If That's the Case
Eliston Academy (Indefinite Hiatus)“You know… what Soo Min?” Taehyung said, his breath tickling my feet.
“What.” I asked; just humoring him.
He giggled, causing Jimin to groan and tell him to shut up. Ah Jin was off to the side, her snoring filling the small shop. A few of the others were on the other side of the room, some sleeping on the couch lining the wall. I had just learned an hour before that they rarely had soft drinks or anything with caffeine in it. Isn’t it strange that a teenage boy living in a dorm has never tried Sprite before? I guess if it was prohibited by their strict families, it would make sense. But still, never having tried one of the most popular soft drinks in the entire world? Now that they have tried it, they’re unnervingly calm.
“You’re the coolest person I know,” he laughed. I smiled, contemplating whether or not I should tell all of them to leave. It was already eleven, and Mrs. Min was probably already asleep. If we left as soon as possible, we could avoid the risk of waking her up at a really late time. I could also study more when we get back to the dorms. It was a win-win situation.
“Hey guys maybe—” Before I could finish my sentence, Yoongi sat up and groaned. When he did that, Jungkook, Jin, Taehyung, Jimin, and Hoseok—everyone excluding Namjoon and Ah Jin—sat up with wide eyes. I frowned, confused at how sudden this was. And the strange thing was; they all rose at the same time. And the strangest thing was; they looked terrified, as if they saw a ghost or something. That makes a bit of sense though, since Yoongi was so pale that he probably resembled a ghost. But still, it didn’t make sense that they would look so scared.
“Soo. Min. Don’t. Move.” Jimin tried to whisper across the room to me, but his voice was just plain loud. All of the other guys nodded slowly, other than Namjoon (who was still sleeping), and Yoongi (who had his eyes closed and was looking harmless). Nonetheless, I didn’t move an inch. It was agonizing to stay still for a minute, since it was really the first time any of them looked so serious. I envied Ah Jin, who was still sleeping comfortably.
All of sudden, without warning, Yoongi opened his eyes. It was fast, you wouldn’t have caught it if you weren’t studying him intently; which were what the five were doing. I just happened to be looking at Yoongi at the right time. In that moment, that one second, it seemed as if time stopped. The guy’s eyes were wide with fear, and no one moved. The only sound that filled the room was Ah Jin’s snoring. Then, a second later, Jimin leaped up and ran across the room. He grabbed my hand and ran out of the ramen shop, almost tripping over his own feet. Of course I was dragged with him, and he was going too fast. I doubt I could’ve caught up even if I was being chased by a bear and if he wasn’t holding my hand. I heard the others behind us, the sound of their breath and constant muttering. It seemed as if they were making a plan in the midst of all this running. Taehyung was suddenly beside us.
“Run faster! He’ll come soon!” Taehyung yelled. Jin was close behind him, and both of them sharply took a left turn and disappeared at the corner. I guess the caffeine finally kicked in.
You may be wondering why a normal mall with security is not stopping six teenagers from running around at eleven at night. It’s because Jungkook’s parents sponsor this mall, as well as many large ones across the country, and it’s technically open 24 hours a day for students at Eliston; not that we really are allowed to come out this late. I only found out today, but it didn’t come as a huge surprise.
“Soo Min, we gotta go quickly.” Jimin said to me. He was short of breath, and we had stopped at the large fountain in the centre of the mall to rest. This fountain was huge, and I could bet my money that almost all of us were hiding somewhere around it. I still was unsure of why we were hiding and who we were hiding from. But Jimin didn’t seem to intend on telling me. He was crouching on the ground, trying to catch his breath. I was on the ground too, but more exhausted because of the events that happened throughout this entire day than the running. The confession was still fresh in my mind, and the look Min Joon gave me when I walked away was replaying in my head. I groaned, knowing I couldn’t avoid what happened.
“Soo Min, seriously. I’m tired too but if we stay here he’s going to catch us.” Jimin pleaded, interrupting my thoughts. I was slightly annoyed, since I seemed like I was the only one in the dark about this situation. I was going to ask him what was going on when Ah Jin stumbled across our hiding location and shrieked.
“Oh, it’s just you. Don’t scare me like that!” she looked unsettled, as
