Description: An innocent love story about a boy and a girl who were too shy to show their real feelings. And also how little things like a simple chocolate and vanilla flavor could make them remember about the person who liked that flavor. One thing for sure, their story is as sweet, soft and definitely could make us smile, like how a cone of ice cream could do to us.

Little steps filled the hard path, Chan was running as fast as he could to his classroom. "Why do I have such short legs?!" He thought miserably before finally entering his classroom. He checked his black wristwatch and sighed in relief. "There's still two minutes left." He mumbled while panting, trying to catch his breath as he walked over to his seat. Popping in his favorite Hershey's milk chocolate kisses into his mouth, Chan started to do his Chemistry homework, which he prefer to call it as schoolwork since he'll do it at school anyway.

At a desk that was placed on the front row, right in front of the white board,  a cute girl who was a happy aura surrounding her was checking herself at the Hello Kitty pocket mirror that she brought. "My hair looks nice today!" Mirae, or often addressed as Rae said to herself. Most of them are used to Rae's chirpy and sometimes overconfident attitude, but that's why she's loved by most people.

School ends quickly for Chan, maybe because he slept throughout the class. Grabbing onto his neon yellow backpack, he walked his way to the park, where he usually spends his day before finally going home. Whether it was dancing near the fountain where he gains some attention or simply eats his chocolate ice cream under the big tree, he loved spending time at the park.

"Minjung! Hansol! Don't just act lovey dovey behind me, hurry up!" Rae commanded to her two friends (who were lovers), they were walking quietly behind the hyper girl, holding hands sweetly as the shyly smiled to each other.

"Go get your own boy, Rae! That way you won't disturb us anymore, right?" Hansol said as he glanced to Minjung, who was chuckling at her boyfriend's saying. Oh boy, Rae would start her tantrum in 3...2...1!

"For how many times should I say, I don't need a boy!" Rae huffed, leaving the two laughing at their friend's cute acts.

"Rae oh Rae, always the same old childish girl since the first time I met you." Minjung thought as she catched up on Rae. "Wait for me!"

"Babe? Minjung? Don't just leave your boyfriend like that... Hey!" Hansol shouted as he started to ran, trying to catch up on his girlfriend.

The three best friends sat on the bench near the central of the park, where kids usually play or people simply passed by. It was 5PM and the park was quiet as usual. Rae was munching onto her usual vanilla ice cream while the other two shared a cone of strawberry ice cream.

"Isn't that Chan? The boy who sat at the back of our class?" Hansol suddenly asked, fingers pointing to a boy who was sitting under the tree with his PSP held tight in his hands.

"Yeah! He's always here everyday." Rae answered truthfully. In fact, as the regular visitor of the park, she always see Chan doing his usual routine over there.

"Oh, our Rae started to pay attention to her surroundings? That's rare." Hansol bluntly said as he recieved a smack on the head from Rae. "Ouch!"

Minjung was sitting quietly as he saw those two bickering as usual, can't help but thought the same. "But Hansol's right. Our oblivious Rae doesn't pay attention to her surrounding except for the people she cared about." She finished her ice cream without even realizing.

"Babe, why did you finish the ice cream by yourself? I should've bought one for myself then..." Hansol complained while pouting cutely as Minjung laughed over her boyfriend's silly acts. Rae? Oh she's unconsciously staring at Chan as usual.

The next day was the same routine for both of them. Chan with his 'sleeping throughout class' routine and Rae with her usual 'writing whatever the teacher said although I don't understand anything' routine. On her way to the park, Rae received a text message from her sister that she will also go to the park. When Rae arrived, she was greeted by her sister, Byul.

"What are you doing here?" Rae asked politely as she hugged her sister tightly.

"Can't I spend some time with my beloved sister?" Byul chuckled. "Here's your usual vanilla ice cream!" Byul gave her sister a cone of vanilla ice cream.

