Jessica's POV

"I need to talk to you about some thing." his voice was as calm as ever.
The room became extremely silent, similar thoughts running through our minds.
Meanwhile, different emotions were stirring inside of me. I was getting goosebumps.

"Is it okay if I come along?" I asked the doctor nervously.
He nodded slowly, as if having second thoughts.
Sooyoung had followed us without asking.

My arms went round Sooyoung's waist and she hung her arm around my shoulder as we waited for the results to be told.

"The x-ray scan...." he took out the film and inhaled deeply.
I bit my lip, gripping onto Sooyoung's shirt.
"We did the scan because she said she have head pains. And here it shows that uh... she has a..."
We all stared at him with worried faces.
"A small tumor. It's just a small one. Can be removed by operation. But uhm, chances of surviving is quite small as it matters the brain."

Tears were already rolling down my cheeks as I put my head on Sooyoung's shoulder.
"Calm down, Sica... Doctor said it can be removed." she my hair.
"Yes, miss. It can be cured. It's just a minor one." he assured us as he placed his hand on my shoulder, pressing it lightly.
"Then you better cure her. We trust you doctor." Uncle stated sternly.
"I'll do everything I can, sir." he then patted Uncle's shoulder. "We'll have to wait until she's strong enough. Till then, she'll stay here. I'll tell her about it tonight."
With that, he left. Aunt and Uncle went back in.

"You have to stop crying. We can't go in until you do."
"Aren't you worried at all??" I half yelled at her.
"Of course I am. She's a close friend of mine..." a tear trickled down her cheek and she wiped it immediately.
"Sorry... I'm gonna go to the toilet first." Sooyoung followed.
"She'll recover. I know she will."
I washed my face and dried it with the tissue.

"Thanks, Soo. For being there for me." I said as we left the toilet.
"What are friends for?" she smiled, and I smiled along.

Yuri's POV

The room was silent after they went out.
Nobody dared to say anything.

They weren't gone for long.
Mom and Dad had entered the room.
Mom sat beside me and pressed my hands.
She was smiling but I can see worry in her eyes.

"Where's Sica?" I asked, realising that the other two haven't come back in.
"She went to the toilet."

Hmm.
I knew it wasn't good.
She must be crying and had to wash her face so that we wouldn't know.

Soon, Sica came back smiling.
It was a forced smile.
I can see that.
And her eyes were a little swollen.

What did the doctor tell them?
For sure, it wasn't good.

I pretended I didn't suspect anything.

Sunny and her girlfriend was the first to take their leave.
After I had my dinner, it was 8pm. The visiting time was over and they had to leave.
"Take care, Yuri." they all said one by one as they left the room.
Mom and Dad kissed my forehead before leaving.
And last one left was Sica.

She came up beside me and frowned.
"Didn't I tell you to see the doctor?" I laughed a little and she pinched my arm softly.
"Bye, Kwon. I will come back tomorrow." she brushed my hair and kissed me on my cheeks, staying there for a few seconds.
"Bye. Take care of yourself."
"You take care. Goodnight. I love you."
"Love you too. Night."
She waved me goodbye again before closing the door.

Now, I'm all alone.
I sighed.
Staying here will be so boring.
I want to get out of here fast.

The medication made me feel so sleepy.
I was about to close my eyes when the door opened.
It was the doctor.

"How are you feeling, Yuri?"
Just how many times is he going to ask me the same thing in one day?
I gave him the same answer.
"Not bad."
"Well, we have gotten your x-ray scan result. And..." he explained the pains I have been getting.

Tumor, huh?
I wasn't shocked at all when he told me the bad news.
I remained calm.

"You parents want you to go for the operation. It is encouraged. But we'll have to wait until your body is stronger or your immune system won't be able to take the strong medicine we need to give you for the operation." he continued.
"If so, can I leave tomorrow?" I requested for an early leave, not wanting to rot in here.
This place is like a prison. A high-class one.

"I'm afraid you won't be able to. We need to keep you under our supervision."
"Why? Am I in a critical state? Please, doctor. I'd want the time I have left before the operation to be spent with my family and friends. Not just lying here like a weakling."
He sighed and pressed his forehead before looking back up at me.

"Okay. But not tomorrow. Earliest I can promise is 2 days later."
"Thank you. Very much."
"Mm. You should go to sleep now. The medicine must be making you sleepy. I'll see you again tomorrow."
I was going to sleep when you barged into the room.
He gave the machines a last check before leaving.
And I slept.

Tiffany's POV

The next day, none of them was in their right state.
It was only the first day of Yuri's absence but the group was affected a lot.
It got worse when Sooyoung told us about Yuri's condition.
Sica dropped a tear. And all we could do was wipe it off for her.
She was the most affected, of course. She didn't even want to eat.

It didn't affect me much because I was just getting to know Yuri.
But seeing how the rest were, affected me.
Especially Taeyeon.

Taeyeon was at her lowest.
Just being near her, I was able to feel the gloominess.
It made my heart sink.
I couldn't do anything to cheer her up.

I tried a lot of times. She only smiled for a while and went back to being moody.
Even Sunny, the energizer, could not lift up the mood for any longer.

After school, Sica went straight to the hospital with Sooyoung while, me, Taeyeon and Sunny stayed in school to finish a project work. We decided to do it in the studio as nobody was using it and it was the most comfortable place we could find.

Halfway while doing the project, Taeyeon yawned loudly.
She have been yawning since morning, actually.
"Taeyeon ah, why don't you go home and rest. We will finish the rest." Sunny said to her softly.
"No, I'm fine." she covered to yawn again.
"You're tired, Tae. Go and rest." I insisted, hoping that she will listen to me.
"I'll just sit here and rest." she got up on the couch and lied down, sleeping immediately.

Why does it affect you so badly?

"How close are they?" I asked Sunny.
"Very. Sooyoung, Yuri, Hyoyeon, and Taeyeon are from the same middle school. They were close friends since then."
"Oh. No wonder." I gulped.

I was a bit jealous of how close Yuri is with Taeyeon.
Since yesterday, me and Taeyeon have not been talking much. Not like we always do.
If we talk, it's about Yuri. Everything on her mind is about Yuri. 
She doesn't even notice that her lowness had affected me. And us.
But I have to understand.
I'd be like that too if it was Jessica in Yuri's place.
