"Congrats, team. Lights were stellar. Mics had a few slips, but all good. Prod was perfect. Great job!" Ah Reum heard one of the staff say.
It was now or never.
Ah Reum no longer debated. Ji Hoon was standing handsomely, behind the technical booth of EXO'luXion. Impossible but happening, she had made the intentional choice to declare her love for her boss, right then, right there.
The heat on her cheeks was accompanied by her chest getting tighter with uncertainty. What will Ji Hoon say? What will happen after? Will he say yes or no?
"I have to tell you something, Ah Reum." Ji Hoon said beyond her, breaking her thoughts. Ohmygoodness. Ji Hoon was actually leaning closer, and whether she was assuming or not, was Im Ji Hoon's tone a bit shy?
Ji Hoon breathed a what seemed to be sigh of relief and uttered closely, "I'm lucky to work with you. You're simply, wow, perfect for this publicty job."
Ah Reum was so sure that her knees turned wobbly at Ji Hoon's caressing words of praise. He called her wow. Was that a sign that Ji Hoon liked her back?
Decided, Ah Reum unconsciously gently tugged at Ji Hoon's coat. A little move that screamed "Stay." Moment of truth.
"For, a-a while-nnow, I-I have been, uhm. uhm. in love with- y-you." Ah Reum finally confessed.
Contrary to what Moon Ah Reum expected, her lovable boss did not seem surprised. There was no eye popping and stammering returned to her. Im Ji Hoon, in his best cool guy game, gave her a pleased smile. Shoulders square, his smile did not seem to fade from his face.
"Thank you, Ah Reum." He told her with sincerity, looking at her lips.
Okay. Not going to lie, she had no idea what Ji Hoon's gratitude meant, but Ji Hoon's non-removable smile got her thinking that there was actually some hope for JiReum.
"Look, I gotta run somewhere, Ah Reum. I'll see you in Seoul for our weekly meeting." Ji Hoon hastily said and just then, he vanished like thin air.
With no time to process what transpired between the two of them, she concluded that indeed, Ji Hoon and her had a chance. All she needed was Ji Hoon's confirmation, and if she had to wait, no problem with that.
Ah Reum would patiently wait for Ji Hoon's reply to her confession, with zero clue that there was no "us" happening between her and Mr. Perfect Boss.
As she tucked a hair behind her ear, her meticulous backstage checking began. The tech booth seemed working properly, and the lighting was divine, even during Chanyeol's intricate lighting during his drum solo.
If she only knew the impending heartbreak in store for her...
Two weeks of waiting for Ji Hoon's reply was not long.
Was it?
Self-doubt was beginning to crawl over Ah Reum. Her steel-like patience was not supposed to be acting up, but every passing day seemed to be longer. The leaves of her waiting calendar seemed endless, and although she hated to admit it, her relationship with Ji Hoon turned peculiar.
Something between them changed. Was it mutual liking or Ji Hoon quietly rejecting her?
Along with the self doubt was a feeling of insecurity and inadequateness. She was not the most gorgeous woman in Seoul, but she wasn't ugly at all. In fact, underneath that boring everyday suit was a nicely shaped figure. Ji Hoon thought she was perfect, so what was wrong?
Was Ji Hoon planning the perfect date or was Ji Hoon planning the perfect escape from h