Rae gladly accepted it as she smiled happily to her sister. "Thank you!" Although her eyes seemed to trail off somewhere, looking for that particular boy.

"Huh? Are you searching for someone, Rae?"

"No..." She answered, pouting slightly as she sighed. "Or maybe yes...." She pulled her sister to the nearest bench, took a deep breath before finally explained what she was feeling inside. How that particular boy have caught her eyes ever since the first time she went to the park. How that particular boy always seemed to play his PSP under the tree. How that particular boy always ordered a chocolate ice cream at the ice cream stall. Most important is that how she somehow cared for that particular boy.

"My baby sister has grown so much. Look at her now caring for a boy." Byul giggled as soon as Rae stopped talking.

"You're not helping at all." Rae playfully hit her sister's arm, resulting a laugh from the latter.

"And who's this lucky boy?"

"His name is Chan, a student in my class who never pays attention during class. We've never greeted each other but he goes here as often as I do." It's quite rare that Chan didn't go to the park, because almost everyday Rae sees him with that neon colored backpack of his.

It suddenly rained. The Ahn siblings squealed as they ran for shelter. It seems like the sky is as upset as Rae was.

Let's go back to school, shall we? As a matter of fact, Chan was in his detention because he was late (by two minutes!) that day. He was upset that he couldn't get his daily dose of chocolate ice cream. He stared blankly at the window, it was raining outside. "I wonder if she went to the park today...." Chan silently thought as he scribbled a few things on his notebook. "Chocolate. Ice cream. Vanilla. Rae."

After a few phone calls here and there, both Byul and Rae were on their way home, thanks to Jihoon who was in Seungcheol's car. He immediately instructed Seungcheol to go to the park, picking up his girlfriend and her sister.

"What were you doing anyway in Seungcheol's car?" Byul blinked at his boyfriend whose eyes suddenly doubled in size.

"Uh......"

"He was actually asking my advice about a dress that he wanted to buy for you since the summer festival is--" Seungcheol answered truthfully until Jihoon shut his mouth with his hands. And they accidentally passed through a red light, thank goodness that they were still alive.

"What the heck?! You could almost get us killed!" Seungcheol complained while Jihoon pretended that he didn't do anything.

"It's because you ruined the surprise, man."

Byul giggled at the thought of Jihoon wanting to buy her a dress, that's sweet. While Rae had already dozed off to dreamland.

"Good morning." Rae mumbled to herself as she checked her pink clock. "It's still early in the morning." She yawned. Her temperature suddenly rose up as she felt her cheeks and whole body burning. It's because she got drenched in the rain yesterday. She sighed deeply as she grabbed her medicine case on the drawer, swallowing two pills that said 'can reduce your temperature - fever pill' before throwing her body at her comfortable bed, sleeping again and she didn't cared that she has school later on.

Chan was skipping to the park as usual, grinning like an idiot at the thought of eating a mouth watering chocolate ice cream. As soon as he was there, something felt weird. "She's not here, why?" He thought before proceeding to the ice cream stall, bought a chocolate ice cream and sat quietly at the bench Rae usually sat on. He was simply wondering what did she felt yesterday when he wasn't here, did she felt the same? Or not?

After three days rest at her house, Rae was finally feeling better. Although her nose felt stuffy because she got a flu instead, she was lifelessly walking to class, making others wonder where did the chirpy Rae went? That familiar scent of vanilla fragrance filled the classroom as Chan opened his eyes, hid his grin with the book he was supposed to read. "Did she found the gift?" He thought while averting his gaze to her, who looks confused about something.

"Minjung! Why is there a bottle of vanilla milk under my desk?" Rae asked Minjung who has just arrived at the classroom with Hansol.

"That milk was there since three days ago." Minjung shrugged. "Anyway I'm glad that you're here now, the class felt different without the hyper Ahn Mirae." She laughed before walking to her seat.

