival and the lives of others.”
Taeyeon grinned even wider as she saw the other girl understood her almost better than herself. Then her eyes went to the side of the girl’s mouth where she saw a bit of sauce, causing her to reach out and get the sauce off with her thumb, “You are so cute.” Jessica would have given some kind of stuttered response back but Taeyeon had already had her lips on hers, “thank you.”
Author's Note
So your author has an embarrassing confession...she forgot the plot. Up to chapter 21, I had written 144 pages and had to reread all of it (while taking notes) to remember the plot again. Long wait cause your author was stupid *hangs head in shame*
