When Rukawa Vents Out On Haruko

Pure Pain, Undiluted

Hi guys, I just wanna ask.

Are you familiar with the anime Slam Dunk? Did you notice any semblance between Lee Gyu Won and Haruko, and between Lee Shin and Rukawa? Anyway, I had read that JYH read Slam Dunk manga (the one translated to Korean), and he based his Lee Shin chara to Rukawa (I forgot the Korean name)... same traits: cold, school hearthrob, likes to sleep anywhere, rides a bike, and is passionate ONLY in his chosen field.

Once again, I am going to apply the Rukawa-Haruko principle here.

*******************

The next morning, Mi Nyu woke up early, as she had been used to it in Africa. It was her task to prepare breakfast, and she forgot that it was always Aunt Mi Ja who did that for everybody. When she went to the kitchen, she saw Shin Woo preparing his tea. She forgot that the guitarist always drinks tea every morning.

"Good morning, Shin Woo-hyung," she greeted meekly.

He looked up and greeted her the same. She went to him and sat next to him. He was reading some scores that Hyun Joong had given to him.

"You did not get enough sleep last night, I am sure," she remarked.

Without looking at her, he replied. "Gwaenchanha, I am used to it."

When his tea was ready, Mi Nyu automatically went to the teapot to get it. She wanted to serve him that morning.

"What are you doing?" he casually asked.

"I want to serve you your tea today, Shin Woo-hyung," she happily said.

He looked at her boredly.

"I thought it is your duty to serve your boyfriend, not me."

"Shi...Shin Woo-hyung!" she snapped.

She had no idea what made Shin Woo say that. But it was totally offensive.

"What made you say that, Shin Woo-hyung?" she asked, doing her best to make him feel that she was angry.

But he only looked at her boredly--again.

"I don't want people touching my things without permission."

She was taken aback. Was he turning into some kind of a Hwang Tae Kyung?

"Shin Woo-hyung! You are turning into a Hwang Tae Kyung!" she angrily told him.

But he looked at her boredly again and get back to studying his notes. Mi Nyu put the kettle back in place. After all, didn't he just said that he didn't want anybody to touch his things?

She thought why Shin Woo said that to her. Instead of being defensive, she counted up to ten to calm herself. Then she spoke.

"I'm sorry for snapping at you, Hyung. I did not mean to," she started slowly, carelessly playing with her fingers. "I should have known better than to annoy a tired person. I was totally tactless. I did not remember that you are tired. Joesonghamnida...."

Shin Woo did not look at her, but he replied coldly. "For insulting you, mian..."

Mi Nyu felt her heart being stabbed at his rudeness. She shouldn't have pestered him early in the morning.

"Are...are you angry at me, Shin Woo-hyung?" she asked, trying her best to control the shakiness of her voice.

He got a bit nettled that he squinted his eyes as he looked at her. "Angry? Do you think everything is about you? Do you always think that the world revolves around you?"

Mi Nyu saw him angry when he came to her one time at the dance studio, and he was reprimanding her in the dark. When the lights were on, he saw her petty face, and he softened. Then, he practiced a song. But in this moment, Shin Woo could not even contain the anger in his voice, though he did his best not to act out his anger. She had never seen him this angry.

"Joesonghamnida.... Shin...Woo...hyung..." she said as tears started to fall.

But Shin Woo was no longer the caring guy he used to be. Or that was what she thought. The guitarist did not comfort her like he used to, and went to the kettle to serve some tea for himself. When he got back to the table, he gave some to Mi Nyu.

"You should stop thinking that all other people are thinking of you, whether it be nice or ill," he advised her before sipping from his own cup.

She held the cup and sipped a bit, but her hands were so shaky that she let go of the cup. The cup fell to the floor and shattered to pieces. Both of them looked at the broken cup, then at each other. He saw a look of fright in her eyes.

"Joesonghamnida, Shin Woo-hyung..." she spoke, though her voice betrayed her hurt emotions.

She bent down to gather the broken pieces, but Shin Woo also bent down.

"Did I not tell you not to touch my things without permission?" he asked her as he started to gather some of the big pieces.

She stopped and looked at him. "M...mworaguyo?"

He looked at her with his stabbing and icy stare. "Even with the broken pieces, let me pick those up. Just like the broken pieces of me which I picked up after you told me to let you go."

He went back to clean the pieces himself, and Mi Nyu finally understood why Shin Woo was acting all cold and distant.

"Shin Woo-hyung...found it hard to get over me...." she thought sadly.

She was his friend, and she wanted to help him get over her after she told him to let go. She could not return his affections, nor comfort him the way he did for her. Yet she felt that to make up for him, she wanted to help him as a friend. But is that even possible?

Chapter 22: I'm conflicted. Ri Ja's death is a sad ending, and I would have liked to see more of Shin Woo and Mi Nyu's relationship evolving. They haven't really been close since she went to Africa.

Chapter 20: It has to be a happy ending, because just when I thought "Mi Nyu will stop crying know, she sees to be ok now..." she's crying again and I'm crying with her. Though I cannot blame Shin Woo for loving another person, really

Chapter 15: Ok, so finally a nice moment between Shin Woo and Mi Nyu (even if she's still harboring those hopeless feelings) and Tae Kyung finally is starting to see what's going on with her girlfriend. Also,Shin Woo's girlfriend is just so nice.... Uff, this whole situation is just sad and complicated.

Chapter 13: I hope that, just like Basha and Popoy, Mi Nyu and Shin Woo could get one more chance. Meanwhile, I'm also praying to see a more resilient Mi Nyu... I don't like to kow she's crying and hurting in every chapter until now.

Chapter 10: I'd love to see Mi Nyu and Shin Woo together, but I'm not really liking Mi Nyu now. I mean, she's still Tae Kyung's girlfriend and it's not fair to him that she's crying over his bandmate when they are together.

Chapter 23: Did Shin Woo really love Ri Ja? Or was his love for Mi Nyu just being suppressed inside him? I'm a bit bothered that he fell in love with another girl even though in the end he ended up with Mi Nyu...