But Rae couldn't help but wonder, who put this vanilla milk under her desk? Whatever, might as well drink it if it was for her. She opened the bottle cap as he gulped it down in one shot. "This tastes good."

And again, Chan immediately went to the park when school ended. Happily walking to the ice cream stall, he ordered his usual chocolate ice cream until something caught his eyes. There she was, sitting on the edge pf the fountain with someone, a boy to be exact. Chan was too preoccupied with many thoughts in his mind until he forgot about his ice cream.

"Hey, son. Here's your ice cream." the ice cream seller said while handing Chan his ice cream.

"Oh.. yeah thanks." Chan simply replied as he continued to stare at those two, who were laughing and smiling to each other. You could see jealousy burning through his eyes.

"Listen, if you want to confess to someone, I suggest you to do it before someone else takes her away from you." the ice cream seller suggested, earning a nod from Chan.

"I will, soon." He simply replied.

Actually, the boy Rae talked to was Jihoon. He was asking her what kind of dresses that Byul likes, yeah he still determined to buy her girlfriend a dress. And Rae laughed because her sister wasn't the type who likes to wear dresses.

"Hmm.... For all I know, she likes simple clothing so nothing too fancy!" Rae grinned.

"Alright, thanks for your help!" Jihoon smiled as he messed Rae's bangs, stood up and walked away.

"Now where's Chan..." Rae thought as she scanned every corner of the park, she found him looking at her from the usual spot he sat. They locked their gaze for a moment until Chan looked away, embarrassed that she caught him staring at her. While Rae was dumbfounded, was he staring at her? She couldn't help but thought of it, even until she arrived at home.

Saturday oh Saturday, everyone's favorite day of the week. Rae woke up at the sound of her alarm ringing. She stretched her arms as she yawned. "It's Saturday! The park will be crowded!" She happily thought.

At another house, Chan was still dozing off in his bed. He turned himself to the right, then to the left and finally (because of too much flipping) he accidentally fell to the ground, waking himself up. "Ow!" He groaned in pain as he rubbed his head still in his sleepy face, only one eye open. Without proper thinking, he stood up while hugging his pillow and went to the bathroom. What is he even doing with a pillow in a bathroom? Well, that's the sleepy Chan (who can't think straight) for you.

After much debate to herself, Rae decided to wear a simple sleeveless blouse with a sheer white cardigan on top of it, and her favorite mint-colored shorts and white flats. She was preparing to go to the park until Byul shouted from her room. "Rae! Wait! I'm going to go with you!"

Byul decided to accompany her sister, because she wants to and she's going to meet Jihoon at the park. As soon as they arrived, they were greeted by Jihoon, who immediately smiled upon seeing his girlfriend.

"Now go! Have a nice date, you two!" Rae waved as the couple walked away. She decided to sit at a bench near the fountain, the park was already crowded. There were childrens playing here and there, couples having a sweet walk and some people who were having their morning jog. She plugged in her earphones to her ear, and pressed 'shuffle' on her purple iPod.

When Chan arrived, he could only think of one thing. "I must talk to her now, even if I won't confess now at least we can be friends." He ran lightly to the ice cream stall. "One vanilla and one chocolate ice cream please."

The seller gave Chan his ice creams and smiled. "I'll give those for free, just for today, son."

"Really? Thanks ahjussi!" Chan grinned. He slowly approached Rae, who was reading a book.

She suddenly felt a shadow hovering her book, she looked up and was greeted by a boy who grinned too wide that it made his eyes disappear.

"Hi." That's all he could say as he handed her the vanilla ice cream. "It's for you, may I sit here?"

Flustered, Rae shyly accepted it while mumbling a simple 'yes'. Silence, well.. not really because it was crowded but you get the drill. None of them are talking, they were just eating their ice cream in silence.

"Um.. I'm Chan! I'm also a student in your class." Chan spoke in a rather too happy tone, he still can't believe that he's finally talking to Rae.

Rae nodded as she heard him introduced himself, quickly eating her ice cream, she also introduced herself. "I'm Mirae but you can call me Rae. I guess you know me already?" She chuckled.

"Yeah... you have something on top of your mouth." Chan said while he took out his handkerchief, wiped off the ice cream stain and smiled.

"Oh.. thanks!" She giggled. And once again silence took over. Both were just sitting silently, while Chan sometimes stole a glance to her, Rae was too shy to look up.

"Want to go for a walk?" Chan suggested before things becomes too awkward.

"Sure!" Rae immediately replied as she stood up, her heart beating a little bit faster than usual.

So they walked, walked and walked. Little did they know, a few people were following them.

"15.000 won that they'll be together on Monday!" Hansol whispered.

"I say 20.000 won at the end of the day." Jihoon smirked.

While Byul and Minjung giggled, because the couple in front of them were too cute. None were brave enough to hold the other's hands first, although you could see Chan was trying a few times, but gave up in the end.

A crowd of people were seen in the centre of the park, where people usually gather for events. It looks like some dance crew were dancing their hearts out as some people joined their dancing.

Upon hearing the catchy tune, Chan also joined them and danced as best as he could to impress Rae. And she stood there, frozen as she watched him in awe, she didn't know that he could dance this good.

"That's all he got? Are you kidding me." Hansol said, chuckling as he danced. Jihoon followed him as soon as Hansol danced.

"Eh? Hansol and Jihoon? Does that means...." Rae's eyes widened in shock, turned her head around and a happily smiling Byul and Minjung were seen waving at her. Both of them approached Rae as Byul slung an arm over her sister's shoulder.

"They're cool, huh? I didn't know that your Chan could dance like this." Byul sister, whose ears becomes red out of embarrassment.

"He's not my Chan... he's just... Chan."

"Oh he will be yours, soon!" Minjung winked, resulting a pink tinted cheeks Rae who blushed even more.

When the boys stopped dancing, they went back to their own respective girls (friend, for Chan's case).

"How was my dancing?" Chan grinned nervously as he rubbed the nape of his neck.

"Fantastic!" Rae clapped her hands before giving a two thumbs up which made Chan grinned even more.

"Thanks!"

Hansol slung an arm over his girlfriend's shoulder while Jihoon held Byul's hands. "Why don't you introduce this friend of yours, Rae?" Minjung asked.

"His name is Chan! He's in my class too!" Rae said.

Chan bowed for a second before realizing something. "Wasn't that the boy who was talking to Rae before?" He thought while looking down.

"Nice to meet you! I'm Byul, Rae's sister and this is Jihoon, my boyfriend. We have Minjung and Hansol over there, they're also in your class." Byul smiled.

Still looking down, trying to connect the puzzle pieces. "Sister's boyfriend? Oh now it made sense! So I was being jealous for no reason?" Chan embarrassedly thought as his ears grew red.

"Aww, why is he blushing?" Minjung innocently asked while the boys smirked. Since Chan's eyes were looking down, it was as if he was looking at Rae's legs, nice going, Chan.

"Nothing! Uh... I know a good Japanese restaurant in this neighborhood, want to eat?" Chan asked.

"Good thing that you asked! I'm starting to starve." Rae smiled.

"Let's go." Chan grabbed her wrist, still feeling a bit shy to hold her hands as they started walking.

"They're so cute!" Byul squealed.

"Take good care of Rae!" Jihoon shouted.

"Can't we join them?" Hansol asked, he was hungry after all. Recieving a smack on the head and arm by Jihoon and Byul, plus a pinch on the waist from Minjung.

"We should give them some privacy!" The three chorused together.

Little did they know, Chan heard what they were talking about thanks to their loud voices. While Rae was too distracted by the thought that Chan was holding her wrist. "Don't worry, I'll treat her as best as I could." He thought to himself before finally deciding to hold her hands. Finally.
